Great staff, nice breakfast, rooms very dated but comfortable.
Fine, not great. I stay here for work sometimes. Bedroom and bathroom are small but adequate. Front desk staff are nice and eager to help. I like using the fitness club in the basement.
Buffet items in the dinner, I personally think, are few in numbers. Waiters and waitress are well mannered.
Very busy on arrival, took an age to sign in, room was v hard to find due to weird numbering, room was good
The room is small, but comfy, the walls are quite thin so you can hear the TV of your neighbours. Food is good, but be warned they add 12.5% automatically and have the cheek to add a gratuity option.
Stayed for 3 days while on a conference. Central for what I wanted. Rooms were a little tired but clean. Breakfast was lovely. Good selection. Pool was nice.
Shameful experience, with the hotel not upholding their reservation. After being told at the reception at checkin that my week old, already paid for reservation was cancelled and "this has happened to several guests today" they refused to talk to my travel agency for 2 hours. Simply refused to take the phone or to answer their reception numbers.
2 hours later after checking into a different hotel "Jessica from the reception" said my reservation is actually confirmed and they would not refund if I forfeit. Along the way back to the Thistle the situation changed again and I was notified my reservation was actually DENIED.
Now I had to prove that I actually booked and paid for another hotel so that the Thistle would refund THE RESERVATION THEY REJECTED.
Absolutely abhorrent and shameful experience with what is supposed to be a Central London hotel.
Almost a 1 star, barely a 2 star mostly thanks to good breakfast options. All the rest is pretty drab.
Lovely hotel.
Very clean. Relaxing pool area. With sauns and steam room. Members of staff very chatty and welcoming. Had a meal in the hotel and the food was lovely....couldn't say a bad word about this place. Our waiter (Athique) couldnt do enough for us and made our dinner experience there great! He definitely deserves recognition for his services there
Conveniently located near old street and barbican metro station approx 10minutes walk
My first ever time in London and what a hotel to stay in all staff very friendly and I will b returning next year.
Great location - no air conditioning in the room good bar and atmosphere.
Room was poorly decorated. Hard to find the room. Booked double room, got twin room. Lovely selection at breakfast and service from the staff that were working.
Well located, lovely bedroom with a very comfortable bed. Shower could have had more pressure, but was very hot.
I booked a standard double room
Very old
Spider was in the room
Toilet not clean with rust and dust
Not air conditioned as it was advertised
Needs refurbishing
Reception is not answering
Are short of tooth brushes and tooth paste. 1 for 2.
Not suppling a welcoming bottle of water in the room.
Only good thing is it close to the centre.
Withing reach to bus stops only 5 mins walking
Bed was comfortable.
Great hotel - perfect location for our one night stay near Shoreditch and reasonably priced (for a London hotel).
Nice twin room with comfy beds and tea and coffee making facilities. Complimentary shortbreads were a nice touch too!
The hotel also has a pool and gym - upon arrival, we spent an hour in the pool which was a great way to cool down on what had been a very hot day.
I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.
No water was provided on arrival or during lunch, only tea and coffee. I don't drink either. When asked the waiter said "I only have sparkling now" when asked, the waitress said "there's some in the meeting room" all bottles were empty. I got some eventually but it should have been easier. Customer service typical these days. Cannot go out of way. Rear was ok.
Nice hotel in an easy to get to location from old Street tube (around a ten minute walk) was easy to find and had a big sign outside so you couldn't miss it / walk past it. Reception area was well staffed and attentive. Received a complimentary upgrade upon checking in to rooms to include rooms with air conditioning which was appreciated given it was a warm weekend in London. The facilities were nice: swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and swimming pool and whilst the services were used it never felt over busy so you could use the facilities fairly easily. There was also a gym which looked like it had a fair amount of equipment and again didn't seem too busy. Cost was around what you would expect to pay peak season in London for a room. Breakfast was additional but didnt pay for this service. Lifts were very quick and clean. Hotel looked reasonably well kept/ maintained.
