Age discrimination. If you're 31 and older then you must stay away from this restaurant, because they will charge you $325.00, and discount those entitlement brats only 175.00 because they think that millennials 30 and younger are more important than you, a lot of millenials are actually making more money and in less debt than some older adults 31+. there's a lot of restaurants in NYC who treat older adults 31+ fairly. Advice to Thomas Keller: You need 31 and older nights for 175.00 for 31+ patrons on a below annual salary of $50000.00 and have them show proof of income sometimes as often as under 30 nights to justify the under 30 nights. I find this place ageist
This is by far the best restaurant I have ever been too food-wise. The sad part is that it ruins the food experience at other top places.
Truly luxurious experience. Ordered 7 course, got 12~13, over the course of 4 hours. Won't come often due to high price, but it was worth it for a very special occasion.
Excellent service, fresh made and tasty food. Not fancy and not expensive for a wide variety of delicious foods.
Absolutely amazing food and it was a great experience. The staff were really sweet.
Keller's temple d'haute cuisine is the sanctuary of sanctuaries; the service is impeccable and gracious, if you can't afford or get a reservation for the main dining, go for the bar, where many of the main menu's dishes are served a la carte--a great way to sample his fantastic food without robbing a bank
I just love the name of this place. The rest is even better than the name. Recommended
Sister restaurant of French Laundry, a bit overpriced, not so special, can have much better food in the other Michelin restaurants
Secondly the food is mouthwatering and finally service just splendid
The service was exceptional. The food was fair at best. We expected to be wowed with Per Se. Unfortunately this is not the case. It is extremely overpriced, the up charges ridiculous! There are better restaurants for the money and experience than this !
For experienced and wealthy gourmets! I was lucky enough to be invited and it was a fantastic experience! Do not miss the citrus and olive bar. And the pearl oyster. Impressive wine list.
Addition at the height of the event, (double / Paris) but justified by the very numerous and friendly service and the quality of the plate. May be thinking of looking before American wines. We went to Burgundy (hundreds of ref) and it doubled the rating ...
We love the setting, the view of central park & upper east side and the well decorated room.
A whole new standard!
Each dish was exquisite and delicious. Definitely an experience worth repeating. The wine selection was superb as well.
Well I don t have words to describe this amazing place from the beginning to end just amazing, chef Thomas Keller was there at that time I had the opportunity to chat with him just amazing and really love his foods and restaurants I been on most of his restaurant
This place is awesome it is near central park and the oysters and pearls are best ever.
Fabulous. Nothing I can say that the other reviewers haven't already said. This dining experience is simply a must so don't ponder too much, just go!
"I went to this restaurant with my family. We enjoy this place and have come here several times with family and friends. The service was very good the wait sent long and we were updated until placed at a table. We were checked on at the table and our drinks were always refilled before asking. The meal was very good it tasted very good. A favorite dish of everyone was the Red Wine Braised Heirloom Onions it was made with
arrowleaf spinach, broccolini, cauliflower, meyer lemon and preserved horseradish. Another thing that stood out was the overall atmosphere and mood of the restaurant classic and calming. This place is a must see to eat and enjoy."
Google - it's Per Se - not Per SE. It's an amazing meal. If you haven't experienced Thomas' cooking, then go. I will say - and this is probably just a fluke - my last meal there was disappointing. The chicken was dry, and the selections were kinda boring. I say this because for a first-timer, it's incredible - but if you go back a few times, it can get old. Alinea in Chicago is far more inventive and extraordinary - and cheaper! (though not, by any definition, cheap).
Best dining experience ever! Totally worth the $$$. Service on point and so was food. I'm still thinking about the amazing burst of flavors. Get the tasting menu. Dessert was amazing, kept coming out! Even a to go dessert box. Makes me want to dine at only 3 Michelin stars!
Elegant and refined as we might have expected! Amazing food, attentive service and a very nice seating, overlooking the Central Parc.
A tasting menu I constantly reminisce about. Spectacular pairings and perfect service.
with an optional vegetarian tasting menu and customized menu cards with guest names printed on them, per se offers some of the best gastronomical creations the city has to offer. with understated elegance and overwhelming courses, the service is stellar and the desserts to die for. when money's no object, reach for a piece of yountville at columbus circle.
