Been a member for years. Animal care is world class. Located right in the Rouge which is the largest urban park in North America. Toronto zoo covers 710 acres of it making it the third largest zoo in North America after San Diego and North Carolina.

New programs to keep up with other zoos can be improved. The facilities are deteriorating as well and is stuck in the 90s. Can be an expensive visit for a family if not done via memberships.

Such a fantastic place. Attended the Zoo in the Winter and despite it being cold and not many animals being outside, the Zoo atmosphere itself was still a beautiful welcome.
The walks between attractions in the Winter could feel longer than that of Summer due to the quietness of both people and animals outdoor, but the walks were very much enjoyable. That cold icey fresh air is the best.
We were able see to lots of animals more so in the indoors. The staff is very friendly and the Keepers have scheduled times to talk more on the animals they watch over.
Nothing is free. Parking is $12 which should have been included in the price of the ticket.
The food can be expensive! A slice of pizza, two orders of fries and two bags of chips hit us at $30.

Altogether, it's the Zoo! I would highly recommend visiting anytime of the year, though Summer is obviously the best time.

Sometimes I wish I could spend more time around the animals than of the humans in the city!

It's the zoo so you can't really say too many great or bad things about it it's really going to depend on your experience that day. I would however like to encourage the Toronto Zoo to make an app both for a map of the place and also that they could update to show which animals are or are not on display. On the day we went, although it was early in the season, a large portion of the animals were not on display. I realize this is a common thing because they are living creatures. But they have some way of knowing beforehand would certainly make the experience much more enjoyable.

A beautiful place to take you kids in and also fun for family. We had a good time even in winter. Some areas are not available for the season but we got to see polar bears, so it was worth it. Better to go in fall or summer

First time members at Toronto Zoo this year, and we are extremely pleased. The zoo is big enough that coming multiple times ensures you'll get to see all of the wonderful animals they have on exhibit. (Plus free zoomobile!)

You can pack a lunch if you want, but there are many places around the park to order food at. Costs are pretty much what you would expect at a place like this, but the food isn't half-bad.

The splash pad is fantastic on a hot day. I sincerely recommend bringing your kids here for the splash pad!

They do amazing conservation work at this zoo! So you know that the money you're spending is helping animal populations around the world.

We love Toronto Zoo!

This place is a trap for you to spend ALL your money for EVERYTHING and get NOTHING in return!.. Admission was $29.00 per adult then kids were $19.00, $12.00 for parking, $30.00 to rent a mobility scooter!, $10.00 per person for the trackless train which is like a hay ride without the hay, YOU CAN'T SEE ANY OF THE ANIMALS!, your lucky to see an Elephant tail or a Rhino horn as they are all hidden at the back of the enclosures, most of them were completly empty of animals due to high heat temperatures stated on the posted signs on the enclosures!, ah, well, don't these animals come from high heat countries like Africa?..

The Buffalo Zoo in Buffalo is a way better choice than this place and is worth the trip if you want to actually SEE an animal... This place should be free as they collect your money and don't care what you see, it is like paying for a show ticket at a live performance theater and no one comes out on stage and eventually you just leave not seeing the performance.. STAY AWAY!..

I dont know if it was bad timing or not but we went recently in a beautiful hot summer day, and we literally did not see more than 6 animals - the monkeys, lions, and other animals were out of sight. On top of that, the podcast which was supposed to provide a smooth guideline as we went wasnt cohesive - needs to be updated. The few animals we did see were either too far away from the cars or were hidden behind the trees and bushes. Overall, it was an okay experience.

I've been going for most of my life. Even though it's the same animals (almost always) its still worth going back (I go once a year). If you can (or cant) see past the blatant sadness in the animals eyes it's a great experience to share with friends or family.

The Toronto Zoo is a great place to get some exercise and see some exotic animals and plants. I've had a membership for probably 10 years now and every time I go, I see something new or different from the animals. The Toronto Zoo organization does some fantastic work in helping to preserve our wildlife!

