Large market with a large variety of food. As well as food, there are a few shops here and there selling trinkets and stationary. The market is, as many are now, expensive. But the food is good.
There are limited vegan and gluten free options, however. It would be simple enough to add at least one vegan and/or gluten free option on a menu.
There is music in the evening and enough room to dance (when it's not too busy)!

I was excited to visit this market while in Lisbon, but everytime I stopped by it was always incredibly busy and unwelcoming. If you go I'd recommend trying to get a table alongside the restaurants at the back, on either side of the main hall, where you get a bit more space and attention.

Come for the experience, stay for the vast variety of options for food. It's a large food court with tons of variety the food looks fresh at every station.

I gave it a 4* due to price, you can get cheaper food at a more authentic restaurant, but nonetheless the atmosphere is great. Something worth checking out even if you don't end up eating food.

I ended up eating at Alexandre Silva, I got the cod along with pardon peppers. The Cod was great especially again for a food court, peppers were okay.

I'm vegan and there were not many options for me at this market. If you are looking for a slighty over priced local experience this is the spot. Lots of traditional foods at gourmet standards for sure. There are so many amazing restaurants tucked away all across Lisbon I'd rather go walking and sit at a local restaurant. Did the market once during my trip and that was enough.

This place is very nice because of the style they chose for it and also because of the food. It's a bit of a hassle to find a table though. Definitely check it out if you visit Lisbon though.

I really do enjoy coming to this market. I think it has a great selection of food options and drink options my only hesitation is with so many amazing portugese restaurants around this does feel heavily catered for tourists. The prices made me feel that way too. It was a great experience...and I think necessary to go as long as it is not your only eating and drinking spot!

The best place to eat in Lisbon in my particular opinion! Many choices, only really good food, and for desert 2 precious options: Ice Cream at Santini or Pastel de Nata at la Manteigaria. It is a MUST GO Lisbon!

Must visit place in Lisbon! :D Food are pricey, compared to any other local restaurants, but they sure have the top quality and a cozy atmosphere. It s a nice market to visit once you re in Lisbon :)

As an indecisive human, this place is a nightmare, so much really tasty food in one place. Surely one of the nicest problems to have! Worth a visit for the sheer volume of food, good quality and of many different varieties. Burgers, traditional Portuguese, Asian, all mixed in together so just jump in, order something, then sit at the large communal tables and enjoy your choice, while being slightly envious of other people's choices. No worries though, you could always come back tomorrow!

The TimeOut Market, the ambitious undertaking of a famous publishing house (originally known for its magazines dedicated to "good times" in many a world city and then for its similar web resources), is located in the building of LIsbon food market, Mercado da Ribeira (a Riverside Market, situated along (and set somewhat in from) the Tagus river bank, about 1 minute walk from the famous "pink street" ( Rua Nova do Carvalho), and about 10 minutes' walk from Lisbon downtown (Baixa, pronounced with a "sh" and not "ex"). It is divided into 2 parts, to both sides of the main hallway, the 5 years old TimeOut Market and "Mercado Tradicional", one of your regular fish, meat and produce Lisbon farmers' markets.

All in all, one can easily get a heaping and filling plate of very fresh and high quality food for under 15 euro.
For our fellow foodies we ought to mention that even the staff offered by the local famous chefs is not the stuff you see in their restaurants but rather Bourdain'ish kind of simple street food savoured by the diners along with generous libations (mostly beer but wine as well). The visitors are definitely not Lisboetas but Irish, Germans, Americans, Russians, French and other guests of the city.
Those who love communal table seating and informal ambiance would definitely enjoy the place. Others may just find a quick walk worth their time.

Great variety, slightly overpromises in terms of quality but generally good. Fairly reasonable prices. Very* busy at mealtimes. Would recommend going really late at night to avoid huge crowds.

As it said on a sign in the market:

As it said on a sign in the market:
If it s good it makes it into the magazine.
But if it s great it makes it into the market!

If you go to this eighth wonder of the foodie world, do not be expecting a market, more a collection of great restaurants, all selling incredible food! The communal seating adds to the atmosphere and allows you to pick and choose between restaurants!

Nice food court, but on the expensive end. Especially for self service. Many different options and excellent for big groups that want different food.

The court area is way too warm. The should install proper aircon.

I loved the diversity of food all in one place. I went here like three times during my stay and everything looked so good. Not cheap though, so prepare to spend more than a chipotle burrito. I am not a fan of portugese food. too many carbs and I miss my salads, so this is a great alternative. But they do have portugese food here too, and plenty.

Like a all-year food market - have never seen something like this before...

Basically different restaurant with different styles come together in one market and offer their food. You can select from a wide variety, but especially lots of fish and dessert

Definitely worth to go there even if you just want to look at different cooks and food.

Great location in the heart of Lisbon.

Great location in the heart of Lisbon.

Busy but we found a seat quickly. With its wide range of options and lively atmosphere, it s a great place for groups.

We had some traditional croquettes and cured ham, all of which were delicious. The burgers looked amazing as well!

Only criticisms would be that it is slightly over priced - most mains were about 9-12, which for a market place was more than I was expecting - and it being sponsored/owned by TimeOut was a bit of a turn off haha

Even though the first impression is really good and the prices are affordable for the food. The drinks are very expensive, the time to wait for your food is approximately 40 to 45 minutes and it is freaking warm inside.

This place is just not for me. Too touristic! Too crowded! Would not recommend this, spend your money elsewhere!!

Not the same place as it used to be.

Not the same place as it used to be.
The food was good, but very pricey.
It's only for tourists to take a picture and post it somewhere.

The "Time out" market was a delicious experience. We went for dinner at around 8pm and it was full of people sitting at high tables eating from the different restaurant window foods, from meat, Italian, Asian to the traditional fish dishes. We ate really well at Euros 13/14 a dish, which could have been served at any good restauran of London. It was Tuesday and the atmosphere really good.
A place to go to if you pass by Lisbon, a must. We are going back tonight!

Very cool and hype. Very trendy, and very all those words that makes something desirable in modern society.
A shame that in all their coolness, they forgot that parenting is not a women only thing now, and men bathrooms don't have a single space to change your baby.
A nice place, but not as cool as it think it is.

Great variety of food. Normal prices. Perfect place to eat if you want to choose between a variety of worldkitchens. Everybody in the family can choose where they want to order and eat on the same table. They give you a device that wil tell you when to pick up your order. Watch out for pickpocket!

Very modern with no sense of culture or uniqueness. Basically a large mall food court, generic signage and restaurants and no real deals. nothing like the mercados in Madrid or Barcelona. I think it was built for tourists, aka LAME. Feels very western/American. Plenty of seating though.

Not really as good as I expected it to be. The food is all high quality and it was really good food. But is expensive and mostly main meals so it s difficult to try a few places. Seating was not a problem for us, but the toilets are pretty disgusting, half not working and smelt. Overall I would rather have just booked a nice restaurant.

French people taking up the rather limited spots and not even eating there. We managed to buy food, find a place, finish eating and leave and there were still groups of people just holding spaces, not allowing others to take a chair or seat. Very rude. Though the food is good, management should think of better options for visitors seating.

It's a very good place to eat, the food we tried from 2 restaurants were awesome. It's just a little hard to find a place to seat. We ordered our food first and than started to look for a place to seat, bit the food was ready so fast that we needed to do some rounds holding the food until we could seat.