Great views. The food was good but felt a bit dated. Our server was a bit awkward and not that professional which I was a bit suprised by.
What a great night I had
Service was amazing
The food incredible !see you next week
Probably the best Foie Gras I have ever had so far. The service was impeccable. Although not sure if the value was fully there.
I did enjoy the whole 9 course with great atmosphere and friendly stuff with superb wine guy, but unfortunately I came out hungry. This is first time I left the 4 hours meal - hungry. I did enjoy every single part of everything and the wine pairing was phenomenal with ultra professionalism of the working staff, but I got out hungry. Had to eat after.
The bill was about $1800 for three.
The absolute standard in fine dining and french cuisine. It is an intimate experience and well worth the price. You must try the oysters and pearls. I will visit every time I m in town.
Terrific food and surprisingly unsnobby service for a place that prides itself in being super elite. Getting a reservation was difficult to say the least. Schedule it way out in advance. I took off one start for the wine list. Overall great experience.
The epitome of a special occasion place. From the moment you walk in you feel special. The food is good, not mind blowing. Supplements for the foie gras and Wagyu are kinda annoying but that s Ny for you....
Hands down the best Dining experience I've ever had. Next level service and food!
Horrible customer service. If you trying to change your reservation, do not bother to contact them. Because nobody will reply you no matter using phone number or email address.
It was an unforgettable experience. The chef's tasting menu was creative, visually stunning and above all delicious. The staff was impeccable. We were treated to a visit to the kitchen and the cellar which elevated the experience even more.
Incomparable food. Perfect service. It's expensive, but boy, do you ever get your money's worth. I can't think of a better splurge restaurant anywhere.
The food was outstanding as was the service. Wish I had done the 9 courses here.
One of the best restaurants in the World. Chef Keller has really mastered the fine art of cookign, and provides an incredible experience. Service is very attentive and unobstrusive, an tables are set well apart from each other, it gives you a feeling of intimacy
Great food with whole lot of vegetarian options with good views of central park
The Three Great Restaurants of New York For 2018
There are a ton of interesting restaurants in New York but as visitors from Canada, we only have a limited amount of time to explore restaurants. So to try what we might consider some of the better restaurants we sift through a lot of lists and the Michelin ratings. We have visited New York well over a dozen times and we come for food, theater, museums and shopping. Our earliest adventures in high end dining in NY was Lutece and Le Cygne so we go back quite a few years.
The three top restaurants for 2018 in our opinion are:
1. Chef's Table Brooklyn Fare
2. Per Se
3. Eleven Madison
The top three are pretty close but at this moment in time, Chef's Table is at the top of everything I want in great food. Le Bernardin came in a somewhat distant fourth. The restaurant remains and is deserving of a Michelin three star rating.
We visited NYC twice this year (2018). In August (2018) we went to NYC to test out three restaurants - Chef's Table, Eleven Madison and Le Bernardin. In March (2018) we went to Chef's Table and Per Se. We have visited all the restaurants multiple times over the years. All four restaurants are worthy of three stars from Michelin. However, there are differences between the four.
Each of the restaurants have pretty good rooms. I do have a preference for the Per Se room and kitchen setup. They actually have an impressive and huge prep kitchen which then leads to the main kitchen.
Over the years, we have had outstanding meals at each of the four restaurants. Many years ago, both Eleven Madison and Per Se expanded our smaller lunch menu to a full dinner menu for free! This was a purely incredible gesture. My New York friends were both impressed and insanely envious at the generosity of both restaurants. Both restaurants have provided several visits to the kitchen. We are not food critics. We do not order much wine as I don't drink. So it always amazes me that the staff provide service out of the ordinary.
Speaking of drinks, at Per Se, they once noticed that I was not drinking my non-alcoholic drink. Not wanting to hurt the feelings of whoever made the drink, I stated that I was not very thirsty. But our server sensed something wrong and later came out with not a glass but a carafe of a different non-alcoholic drink!