We were visiting Toronto from the US and thought the zoo would be a nice place to visit. They sure have a lot of room to grow because you will do a lot of walking without seeing any animals. Each area has a long walk in between. The signage was also very lacking. Make sure you get a map because you will never find your way around by just using the signs. Nearly all food concessions were closed the day we visited. The prices in the gift shop were also as expected not a good value for anything you would like to get. I never understand that. They would make so much more money charging a reasonable price instead of getting nothing charging $30 for an item that would be $15 anywhere else.

This place is pretty good... It's huge and requires lots n lots of walking....if going with kids ensure that you have strollers or buggy's.... And you cannot see everything in a day. Consider season pass...it's at great price and the train ride is included with season pass.

The zoo is very quiet during the winter which allows you to walk around at your own pace. Quite a lot of the animals that are normally outside were not there due to the cold weather I believe, it would have been nice to know which animals were not there at the start of each domain so we could decide whether or not the trek would be worth it. E.g we only found out the bear was not there after walking all the way to the enclosure. Apart from that it was very enjoyable.

Drove through the Scenic Safari this weekend. It was a great social distancing initiative but unfortunately poorly executed. You are suposed to pick a 15-min time slot but they allow many cars into each slot. There were about 10 cars before and after us and cars are supposed to drive steadily at 5km/h all the way through. Unfortunately when animals are spotted, cars in front actually stop completely and take their time looking, so the whole line of cars behind cannot move and sit idling with no view of the animals. There are many zoo workers but nobody says to keep moving. They seem to be unhappy about being back to work. We saw many that were literally sitting in front of "Don't stop, Keep driving" signs but not doing a thing when cars would stop to look at animals. There are ice-cream stands along the route, so if a car wants to buy something, every car behind has to wait. No elephants, kangaroos, tigers, or baby giraffe (which we were really excited to see). We did see some zebras, monkeys, a lion from afar, a cheetah, a hyena, some flamingos, bulls, and a few rhinos. Bathrooms only upon entry but the parking area is not clearly outlined. Need to download the podcast BEFORE you arrive as there is no wifi and you need Spotify or another app that all 3 of us in the car did not have. When we asked about this one of the workers looked at us as if we had 2 heads and rudely told us to just download it. My kids don't have wifi on their cellphones and I don't have Spotify so we were out of luck. It was a mediocre experience, a nice thought but much below expectations.

The zoo is always and amazing time but .... they aren t too clear on their coupons ... I went with my daughter on a week day and there was as still a long line up ..... I was rather impressed with the new buggy system they have for patents to rent for the children .... single or double buggies and U have to leave a 5 dollar deposit that u get back when u are leaving the park..... I enjoyed the bird show they held at 12:00 then again at 2:00 pm ..... it s always exciting to see the animals but once again majority are sleeping

If you're in Toronto, this is a must see. The zoo has several different animals separated by "regions". The Tundra and Sea regions were the most interesting in my opinion. You can see that the animals are very well taken care of, specially because they run a lot of researches with them. The giant Pandas are very nice to see as well. Unfortunately, they're leaving Toronto in the next couple of months (I believe March 2018).

Very fun place to go if you love animals and lots of fun for the kids. Can easily kill a few hours and if purchase an annual membership you can come as many times as you want with the kids. Nicer outing than a park.

The animals were so diverse and it really seemed like everyone really cared about them and the big buildings with a certain biomes inside were so amazing! I think the favorite had to be the indo building with the panther and the butterflies. Absolutely incredible.

Extremely large and well planned and spread out zoo. Amazing variety of animals and birds. Children friendly environment. Lot of joints for food and beverages within the campus. Be ready to spend 6-7 hours of your time. There are multiple parking lots around the zoo area. Summers are best time to visit.

We did the drive through safari and had a great time. The only disappointment was that you couldn't see a lot of animals. It's not their fault and I would recommend the experience because what we did see what excellent.

It's a super cool place to see and learn about all sorts of different animals. When I went it was really hot and a lot of the animals were hiding trying to keep cool. You deffinatly need to make it an all day trip. I was there for 4-5 hours and I didn't get to see everything. But it was really busy, and crowded in some places. I wish there was more staff available in the pavilions, some people were banging on the glass, which is super annoying not only for me but for the animals as well.
