This is definitely one of the biggest zoos I've been to so be prepared to walk (or get the Zoo Mobile). Lots of animals here and lots of nice scenery. Come early in the day to make sure you get a chance to see everything you want to see. Definitely recommended (especially on the City Pass!)

Had a fantastic visit to the Toronto Zoo! We spent the day there during the heat wave. Lots of shaded pathways to roam, rode the Zoomobile, visited pavilions with AC to cool down in and saw plenty of animals! I didn't realize that they have a kid's water park now. Will definitely try that on our next visit.

My kids had fun! They had fun navigating with the map and finding the animals they wanted to see! The zoomobile ride was refreshing! The hike to see the animals was great, especially on a beautiful day! Pick the best weather for you to go there and you will have the best time!

The activities - splash pad, gorilla climb, and zipline - are quite attractive for the summer!

Overall, great adventure for kids!!!

Animals well kept, exhibits maintained excellently. Friendly staff and clean facilities. Food absurdly overpriced but you can bring your own. Many nice trails and little spits that feel kinda magical.

I think I've reviewed the Toronto Zoo before... I love coming here in the winter. You get great access to the animals, the crowds are way more manageable, and the rates are a little lower.

No train service makes for a good walk!

I like this zoo. You see that the keepers can work very well with their animals. An improvement would be to print better maps on the paper you get at the cash register. (they are hard to read / understand). One section of the zoo is also not fitted for people with a wheelchair or people with a stroller. This is because you need to descent a steap slope and ascent back up as there is no other way.

Great place to visit with family & kids and be prepared to walk a lot. Choose a day which is good weather wise and in general avoid windy or colder or humid days unless prepared for it. Take advantage of the public transport and if wanted to visit by your own transport yes lot of parking options. Lot of wild animals to see and are categorized continent wise, we spotted lions and tiger. Overall it's a Must visit with kids. Entry fee could have been cheaper

It have lots of green area. But not to much variety of animals.
I can understand Canada being a cold country it's hard to keep all different kind of animals specially indoor during winter. But otherwise it was fun place. You can take your own food.

The keepers are super friendly and knowledgeable and the map is easy to follow. The animals were so cute, my boyfriend and I were so excited with all the animals we got to see! We went recently, so some weren't out yet, but overall it was amazing! It's so big we didn't get to finish it all in 1 day so we'll definitely be back when it gets warmer! A great way to spend the day! Definitely pee when you see a bathroom though because sometimes they feel few and far between.

The amount of diversity in animals they have here is amazing. I am not a huge Zoo person but I really wanted to attend the Toronto Zoo due to the amount of variety they have here. Even when visited during the winter they still have a ton of things to do. There were Giraffes, Lions, Tigers, Orangutans and more to look at. Mostly they are indoors due to the weather but they all have very large outdoor fields where they are allowed to free roam. They have an extraordinary walkway which allows you to always be in view of an animal. This is definitely a place to visit if you are looking for something to do. Also the restaurant choices are limited so make sure to either eat before or pack a lunch! But if you are not picky then by all means eat at the restaurant.

I've visited the Toronto Zoo twice now. Back in 2015 when it was just my husband and I and now in 2018 with our toddler. We loved it both times! The second time was especially lovely because when you see the animals from a child's wonderous eyes, the excitement passes on.

On a more practical note, the rush is lesser on the weekdays but almost all cafeterias inside open only on weekends. So keep something to munch on coz walking for hours does make one hungry. Keep at least 4-5 hours to do justice to the place, wear your most comfortable shoes and try to come in the morning so that you can be there for some of the 'Meet the Keeper' time slots. And if you have a kid, you can hire a stroller or a wagon for about 10 bucks at the gate.

Superb experience, worth every penny, keep the whole day as it s a huge place. Have to walk a lot but there is option of shuttle or around 9/10 usd per head which has around 3 stops around major attractions of the zoo. The shuttle is worth it as it saves a bit of walk.

So many great animals and exhibits! It's a wonderful place for kids and adults alike. It's so big you probably need 2 or 3 days you really see everything, especially if you've got kids with you. World class zoo with amazing zookeepers.

Better than my last experience in 2003. But I must say it being a Saturday and seeing most of the ice cream selling points being closed was not good. It rained in the morning, but the afternoon was hot even though not as sunny.
The splash area was dirty with lots of puddling around the area with rain water.
The zoo staff is extremely friendly and was always willing to explain. Kudos to them!!

A great way to spend a morning or afternoon seeing and learning about some of the world's amazing animals. During the covid19 pandemic, the Toronto Zoo has done a great job in providing hand sanitizing stations at every pavilion, and enough staff to ensure questions and safety are followed by all guests. The staff moreover are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the zoo's resident animals.

Love the Toronto Zoo, have been going since I was very young and now got to bring my daughter for the first time. It is quite expensive considering we could only stay for a short period of time as my daughter had to go home for her nap. But at least she is free. Food is super expensive and nothing to right home about.

I had the pleasure to go to the drive through safari. I'm so happy they came up with a great idea on how to keep money coming in to take care of the animals. I had an amazing time, saw a few animals and it was a very wonderful way to get out of the house while staying safe.

As a +50 age group - past family member - I was not very impressed with the changes in the zoo staff attitudes. As a younger parent I recall staff members willing to actually help people - offering advice - directions - and staff that genuinely seemed interested in helping people enjoy the experience. Fast forward 25 years - there was simply nobody that offered any advice other then 1 staff member just inside the gate. She was very polite and kind. I have nothing negative to say about any particular staff member but in whole the just seem to ignore you. Hello - people like being noticed - just a tip.
I also noticed - the huge drop in exhibits over the years, although there were food venues added to zoo over the year's - not one was open, no zoo mobile running, no Safari tours running, not even any way for a person to get a drink other then a few vending machines scattered around the zoo.
When did lack of people skills, methods of transportation and zero food and water take precedence over extremely high price of admission? It might be a good suggestion to tell people on the way in there's no food or water available, no transportation available, no kids facilities open, no rides open, reduced exhibits and yes you still have to pay full price to get in.
So overall - just disappointed. You've forgotten about the people factor and I believe the experience is now tainted for my family. Good luck with yours.