Very pleasant staff. Very spacious room. Excellent breakfast.
OK, good overnight stop. Unfortunately lifts weren't working all weekend, staff were great & helpful carrying guests' luggage, reallocating rooms. Main reason only 3 stars is the condition of building, very tired decor & rooms need complete overhaul.
Lovely venue for meetings etc. Beautiful Al fresco dining area. The event room was quite big though and need to be heated thoroughly.
Rooms a little tired but excellent service. Had to move from first room due to very unpleasant smell.
It was ok, no air conditioning, room was warm and cold but it was a place out of the rain. I just didn't have time to get in the pool.
Whilst restaurant areas were fine, rooms were dated.
Rooms are very nice. Great place and the staff are very service-minded. The hotel also has a gym and bath which is very nice in the morning and evening. The breakfast is very good and there is everything you could wish for. Get what you pay for.
Nice hotel with friendly staff.
The breakfast buffet was loaded with a large selection of cold and hot dishes.
Unfortunately, had not seen scars that were pool and fitness option, then did not have clothes for it, but it looked delicious. The pool was supervised by a physical person.
Not bad, but old furniture and fixed shower so it's a bit inconvenient to use it. Breakfast is really really good. Room was clean; staff are polite.
Advice: book your room through their website and you'll get breakfast included, which is great!
DO NOT USE A WOWCHER CODE to book the spa facilities. Appaling customer service. Appaling booking system. Appaling treatment.
Clean and comfortable hotel with helpful and friendly service. I enjoyed my stay and would happily return in the future.
Very helpful staff. Lovely pool facilities. Could store our luggage while we waited and room was ready early. Our room was in need of a little TLC but very clean.
Clean, professional, great breakfast, location close to northern line so easy access to the tube.
They are quite friendly and super attentive! My wife needed an extension cord and they had it in the room before she'd returned from the front desk. Quite nice. If I had to find anything to complain about I'd say the orange juice is a bit watered down, which is hardly anything.
The price is good for the hotel in Zone 1. However, the facilities are aging and I didn't expect a refrigerator, but there is no air conditioner. The corridor of the hotel room was a little like a maze, so it took some time to get used to finding my room at once. The reception staff are friendly. Nebum, who was struck by a star in the dark ground, was just stuck in the air.
The place have gym sawna and swimming with reasonable price
it was a very nice hotel, however there was no airconditioning or locks on the bathroom doors
Good hotel. The rooms are of a mixed standard - some can be good and some can be a bit tatty. No air conditioning in the standard rooms which is disappointing. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Best thing about the hotel? Breakfasts are exceptional.
Excellent place for meeting for city workers. Got the fantastic additional facilities such as sauna steamroom Jacuzzi swimming pool .
Staff's are very friendly as well as helpful. Hotel is clean . Breakfast was great
Breakfast wad good, but the hotel is a bit shabby. No air condition.
We stayed here for our 30th wedding Anniversary and it was lovely the package was with a show thrown in , friendly and helpful staff and a lovely thoughtful surprise when we got back to the hotel after the show was gratefully appreciated, chocolates, card and bubbly x .
Old, dated, hot room, poor location. Still trapped in 60's.
They put me in a room without air conditioning, the carpet seemed dirty ... And very little pressure in the shower, rest well.
Stayed there mid may 2019. Sorry for the staff and the duty manager who have been very friendly but BEDBUGS!!!
I slept with my left arm near the wall and here is the result.
Paying 200 pounds to get bitten and a skin reaction. Never again.
Very good hotel, I've been there for two days and everything is impeccable, welcome, rooms, services nothing to complain about. The only problem: speak English well because the staff do not master our language at all but we manage very well thanks to lure kindness.
Brilliant hotel. Clean and tidy, staff always willing to go the extra mile to help.
Excellent breakfasts with choice of meats, cheeses, cereals, fruit - both real and dried. The star attraction at breakfast for me though was the bacon, sausage, beans, potato rosties and fried egg.
Nicely situated for bus routes to many of the capital's wonderful attractions.
