As I am in a wheelchair, we were encouraged to book ahead but this was not possible as the phone lines were busy. We arrived on the day but were told to return in an hour as there was already a wheelchair user on the tour.

Once the tour began, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is quite comical and entertaining, and the darkness and anticipation of the unknown increases the scare-factor.

All in all, a great way to spend the afternoon. I thoroughly recommend it.

I think it was very scary, even for someone who is into the gory kind of things. I was asked to hold and sit in a soaking wet chair made up of what looked like red food colouring which wasn't pleasant. Overall it was a good mix of story but it doesn't flow very well and most of the time you aren't directed where to go, so you have to find your own way which our group found very misleading and then frustrating.

Great entertainment, great day out, not suitable for disabled people. My mum couldn't park her mobility scooter and had to sit in the cold waiting for us, which i thought she was in the cafe, but the cafe across is the pits, unfriendly needs updating, chair uncomfortable, people coming in and walking out. So, york dungeon should have a word! Not all grandparents want to go in your attraction with the kids and sit outside in the cold.

A great outing. I recommend booking online for the best price tickets and shorter queues.
My year old loved it but she understood it was all pretend and trying to be scary, some older children were scared when we visited so judge it on your own child. If they are nervous and scare easily it might not be for them.

Really liked it, been to all of the other dungeon attractions in the UK so dispite this one being the closest to home it's the last one I visit. Happy to say it's a good solid experience and didn't let its self down. Good mix of experiences from the slightly scary to the funny. Thankfully I didn't get picked for any audience participation but its all done in good humour. The actors were really good, all in all well worth a visit.

Absolutely brilliant attraction, we bought discounted tickets from The Potions Cauldron in the Shambles and it was fantastic value for money! Loved every second, perfect for grown ups and children alike! Would definitely recommend visiting if you're in York.

What great acting.

What great acting.
My 3 children and myself visited today 31 May 2016. With trepidation we entered the building. What a sight pitch darkness. We were sat waiting about 10 minutes for our tour to start. As the tension built in the darkness my boy wanted to leave.
As the tour got underway what fun we enjoyed as I was locked in the cell my children thought it was hilarious.
The acting was brilliant and really bought history to life.
Thanks to all the actors for a great visit although the admission price is steep for a family we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Great fun, professional staff playing characters you meet as you are guided round in small groups. Great effects and even interaction if you are chosen. Opportunity for photo memorabilia at the end.

Overpriced for the experience. Mildly scary and I scare easily. The tour was far more about giving historical facts rather than entertaining. However, the staff five out a good go, but pretty disappointing overall.

We loved the dungeon, the staff are really great at bringing you into the spirit of the tour, very informative as well as a few scares during the visit. My 9 year old was very jumpy at parts :)

Great show. Actors were entertaining and it was great watching people get pulled from the audience and getting involved (myself included). The whole experience was about 90 minutes long and worth the money spent
