Just landed and we were hungry. Walked over from our hotel. Seated quickly. Restaurant is huge. Lots of high top bar tables and lots of seating around the bar. The dining area had lots of space between tables. A lot of large tables for groups. See photo. The food was delicious. Had the beef skewer appetizer. Had a nice large salad before the meal. The salmon Fresca was just right. See photos. Really enjoyable experience with a wonderful server, Chelsea. Great personality, great service. I rarely give 5 * rating.

We had our son and daughter in law's rehearsal dinner last Friday. It couldn't have gone smoother. Theresa was awesome to work with. We had the Forest room with a fireplace . the food was good and the service was great. Very pleased .

I have tried the Sunday brunch twice now, and although it was not bad per se, I just don't think the quality of the food is worth the $15 when there are better options right in town. The omelette station is very good and nice to have in a buffet brunch, but all of the other options are always somewhat disappointing. Soggy bacon. Dry sausage links. The fresh fruit both times has tasted less than fresh.

Was kind of surprised that this place showed up on so many top 10 list for places to eat in Rockford. It was okay, but nothing more. Sirloin tips were average, chicken sandwich was below average, and the cheese curds were meh. Nothing impressive, nothing horrible.

We have had brunch here for several years and it's outstanding for the price. A very nice selection of breakfast items along with vegetables and salads, and a carvery station with meat. Great service too! There's always lots of families with lots of guests and they put tables together to accommodate everyone. Love it!

We went at lunch and ordered off dinner menu. The mac n cheese with the 3 meats was over cooked, dry, tasteless. The steak was wonderful. Stuffed mushrooms were heavenly. Do want to return and try great sounding lunch menu. Bloody Mary's were quite good but expensive.

Really cozy cabiny atmosphere, great service, and a really diverse menu with plenty of options to satisfy anyone from the health conscious, to meat and potatoes people, to someone craving the unique and new gastronomic adventure.

I have been to this location a few other times when in town for work. Every time I go it is always very pleasant and great food. The inside has a very interesting and unique decor and it is extremely clean and the staff is a tentative with all your needs. The outside area is clean and safe, we have never had any issues or concerns when visiting this location. The menu is pretty well laid out and the pricing is average for this type of restaurant. I can usually have a nice dinner with a beverage and be done right around $40. I highly recommend this location to others and I will certainly continue to come back myself one in town.

The food arrived as promised and there were no problems. Special requests were accommodated with a smile. They are doing social distancing and masking and everything we ordered was so delicious. Coconut shrimp, peppercorn crusted salmon salad with goat cheese and crostini and beer batter shrimp.

Great food! Everything we had was delicious. Its a little pricey, but well worth it. They have decently large servings and an interesting menu. I am looking forward to returning and trying their desserts that look phenomenal!

Despite the restaurant being empty for a Saturday evening(game 4 of the World Series) the service was so incredibly slow. Our food came out luke warm and when I needed our server to tell her that, I had to get out of my seat to locate her and found her chatting with co-workers(including the manager I believe) at the host stand. Despite my clear disappointment the manager never addressed us. Would not recommend this restaurant.

I have to say... with covid closings happening they did VERY well at maintaining social distancing. And not only that the service was amazing. All staff helped each other out. It s the only restaurant Iv been to in this area that refused to sell something because it wasent up their standard of ingredients. Most places wouldn t even say a single thing and just sell it. And the food we did get was delicious. I highly recommend Thunder Bay Grill

Food was good prices and service not so good. Waited 10 mins or so our drinks. Server brought out my water and said sorry have to wait on tea still, to wait for tea to be brewed. Order fish tacos was not given plates or sliverwear/ Napkins. Server did not return for awhile so had to eat tacos and make a mess on table and needed Napkins. Order a alcoholic drink took 20 mins to get it. We where there at 3pm it was us and one other table. We got our food to go

We came here for the first time tonight and the service and food were both incredible. Our server (I believe his name was Todd) gave us great service. I ordered the bouillabaisse and my husband ordered the New York Strip, and both came out perfectly! Everything was delicious and came out much faster than expected. Both times, servers were friendly and pretty attentive. Food was excellent and brunch offers so many items you can't taste them all and will definitely eat too much.

Service was quick and friendly.

Food is fresh and well prepared, but unremarkable.
Overall a very nice dining experience.

My wife and I had gone out for date night. Wanted a nice sit down place but not over the top. We had ordered the seafood fondue. Which was amazing! She had ordered the Strip steak Alaskan style(medium well, but came out a little more on the well side) and a side of potato soup. She said it was delicious. I had ordered the tenderloin trio. Again delicious! Maggie our server was prompt and wonderful. And we were also greeted by the manager which felt just as warming as their big fireplace in the main dining room. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience.