Well worth a stay in my opinion.
Great place, the food in the restaurant is very good. The service is excellent and the rooms are big and contain everything you need.
Though the single room is smaller than student accommodation at university it is clean
Reasonable hotel just north of Liverpool Street station. Rooms tired, but clean. Staff friendly.
Great breakfast, swimming pool and hot tub. No in room drinks/kettle and mould in the bathtub. Good overall
Beds are comfy. Hotel and rooms are massively dated. WiFi is pretty good and breakfast is decent.
Very small rooms, front desk doesn t respond on time, misleading website description, poor choice
Comfortable room. I didn't use any facilities as I only stayed one night, but the staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again.
Comfortable hotel but alas no shower at the top! Disappointing for a 3 star
Member of staff walks into my wife's room after midnight. Minimal apology from management follow day and no follow up. Awful.
Rooms and services were good, only down side is that the walls are very thin, could hear everyone's alarms going off in the morning and constant slamming of doors in the hall way.
Went swimming, the pool is too small for doing lengths but the changing rooms are clean and newly refurbished.
Hotel very nice very clean. Only downside bathroom a little past.
Comfortable and the best breakfast I've ever had in a hotel. The staff were so friendly and I will definitely stay there again.
Decent bar and restaurant. Rooms are nice enough. TV didn't work properly.
Service terrible and the food was just as bad. Overpriced. Go McDonald's instead
Just spent one night at the Thistle as we went to Sadlers Wells. Lovely hotel, good sized rooms and extremely friendly staff. Great breakfast, good value for money and we will stay again.
I put 4 compared to the poorly insulated rooms, moreover we were on the passage of the corridor so we heard those passing by, but it deserves 5, very nice spa and swimming pool, very welcoming welcoming staff, on the badges it is marked languages spoken in case we do not speak English, two bars and a restaurant, including a bar which broadcasts matches for sports lovers, it is a very good hotel 8 minutes walk from the old street metro station
Knowing the difficulty in finding quality hotels in London at fair prices, this hotel was satisfactory for the stay.
10-12 minutes from a metro station.
Carpeted bedroom, separate beds that we put together, OK bathroom, a wardrobe for storing things.
On the other hand, it was very hot, even with the window open, impossible to cool (besides, a big fan was available )
Made a reservation and paid in advance through a booking portal. Upon checking in, we were told that the room wasn't paid. When we showed receipt of payment we were told that it wasn't their problem and that we were to contact the reservation website ourselves. Of course we straightened things out, but the staff was most unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel itself is just ok, definitely not worth the price. Bathroom is very run down and the shower is so low you have to crouch (and no anti slip mats readily available). Location only good thing.
I used the gym facilities only so can't comment on the rooms or other facilities. There are quite a few machines for a small space and the gum was quiet so there was no waiting for a machine. The swimming pool is small but that's ok as it's not pavked. The steam room is a nice touch although it could do with updating.
Good clean room, good breakfast, a little bit out in the sticks
Very expensive and inconvenient (small rooms, bad food options). Its only merit is its location.
I do not recommend this hotel, outdated bathroom, very poorly soundproof, the flush works very poorly, not to mention the bedding more than mediocre.enfin if you want to spend a bad stay go there!
The room I stayed at in was not not the most inviting, the room had a massive heater on the wall and it blasted out heat (doing its job I know) so much so we had to sleep with the windows open in the middle of winter.
Apart from that everything else was good. The food in the restaurant was tasty. The bar was perfect for catching the football and the staff were really nice albeit, they were all foreign.
Went here for a wedding. Nice venue inside. Good decor. The building looks a bit tired from the outside but it was winter so probably looks better in the spring /summer.
Good amount of parking available although car park tarmac a bit worse for wear. A problem when it's raining. You require a ticket to enter the car park which is swapped for a ticket to let you out so you don't have to pay.
Customer service was good with the brief encounter at the reception desk. But I can't say more than that.
Yes, I would consider it as a good location for a wedding
