A great place to eat mostly local food, but also more exotic cuisine. The hardest parts are choosing which restaurants to try, and trying to find a place to seat!

So, how does the Time Out Market work?
1. You order your food at one of the restaurants where they give you a buzzer that will flash and buzz once your order is ready
2. You try to find a place to seat in the central area of the market.
3. Get your food and enjoy!

The food is top notch and the atmosphere is indeed like a market place. Restaurants selected by Time Out line up the all four sides of the building so you'll have plenty of menus to choose from, from Portuguese to Chinese. The salmon and cuttlefish hamburger and fish and chips were both delicious.
However, if you're tired of fellow tourists or if you're looking for more down-to-earth places that serves traditional Portuguese food, I'd say skip this place.

When i was there in december 2019 it was very crowded and very overpriced. It is convenient if you get stuck for a place to go. The park next to it is a nice place to sit for a drink. It is better to visit the restaurants in their own location around the city rather than what they serve in the market i believe.

If you know Timeout you could imagine the place, if you don't it give you a unique experience. The food is great, several choices from the very well known restaurants. You can spend time with friends or family (even with kids, we have a 2 years old baby and it was convenient).

Fantastic range of great food but be prepared to wait a long time for a space at the tables.

It would be better if they had a system to promote the flow of guests - plenty of people were still using much needed table seats long after they had finished eating. While this is generally normal at a restaurant, it's not suitable here when it's so busy - so if you're lucky enough to get a spot, be considerate to your fellow foodies and vacate when you're done! <3

Think food court. Instead of BK and Panda Express garbage you have some of the best food joints in Lisbon. PLUS, there's beer and wine. No brainer. An absolute must visit if you want to try all the best foods in one place.

Very interesting and popular market place to visit and to grab some food with your friends. A lot of choice of different cousins, large and open place , not much privacy if you are with your sweetheart, but other than that I was glad that we have visited this impressive place.

I don t know why it was so busy. The food was ok. The prices were fine for what they had.
We were not impressed with the chaos infested eating arena.
The tourists were inviting, but the locals were not pleased to be sharing their space with us, or so it seemed to us.
We will spend our money on smaller, independent places as they seem happy to see us

Good place to grab a bite and drinks, many stalls though finding a table on busy evenings may be cumbersome. We went for dinner after a day of sight seeing at Belem and enjoyed the experience.

The place is all about good food, honest prices, vast options of mesls and desserts. Very friendly and modern atmosphere in a nive and well located place. It s very crowded so you have to fight for a table, specially if you re in a group.

Nice food court style market, in a beautiful location and with very good food of all kinds, styles, and cuisines. However, when it's crowded - especially at weekends and holidays - it becomes impossible to find seating. We ended up walking about for 40 minutes, with (luckily cold) food trays in hand before we found three seats that weren't occupied by people eating, or worse, people "saving" seats for when they would finally get their food. Also, there is no proper "staging" area so the space in front of the food stalls is blocked by people reading menus or waiting for food. Quite frustrating design. Go during the week if you can! And please - make space for those who already have food :)

Everything okay, but you can feel that it was build for tourists. So if you don't mind that go for it, if you do go through the city and look for a authentic restaurant and enjoy an authentic atmosphere. Also a bit overpriced for the portion size and self service. Overall we're disappointed because we had higher expectations.

It s a nice place to taste many Portugal dishes but the organization sucks as everything in European countries like Italy, Spain et etc... It s impossible to find a seat place in the food court, there are too many groups of tourists which occupy the places when somebody is ordering. Especially the French people. They are moving the chairs to their table and just keep them occupied, I ordered and had my meals standing and they still where just waiting and occupying the places and chairs. It s just an arrogant behaviour. So, me experience was negative because of it even I had good mix of dry cured meat, cheese and croquets.

Love the fact that there's a variety of food to choose from on top of their free wifi available! They sell cheap preserved seafood in cans here too - Tricana! Much cheaper than if bought in the UK - almost half the price.

Lots of stalls with food. The place comes very recommended. The dishes we tried were really good. The concept is something u might find in any bigger city and it is well finished here. The public seemed to be a mix of tourists and locals. The only minus is that it's really overcrowded and a bar-girl told us it is busy from opening until closing every day.

Ate here 3 times. 1 great experience and 2 average experiences. The Portuguese food is generally better. The Asian food is not authentic, the curry is bland and watered down (speaking as an Asian who grew up in Asia).

We weren t too hungry when we visited so didn t have much. From what we tried, we highly recommend the Asian flavour beef tartare (I think that s the name) from Tartar-Ria. It is the best beef tartare we ve ever had! The meat board was average (can t remember which stall it was from).

It s very cozy place to have sharing food with friends. All the food stand at the side and you can pick what you want. Good combination with bar and food stands. The beer are also good price for big cup. The burger are super juicy and the steak is just right. The Asian Pad Thai has strong favor and tastes good. The food are quite big portions but the price for the food maybe a little more expensive than outside of the market in Portugal.

Don't pretend to say you visited the best restaurants in Lisbon by just visiting Time out / mercado da ribeira. For sure this place can help you to have a refreshment of the most famous, modern, updated chef & recipes in town. A deep finest research requires you to not limit yourself by researching restaurants and chef, especially outside Lisbon. Enjoy your homeworks

One word. Amazing! The range & quality of food is up there. Use of tech to signal that your food is ready to collect while you wait is a novel idea. I hope Manchester gets its very own version.

Crazy crowded place of people from all over the eating, or actually, trying to get a seat for few minutes to eat a meal, from one of the many stalls, each one offers a different set of dishes.
Crazy, but tasty and interesting human phenomenon.
If you are a tourist in Lisbon you shouldn't miss the place. Go for it to eat lunch.

Loved the variety of choices offered. Definitely a must visit place while in Lisbon. Every restaurant actually exists as a restaurant in Lisbon so its a good option to choose what you like. Crowded. Positive vibes

A fun experience. Really nice food options. The drinks are pricy here but that's to be expected. Make sure to arrive early, by 12 for lunch to get a seat, particularly if you are a bigger group. One of the best places to get custard tarts at Manteigaria. A fun way to spend a rainy day indoors.

Great vibe and good choice of food which you can eat at tables all in the centre of the market. This time we ate at the Asian place, good flavours, price and portion size. All cooked fresh in front of you.

This is a good spot to see some local Portuguese food at a glance, but I felt like I had better - it's probably because we came here on our last day, so please keep that in mind as you read my review. Here's where we sampled:

1) Tartaria: friends got sea bass ceviche (friend said too limey, but husband enjoyed) and tuna tartar (friends loved it)
2) Henrique Sa Pessoa: omg delicious crispy pork sandwich. Get it.
3) Meredith Vieira: we got the 3 chefs petiscos (not bad) and the caldeirada (seafood stew - good seafood flavor but way too salty)
4) Blue Seafood: oysters (fellow oyster loving friend said they're just ok)
5) (forget the name!!): octopus hot dog - lol - so good, get this.

It was a nice atmosphere - it is, after all, a trendy food hall - and luckily, it wasn't that packed. My 2 cents for visitors is to come here to see the variety of food available, sample some, and then look for different and more local versions elsewhere.