We came here with a group for a set price. Prices were high for what we got. We had a buffet with our group. Regular beverages were supposed to be included only no one came to get orders. No dessert. Only one server. Should have been at least 2.

I want to both highly commend and highly recommend this restaurant. I was traveling from South Dakota to Ohio to visit family for the holidays when I stopped at the Motel 6 in Rockford on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014. This restaurant was just down the road from the Motel 6 and, tired of chain establishments, I thought I'd give it a try. The atmosphere inside was very warm and inviting and gaily decorated for the holidays but without the heavy touch that too many places have with their decorations. Even without the holiday decorations, however, I sensed it would still be very warm, inviting and attractive.

I was led to my seat, a cozy booth by a window. But then I waited. And waited. And waited and waited and waited. I watched while all the others in my area were served but no one came to my table. After driving solo all day I was tired, cold and hungry and was just about to give up and leave when a lady whom I assume is one of the managers came over and asked if I'd been served. I explained I'd been waiting for about a half hour since I'd been seated. She immediately apologized profusely and took my order. I settled down to enjoying the atmosphere and my newspapers and finally relaxing. She came back with some warm biscuits and what turned out to be cinnamon butter and said that my dinner was on them and she was having the kitchen make my order as quickly as possible. I hadn't asked for that but was impressed with how they were handling their mix-up and appreciated the good customer service.

The cinnamon butter seemed to be fresh and homemade and was scrumptious on the warm biscuits, especially given the miserably wet, cold weather outside. Now as for the meal. Obviously, I cannot speak for all of the entrees, only the one I had. I had the Southwestern Salad, which came with an avocado ranch dressing. It was truly excellent all around. It rested in a tomato-basil shell, which was just the right level of crispy. The blend and amounts of greens, chorizo, cheese, bacon, corn and black beans, hard-boiled egg and onions was just right (as well as being creatively arranged) and the avocado ranch was the perfect dressing for it. It also tasted fresh, without that commercially bottled taste that so many restaurant dressings have. It really hit the spot, especially after such a long day. I also noticed that the menu had a wide variety and range of options, which is usually a good sign in a restaurant. Although I did not have to pay for my dinner, the prices on most of the selections, including the more upscale steak and seafood entrees, appeared to be quite reasonable.

I don't mind when restaurants make mistakes (and they will because they're not run and staffed by robots, after all) as long as they recognize and rectify them instead of dismissing them and/or blaming the customer. This establishment not only recognized the mistake, but immediately apologized and made it right. That doesn't always happen nowadays, so they should be commended for it. And the food was certainly worth the wait. I noticed that, in addition to my own motel, there were several other hotels and motels right by the restaurant and I would highly recommend it if you are staying for the night in Rockford. Also, if you live in Rockford or the surrounding area and haven't tried it yet, I would suggest that you give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I travel to Ohio from South Dakota, and back, several times annually and I'm glad I discovered this place for when I stop in Rockford again.

We never decided to eat here because looking ar the sign it looked like a seafood/ fish place, which I don't care for. I had a friend invite my family there so we decided to give it a try. Everything we had was delicious, cheese curds, burgers, chicken tenders, homemade chips, soup, cheesecake! The staff was very accommodating and let us have a little closed off area to ourselves which was nice because we had a handful of kids. We will definitely be going back!

Quiet and cozy but spacious restaurant.
Good eats although portions I felt were a bit on the small side. And I'm not much of an eater when eating out.
Be nice to see this place stick around by seeing more business come through.
Location seems good, maybe advertise to get its name out there.

Fancy, great place for date night! Food and drink menus excellent and atmosphere varies between family to formal depending on where you sit. A little pricey but well worth it to set the mood for the rest of the night.

A good mix on the menu but not too many options that you're overwhelmed. I ended up getting the Cajun chicken. It came with a nice mixed green side salad, roasted potatoes and green beans. It was a pleasant surprise getting good Cajun spiced food in Rockford, IL, but that's what it was: very good! 5/5

We live approximately 11 hours away, but make a point when traveling to be sure to 'land' in Rockford near dinner in order to visit Thunder Bay. We've been doing so for about 6-7 years and have had consistently good food and service. The lodge style decor is both attractive and has been kept in good condition. We had a steak and salmon salad and both were perfectly cooked to specification and their bread service is worth the stop alone. The only downside (like many other restaurants) is the lack of Gluten Free bread and the need for a larger variety of menu items to select from.
