Great attraction, the actors were engaging and really fun, whole experience was amazing, only niggle was adults not caring if the blocked younger guests views.

Not for those who can't laugh at themselves, for everyone else it's a toe curling fringe worthy good time.

Visited the dungeon last week with my 9 year old daughter. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was brilliant.
Each area of the dungeon has a different theme or character that really engages the public. Members of the audience are picked to be characters from Viking times or a prisoner in court, even find themselves on the chopping block under a guilatin in exaction part of the tour.
Our most favourite by far was the witch. You enter a dark room with an accused witch in a cage in front of you. What happens next you have to experience yourself as I don't want to spoil it. The young lady who played the part of the witch was outstanding. Her half blonde and half black hair added to the sad/evil very creepy character. She had everyone holding their breath throughout(worth the entrance alone).

I enjoyed the York dungeon thourghly. If you have visited Edinburgh dungeon it is very similar but not as good, there is no 'ride' element in York for example.

Wasn't sure what to expect but was Funny. Scary in places especially for young children and very informative . Great 2 hours spent lots of giggles. Walking around fairly easy too .

Have visited four of the other Dungeons in Europe but this was the best one. Great job by the performers.

Not a dungeon par say. Acters take you through a series of historic events. Very informative and fun. Unexpected things happen even for sceptical people like myself. 70minutes of good entertainment worth every penny. Very caring but non judgemental staff for my friend who was in a wheel chair.

If you want historical experiences come to life! Not for those who suffer chlostrophobia

Gives you a fright in the right places good for a group laugh. Not suitable for wee children

Visited a few years ago and it was ok , visited 3/10/18 and will be last visit . Found it very boring , highlight was getting wet because it was hot in there . Effects poor , guy fawkes head on a stick terrible , out off the ark . Needs a full revamp to reflect admission price

Great fun and a little bit educational too,we had a great hour there.The actors were really professional

This place is great for a little trip out. I loved how engaging the actors were, although I have to say there could maybe be more communication between actors over who they pick during their bits.

My partner and I were picked for about 90% of the scenarios. Of course we're not complaining and I loved every second, as we felt extremely involved in the experience, but I'd understand if others who were in our group felt a bit annoyed at not being picked for anything and maybe felt ignored.

Actors were definitely giving it everything they had and we had a great time!

Really good actors that make this tour the place it is ! Not to badly priced with the discount of tickets that you get on line . Absolutely enjoyed by us all worth a go

great fun ..... interactive with actors rather than some read and walk tour.....get some useful facts and history too...

Incredibly expensive. As a history student I was able to pick up on a number of historical inaccuracies, many of which were hundreds of years out. Not worth the visit

Had a great time and didn't really know what to expect. Died of the plague and had my head bashed in too.

Had a really good time here. Totally immersive atmosphere. The value for money when booking online is good. Lasts a good hour and half and the staff and actors are amazing. Thoroughly recommend to any who are visiting York.

Excellent place, lovely staff and a few good scares

This was fantastic. We were there just over an hour and the kids (10 & 11) were sufficiently freaked out. They loved it.

A great place to spend a couple of hours. Very atmospheric, great storytelling.

We were on holiday in York for a week and decided to ho to the dungeons for a laugh on my birthday. The actors are brilliant!!! the lady on the till was so so helpful. It definately was a laugh. Worth every penny.

Was ok think it was a bit restricted because of covid 19,but they've tried to make it as scary as possible

Good acting. Many very different scenarios. Interesting. It helped that we had some "screamers" in with our group.

Fantastic museum, actors really nailed it had me laughing the whole way round I would definitely however recommend visitors be of 16 or over

Worth a visit, the actors are very good and entertaining to both adults and children. The actress in the torture area on the day we visited was especially good. We bought tickets the night before to save some money.

Very funny.. I find it a little embarrassing to be honest re en actment of 1500s Dick Turpin and Guy Forks torture punnisment and plaug black Death...
It is told by actors in period dress.. capturing your attention as your in on the acts.. there is no hiding.
You can't help but laugh.. interesting..

Visited a few times over the years, but it's not as good as it used to be.

The dungeons are historically informative while also being funny and exciting. The actors are excellent.

Never a disappointment. Interactive and fun although for the price it's all done and dusted all to quickly.

This is the second time that I have visited York Dungeons and is the 18th trip to the Dungeon franchise. Although not as long as some of the others (it was exactly one hour), it was lots of fun and the actors were superb. It is not as informative as some of the others, there is not, for example, details of breaking on the wheel even though there is a model of this form of torture. There are no jump scares and so it is suitable for those that hate those. The flood waters were well up the side road but the Dungeon experience was not affected.

Great place to drop into when you're in York. Would recommend giving this about 90 mins, and not advisable for young kids !