What an absolute gem of a place, I went during the weekday with my kids. Had a wonderful time, saw a lot of different animals and even caught some of the feedings. Staff were very friendly and certainly knew a lot about the animals. Can't reccomend this place enough, well done.

I really enjoy going to the Toronto zoo. It's huge, well maintained with lots to see and do. This is something that my daughter loves, and we usually end up spending 6 or more hours there. Expect high prices - but definitely worth it. Lots of walking too.

I love the animals and I would send time from opening to the time it closes. The workers there are so friendly can also knowledgeable.
Those that come to the zoo with children, since the zoo is so big I recommend not to see all of it in one day. Choose an area, enjoy it, and make the second visit to see another area. It will be worth it. Also washrooms are available all over the zoo.

Great place for families, dates, hanging out with friends, or just to walk on your own. Check the web site because some of the restaurants/ take-aways only operate seasonally. Seasonal events can add a little something extra to your visit. Always nice if you can catch one of the zoo-keeper talks. Weekends are pretty busy.

Another family place to spend a day trip together. I love those animal, especially the polar bear!

I went there a few times by car and bus. If you don t want to get crazy with the parking, subway and buses are the other option. Get off at Don mill station or Kennedy station and take bus 86.

The zoo is now open for foot traffic and you can prebook your ticket online for a specific time. It was a great experience (considering Covid times) and everything was super organized. The path is one way and takes about 2 hours if you stop a few times. The staff were super friendly and were cleaning the doors and handles regularly. The washrooms are open, it seemed like they were only permitting one person at a time and cleaning after each person. We were able to see quite a few animals (not all) but we didn't mind. Great job to the zoo staff for being able to reopen safely for everyone

A nice place but can be better. After having visited the Zoo of Moscow, i didn't feel amazed by the one of Toronto. I was expecting a bit more mainly when paying more. There's a lot of potential; adding the number of animals and species would be great. However, well maintained and you can definitely enjoy your long walk there. Worth visiting.

A fantastic place to go learn about conservation. Great for the family. Even in the colder months the zoo is a fantastic place to spend the day. The indoor pavillions are fantastic and the crowds tend to be smaller.

Memberships are affordable as well.

I loved seeing all the animals loved the turtles all my pic but a few were on my camera not may phone best time to go is when there are not a lot of screaming kids as that tends to scare the animals off. When we were there there were a few different baby animals to see only missed seeing one as it was not out.

Took the opportunity to visit the zoo through the scenic safari tour during the pandemic. It is definitely not worth going because you hardly see any animals. I think we saw flamingos, hyenas, rhinos, zebras, and horses, as well as a few bird species. I would definitely recommend going after they open up the regular walk-in visit. Also, the concession stand along the tour had overly priced drinks and ice cream, so if you do plan on going I would suggest bringing ur own food and drinks.

This zoo is one of the largest ones I have ever visited. It has quite large zones and can be difficult to walk around to every section in a day (getting there early can help avoid this), but there is a bus that goes around that is hope on hop off for a cost. Definitely enjoyed my experience here. There are so many different species of animals. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Toronto.

Great place for a day of outing with family. With a Tim Horton's located onsite and two gift stores, you are sure to enjoy. Also, help the zoo by purchasing memberships, general donations and the veterinary care of the animals. Safari rides also available. Zoo is served by TTC and tourist buses as well Visit torontozoo.com for more details. Have loads of fun!

We went there on a Monday and some of the shops weren't open. But the zoo itself offered more than enough attractions: from the widely popular pandas to polar bears, to cute and fluffy red pandas.
The zoo shop features note papers made from animal poo, which is quite ingenious.

We got a membership this year and I can say it's definitely worth it!
There's a lot of places to explore and animals to see. My son absolutely loves it everytime we go. With the membership, there's no rush to go around the whole Zoo in one day. The Zoomobile is also "free" for members to ride anytime.
We live less than 15 minutes away so we can go often and maximize the membership.

I have given the Toronto 3/5 stars for the following reasons

- clean park. Lots of washrooms. One employee/volunteer said the washroom would be cleaned after every customer but that wasn t the case- it wasn t really needed tho, so she shouldn t of said that to us as we walked In (please note this visit was end of summer of covid-19 pandemic)
- food is overpriced. Yes- you can bring coolers and drinks into the zoo I didn t know that. I bought chicken nuggets (4 small nuggets) Coke Zero and onion rings cost $20.08
- the zoo is not walkable friendly. Like half a day you walk over 5km. And we only did one section- we never made it to the America s or Australia.... With a stroller and packed full of sh!t, pardon me- I was done by 11:30am and we arrive at 10.
-half of attractions closed due to covid but I m still charged the full price... ?!?!?!?

Overall great experience

The Toronto Zoo is a great place to spend the day all year round! Lots of animals and activities for singles, couples, families and groups. Beaver tail and smokes poutine are open on weekends year round, then open all summer with Tim Hortons for a variety of food options in addition to the snack bars.

I have a membership to the Toronto Zoo and have had it for several years. My son is now two years old and he constantly requests to go to the zoo (across the city) on Saturdays. We always have a good time, especially when it's the low season and not many visitors are present. Arctic animals are more active of course in the winter, and there are plenty of animals, activities including a carousel and a water park for kids activities. Good dating location for animal lovers, too. The zoo is clean and there's always plenty of parking. Great place.