During our last visit to Chef's Table, Cesar Ramirez spoke to us near the beginning of our meal. Then to our surprise, he continued to come over. At one point he asked about a certain dish. Rather than talk about the protein, I raved about the rice. The rice was perfection. Japanese rice perfectly al dente and each piece totally separate. It was astonishing. He smiled at my enthusiasm. "That was very expensive rice. It is the Emperor's rice." In total we were fortunate enough to talk to him for about 30 minutes. Although he has many interests, his world is very much food. We plan to visit Chef's Table as many times as possible over the next five years as we feel that he is very much at the top of his game.
At the end of our August meal at Chef's Table, a server came up to say that the Chef had comped the rest of our bill (drinks). Very kind of Cesar Ramirez.
For 2018, Eleven Madison was rated as the number one restaurant in the world by San Pellegrino. So for the August trip, we lined up Eleven Madison and Chef's Table on consecutive days. I have to say that on a pure side by side basis, Chef's Table was a clear winner.
We plan to come out to NY for 2019 (in early June) and will book Chef's Table twice in one week. That week will be Chef's Table versus Chef's Table : )
Thanks for reading.

Everything about my meal was perfect. The vegetarian menu only needed small tweaks to be vegan. For perhaps the first time, my omnivorous partner had more modifications to his meal than I did! There were a myriad of textures, flavors, and presentations, all well balanced and interesting. The service was impeccable. If you have date constraints and there is no availability for dinner, check lunch. It is the same menu and, honestly, the timing worked much better for us because we were there for four hours. We had a leisurely, extravagant meal and still had time to meet up with friends in the evening.
If you have the means it s a must. A lot of food but TK and staff does it right. Then it s off to French Laundry ;)
You get what you pay for. At Per Se you will have a perfect experience even if you get there one hour before your reservation. The food like nothing found anywhere else, the enviroment is so good it's hard to describe, then the service is exeptional. :)
I made a second visit to Per Se this trip. This is a place for a very occasional indulgence unless you are wealthy. Phenomenal food and service. This visit was accentuated by Artis, a fellow Texan who exuded personality and competence. He will go far in the restaurant business with his personal service attitude and love for his employer s restaurant. There was not a miss in the entire meal. Highly recommend if you are a foodie.
One of the best greatest nights of my life. Fabulous meal, sumptuous food, and drink, expensive but worth every penny. My husband also had a great time, really fun to have a very long dinner and enjoy and savor every plate brought before you. Incredible.
I love it. Everything that's there is excellent. I love their chocolate croissants and everything, everything, everything, everything that they have! go there
An ethereal experience. Food is astonishingly good. Service is perfect. The table is yours for the evening, and every moment is a treasure. Every bite of the tasting leaves you wanting more.Best in New York, by far. People try to find faults. There are none. Wish I were able to get in more often.
Michelin three star restaurant. Simply spectacular! The quality is expected for this type of restaurants and I assure you that you will not be hungry !!
Before our courses started we were presented with an amuse bouche of a fresh oyster to kick things off. We were also presented with several options of fresh breads to sample.
A few of our favorites from the menu were the prawns, the cauliflower, the duck confit, agnolotti pasta, the bison short rib, and the amazing marscapone cheesecake.
Really no regrets here, it was an amazing meal. This is a great choice for special occasions. Two surprises, the music selection was great featuring a lot of modern and classic hits which is a little unusual for this kind of place but a nice surprise. The other was the candles in the bathrooms. The best candle fragrance either of us has ever come across.
The warm welcome and impeccable service
Wonderful setting
Eating in this restaurant at least one in life is really an exception,
Thanks to the chef and the team
I celebrated my parents' anniversary here. The service was absolutely amazing and the food was divine to say the least. The restaurant had printed menus with our names on it, first time I've ever seen a restaurant do that. We had a blast here, would definitely recommend going here to experience what real fine dining feels like.
Outstanding food, great service. Truly a great institution in NY
I have no words to describe how luxe and off the charts this dining experience was! It was edible haute cuisine art, w rare champagne too, from Salon & Delamotte.
So good! Worth the long lines. Try the Howlin. Even if you burn your face off, you'll love the flavor!! The Sando was excellent. Best I've ever had by far. The environment is so much fun!! Definitely try to grab a seat inside if you can. The crew is so lively and fun and having chef Johnny right in the thick of it all makes it even more magical!
