Great hotel and very friendly staff.

Great hotel and very friendly staff.
It's close to the woods, so you can really rest.
The building itself and the rooms need remodeling.

Nice quaint hotel with restaurants and stores all within walking distance. Beautiful area and hotel staff were all very nice. We stayed here during my sister's wedding nearby and they accommodated all of us. We were a pretty large group. We also catered breakfast after the wedding the next day and got to enjoy it outside that morning. The food was good quality and staff were very attentive. We had a great stay and they took care of all our needs and most importantly the bride and groom.

The Toll House is likely the premier hotel in Los Gatos and is very clean but it is a private hotel and doesn t follow the rules that the big brands chains have in place. This will mean it is difficult for me to describe expectation.

It has a nice bar just off the lobby and a small courtyard in the center of the hotel that makes summer visits nice.

Los Gatos is also one of the few nice small town centers left. It s perfect to walk around and the local creek is nearby.
Los Gatos is also one of those old wealthy towns so expect to see the Ferrari s, McClaren s and multitude of Teslas roaming around.

As always, if you found this review useful please remember to like it. If people like the review (whether you agree or not), it encourages me to write more ;)

I went to toll house for an annual girls Christmas party. We had a ton of fun and got to enjoy the lounge area with enormous bears and holiday music. Over all it was a great place to sleep and have a nice drink at. I would come back.

We have stayed at the Toll House for the past few ...

We have stayed at the Toll House for the past few years and sadly, watched it go downhill. It's a great location because you can walk anywhere in the downtown area, but like many popular hotels, after a while they quit investing in maintenance and try to ride the wave. We have really enjoyed it here in the past, but this is likely our last stay here.
The issues we had:

-- Confusing room selection. We were immediately upgraded to a "premier king" but then found there is really no such thing. I'm not sure if it's just a marketing scam or not.
-- The carpet, wall coverings, etc. are all getting dated and need replaced. It doesn't feel much different than nice Best Western or something like that. One of the tiles on the front steps was loose and it was just blocked off rather than being fixed. The repair would have been easy.
-- We were there four days and every one of the days had business meetings going on. No problem with that other than most of the common areas are not accessible to hotel guests. They had signs up all week directing hotel guests to detour through the hallways in order to get out the front door because the lobby area was set up for refreshments for the meeting attendees. Additionally, the noise from the bar every night was much louder than it has been in the past. It really felt more like we were sleeping in a small convention center than a hotel.

If you can book this for about $150 off season and $200 in the peak, I'd still do it but otherwise I'd look on down the road.

i stayed here for one night during my brief visit to Santa Cruz. upon arrival to my room, i found the white tiled shower sprinkled with black hairs and dirty tissues by the bed. when i asked when it was last cleaned, the said it was cleaned that morning. i have brought up the condition of the room multiple times - to the person checking me in (enrique), the person checking me out (alex), and left a voicemail for the assistant general manager (abel). i have been assured that someone will be getting back to me to address the issue. it has been 4 days and i have yet to receive a call or any sort of communication. terrible experience!

The staff and service is friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the walls and floors here are paper thin. That means you will hear your neighbors walking in the hallway, closing doors, footsteps upstairs, and conversations in the room next to you at all hours of the day.

So either pack ear plugs or choose another hotel.

Friendly staff, a few things around the hotel could use updating. Disappointing that the courtyard closes at 10pm. The fitness center is a bit lacking, but better then other hotels. The inside bar is nice to have, and is walking distance to pretty much everything in town.

We ate at the restaurant outside the lobby and enjoyed our meal. Wife and I shared Brussels sprouts and a steak entree. The hotel is beautiful and so is the restaurant. Staff do their best to give top notch service.

What used to be a very nice well maintained hotel with well trained staff is now way past tired. Interior furniture in bad condition, outdoor porch dusty substandard furniture. We thought it was bad two years ago but now so awful. Some staff neglected to wear mask including front deskclerk when we checked in. No screen between us and him. Bizarre. The only good thing is good location.

First off the staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious.

The biggest downside was that their restaurant / bar is closed. I realize it's because of Covid, but it didn't mention that on the website. I would have packed my own cocktails if I had known.

It is a great place to stay, and I'm definitely going to stay there again.

Can't get a room by phone to save your life. I must have called 10 times and was asked how to direct my call. Each time I was directed to an automated line and never got any help. I finally went somewhere else. Guess they don't need business. In they end you guys SUCK.

This review is in regards to booking a hotel block...

This review is in regards to booking a hotel block at Toll House for our wedding. We did so a year in advance pre-COVID, never imagining hitting a pandemic and not being able to fill all of the rooms. Despite the fact that Toll House could have kept us on the hook for our contract, they very kindly and generously canceled our wedding block with no hassle at all, making what was a very stressful rescheduling/cancellation debacle a little bit easier for us. We are incredibly grateful to them for their handling of the situation and this will be our go to hotel anytime we come home to visit our families, and we look forward to our stay there in a couple of weeks. Thank you Toll House for being wonderful to work with!!

Some parts below average and some parts above. That applies especially to front desk staff. Housekeeping knocking on my door every few minutes for a few hours because they didn't get the word that I had extended my stay, but when word filtered down, they didn't service the room. Very hard to navigate how to get in from the street and once inside, even to just find the front desk.
