Damon is my HERO! After months of looking, I found my house Sat night, Memorial Day weekend. I called the lender I had been working with and found her unavailable. She knew the struggle I had been through but told me "it's just a job and it's a holiday weekend. If I didn't make the offer that night, I would lose the house! My agent recommended calling Damon. Damon picked up the phone at 9pm and had my approval letter ready by midnight. What a nightmare! I started working with Bill Forrest the middle of September. The appraiser who did the appraisal was a trainee and came in with a value $13k below a comp less than a half a mile away. The other comps used were not even real comps. After a feeble attempt to contest the appraisal, Bill told me they would refund me the cost. Then a couple days later he said they would not refund the cost. I was demanding a new appraisal by someone who was fully licensed and from the area. He refused. A glitch was found in the title which I spent a month resolving. Then on the Friday night around 6 p.m. before the Monday we are supposed to close, I received a call from the processor requesting more documentation. By then it was a month and a half into the process and we are supposed to close on Monday Four hours later she has all the documents she needs (yes, we were on the phone the entire time with me scanning and emailing documents to her. Documents Bill should have asked for.) I am on a strict deadline and the refi MUST close today...I doubt it will since no time was ever set. It is clear my refi was not a priority and Bill said as much during the process because he had some new loans to take care of. He even asked me for two referrals for business. We will see what today brings, but at this point I would not recommend Tidewater Mortgage at all. The loan closed a day late and they tried a bait and switch, promising one thing and trying to deliver another. I strongly recommend that you NEVER use Tidewater Mortgage for any of your financial needs. There is zero communication between loan officer and processor and they promise you one thing but then try not to deliver. If I had not recorded conversations, I would not have gotten what they promised. It should NOT take TWO HOURS to close a refi!!!!!
All the staff with whom we dealt at Tidewater was professional, efficient, and always timely with responses to questions. Mike Hosang had helped us refi a couple of years ago when we needed to, but the rates were higher. He contacted us this time round when rates had dropped sufficiently to make refinancing very attractive, and we are now saving hundreds on our monthly mortgage payments. The process was easy and entirely online with the exception of closing, which was quickly and efficiently executed. Could not recommend Mike and his team at Tidewater more highly.
Tidewater Mortgage did what other could not do for me. My DTB was high and most loan officers won't work with me. Tidewater Mortgage had people who knows mortgages well and willing to do extra documents and reviews to get me through. Unlike salesmen try to sale you products. They helped me to get what I need. This is the business I can rely on when I need helps.

It took a month for my broker to find an error in my loan application that cost me the loan and the house that I was trying to buy. This was after I had already had my pre-approval letters drafted and had received an initial loan approval.

Cris Miller is the most unprofessional loan officer I have encountered, and one of the most unprofessional people I have encountered. He constantly called me sweetie over the phone and through email. He made promises he could not keep. He constantly requested the same documents (that I had already sent to him) over and over. He made THREE erroneous credit checks and made no effort to fix the issue stating that they were accidental. I would truly love to know how you can accidentally pull someone s credit even once, and then do it multiple times? I could not be more dissatisfied with my home buying process. I was a first time homebuyer, and the whole experience was a nightmare. Cris Miller attributed to that.

i would make sure that you are fully approved before proceeding with this company. They Pre-approved us told us to go find a house so we did and then they say Nope Nevermind you arent approved because of XYZ which should have been predetermined. They are also extremely hard to get ahold of.
Brandon and his staff as Tidewater Mortgage did a fantastic job assisting Lauren and I sort through mortgage options to come up with a great rate and down playment that worked for our budget. We were building aa custom home and had a few bumps along the way including a 6 week delay due to a faulty faucet connection which resulted in minor water damage 10 days from our original closing date. But Tidewater Mortgsge reassured us and assistedain every way they could to ensure our original finance plans were intact.

Did a refinance on our home for the purpose of lowering our monthly payments due to the LOW interest rates being offered. We dealt with Bob and Becky when we first bought the home and that process was easy and great so we decided to go with them again for the refinance and were not disappointed. Would highly recommend Tidewater Mortgage Services, Inc. if you are in the market to purchase or refinance your home.
Do NOT deal with this company! My Realtor suggested this company saying she does business with them all the time. I should not have listened. I want to mention, my family has bought and refinanced SEVERAL homes in the past 10yrs, so we are aware of the process involved in purchasing a home. (None were in the Hampton Roads area though). The senior loan officer I dealt with could not even read a normal bank statement, continuously changing her statement and blaming it on changing laws and regulations. She was also difficult to reach at times and brought her personal life matters into a business deal. My credit scores were all near excellent yet she kept making me feel like a child telling me I have to fill out a budget sheet (income and expenses) as part of the loan process. What? Also, I provided the originally asked for, 2 months of bank statements and 2 years of tax statements but it wasn t enough. I ended up providing 4 months of bank statements as well as other paper work they decided to ask for one piece at a time and more and more. Unfortunately that was not even the worst part. When I saw the first draft of closing papers, my down payment was more than the minimum needed (on purpose), however, at final signing and on the final closing papers not even a week later, my down payment was all of a sudden reduced and there were new as well as increased underwriting charges. My final closing cost stayed the same but my down payment was reduced by over $2k conveniently bringing it to the minimum required and the loan company pocketed the rest. At one point, I went to talk to my parents bank which is around 100 miles away from here. They were willing to finance the home after reviewing my paper work for not even a day and all I needed to provide them was a loan transfer number so they can start their process which would have taken another couple days but I was afraid that the seller of the home I was purchasing was going to walk away from the deal due to the time it had already taken at this point. Tidewater Mortgage company should be investigated for Fraud and the staff should be required to go back to school! Do yourself a favor and shop around for Mortgage companies.