Had a special meal at Per Se last night. Awesome food and even better service. The team led by Christopher, our waiter, provided a unique dining experience. There's been some talk lately about Per Se losing its NYT star, however they are currently on the top of their game. A perfect restaurant for a special occasion.
Had an awesome wine pairing as well.
Absolutely amazing! I loved the atmosphere. The food was the best I've had in a while. I highly recommend this place.
the menus had our names on them. great for a special occasion.
Per Se has amazing service with some of the most exceptional staff I've ever seen. They are not only courteous and professional but also very personable. They shared stories and asked questions as well or have short succinct conversations that built through the night. Staff moves out of your way and reacts to you like a diver swimming through a school of fish. Everyone is on their toes in a ballet of precision and knowledge. The main server was awesome but so was the sommelier and other knowledgeable food servers. The food itself is very very good. There was not thing I wouldn't recommend as long as you are open to interesting new flavors. Each dish is served as if it were a unique experience on its own with custom cutlery and dishes and flavors. The 9 dish prefix menu is the way to go as it gives you the best value and overall experience. I was absolutely stuffed with this selection. There are also plentiful alcohol selections at every price range as well. Having a birthday guest also made this an exceptional experience with a custom printed menu signed by the chef and a birthday cake with gold leaf and candle. Extra treats and the menu were given to us at the end of the dinner. Gratuity is included but on the bill you are given the chance to give extra to the servers. It's unclear if they expect this but given how good they were I added and additional 15% in gratuities. Adding the dinner and all the optional add one and an expensive bottle of wine my two dinners came to $1700 but the 9 prefix menu on its own is about $395 per person. The restaurant is at the top 7th floor all the way to the left inside the Columbus circle mall. There is a green garden waiting area until the doors open at 530. Jackets are required. No casual clothes allowed.
What an amazing experience! Amazing service, food and first class hospitality! I did not find a single flaw in any of the dishes that were served to us. The service was impeccable. I will definitely be back
The salmon was very fresh and juicy. The chicken with aubergine was very good. Aubergine was sweet and done just right while the chicken was juicy. The rice that came with these dishes was fluffy, nicely flavored and addictive!! Terrible for weight watchers like me.
They prepared awesome dishes. Their services were so cool. Preparing the food required couple of minutes.
Wow! No words can do it justice. Exquisitely amazing, service was impeccable, views overlooking Columbus Circle and Central Park. How can you say no?
We hosted a group of 15 clients and they loved it. Relaxed environment with amazing food and no interruptions. Highly recommended for doing something extra.
Would absolutely recommend trying out this place. Excellent ambience, tasty food, fantastic service. Keep up the good work.
Excellent food and service, best way to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Thank you
This was a very anticipated experience. Service a d atmosphere were exceptional. Food very good but expected more of a wow experience, with more intense sauces. Many dishes. Barely cooked and while delicious were missing pizzazz. I wonderful experience but I don't think we will repeat it.
When you are in NY and your taste buds crave for french cuisine, this is the address to head towards. My cousins say this place is the standard by which they judge all other french outlets in the city.
Our choose was spontaneous coming this place . And I was surprised that cozy interior, delicious food and tasty beer! And very good price
Service is great
Thank you so much
Soon I'll come back
Just make two pics because was so hungry
Without a doubt, the best dining experience of my life. My family still talks about it to this day. We can't wait to go back. Truly a heavenly, culinary encounter!
This is a magnificent dining experience. It is also a ridiculously expensive and pretentious one. Bring a friend who just inherited a bundle because 2 or 3 nights out somewhere else might just make for a better choice...good as it is.
Food, decor and service were excellent but the way they upsell on the menu cheapens the experience. $350 per person dinner can quickly become $700 with a few supplemental dishes which are not only overpriced but are replacements for the already expensive course that you are paying for. Again, great service and no complaints on the amazing food. Coffee ice cream and donuts are almost worth the entire expense.
3 Michelin Stars comes at a price. Great visual presentation. Excellent food. I love the Oyster & Pearls dish.
I was here for my birthday in 2018. To say it was flawless would be an understatement. Each course was perfect, the table was the best in the house. We stayed for hours and were left with memories to keep forever
Great food. Presentation is impeccable. Perfect wine pairing.
