Great atmosphere. But we ordered a half bottle of champagne for brunch which never arrived. Then the waiter came back to ask us to remind him what we'd ordered. Then I was initially brought the wrong plate of breakfast. When the right food and drinks did arrive they were good. Probably expect a smoother experience from a venue of this standing...

Don't come here for a special occasion. Staff sat us at our table 20 mins late (making me stand in the bar 9 months pregnant waiting with no water and no where to sit) and then kicked us off our table with 10 mins notice as soon as we had the main course. It was my brothers 21st birthday lunch and we were told we could not have dessert (ie his cake) The service was slow. The floor manager was inept and poorly trained and she handled the situation terribly. Its a tourist trap now anyway, such a shame.

The desserts are delicious but the service attitude is very poor, people will not want to step into the second time! Order two copies of the three-tier afternoon tea but only come and tell me that I was questioned at the time of the continuation of whether there are really two copies, which makes people feel disrespected.

I made a reservation at the open table. Many people said it was uncomfortable ... The waiters were kind on the day I went. It's so crowded that the response may be late, but it seems like it's a kebak. Egg Benedict was so delicious-English muffins were crispy, moist and delicious !!!! It's bigger than I thought, so you can have one (small size) and share it with other menus.

Must say, the place has gone down hill, waited 15 mins for service, before calling a member of staff over to ask for a drink, I mentioned the wait time, they moved us to another table, forgot the mash with the mains too! They used to be so slick there, last two times has been a disappointment.

Overpriced and quite mediocre food, somewhat a lousy service (one menu for twi people, the full menu was given only after you ask for it etc)do not live up to the expectations and the high price tag. I would not recommend to anybody who wants to have a good and tasty meal - there are much better options available. The atmosphere is definitely not an intimate one or even an upscale one - unfortunately for me it looked more like a restaurant in Grand Central Terminal in NYC - crowded, rushed and again rather mediocre.

I had an amazing tea time at The Wolseley. Even if I was alone, the staff treated me so well, with such kindness, it really made the whole experience unforgettable. I had the afternoon cream tea (tea + scones). The tea was delicate, the scones were super fresh and I even received some free little cakes to taste. I would really like to emphasize how nice the staff was! The place was a bit loud but it's really charming.

Great for a special occasion. Very high quality food and service. Lots of options on the menu and also a vegetarian menu too. Advised to make a reservation, difficult to get a table via walk in.

Been there two times and though the scenary is nice the service is very poor, even a disaster for an establishment which pretend to be at the top level...

Both time we ordered drinks and some afternoon quick bites (cakes, salads, etc.). Both time we received our drinks after about 10mn and our food about 30 mn later... (for a piece of cake and a salad!). Not nice when you want to eat your coffe with your ordered biscuits...

Portions are small, waiters not really nice and prices extremely expensive for the quality and portions served. On top of that they have very strict hours for breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea. If you want to have something from the breakfast menu or dinner menu later on, forget it! It is also not possible to have afternoon tea before 3pm! For a cup of tea and scrowns! I understand for hot meals but most of their menus are cold ones and they have a rather short menu...

There are many other places where you can enjoy a more relaxing athmosphere with nice people, better food and much more flexible hours (afternoon tea are served all day at some places!). So, have a look, maybe one coffee, and then go somewhere else!

We have enjoyed the Wolseley experience for many years. And although the food was up to the usual excellent standard i found the service to be mediocre at best .hopefully today was just a one off
Unfortunately it wasn't
Had dinner last night again food was good as ever service was shocking come Wolseley get your staff back on track
Yes it was busy but most of diners would have been bookings not walkins so no excuse for poor service

Great place for an afternoon tea, at a reasonable price, relatively speaking. All you can drink tea, enough scones and sandwiches to fill you for the evening, great pastries and delicious clotted cream.

Booked for breakfast on a trip to London, and as always it didn't disappoint.
The architecture is amazing, and probably hasn't changed a great deal since it was a car showroom!
The food and service is first class.
It's not too formal at breakfast, so ideal if you want it to be your first stop on your trip to the city.

My husband and I were visiting from South Australia with our 14 yr old grandson. We had an amazing afternoon tea with our daughters who married Brits and our 2 young UK grandchildren. We were treated like royalty - thank you so much! We wrote in one of your post cards to another daughter in Australia and gave it to the concierge to post never dreaming he would post it to Australia but he did! It arrived today. Thank you for such a special memory. We will return !!

I presume Sundays are laundry day at the Wolseley? Maybe a day to avoid?

So I have visited many grand establishments but I have never sat and tried to enjoy a 5 star venue next to a laundromat. The enjoyment impaired by a shaking table due to the centrifuge going on a spin constantly. Quite heavy these tables, but we managed to move it half an inch so as to avoid the table shaking. To anyone who still want to venture, avoid the balcony tables, because next door is the laundry and you might not like the smell of Persil with your eggs benedict.

As for the food. Well, a 5 star establishment should know how to make a pepper-sauce. But apparently not, because it was all watery. Passing that comment to the waiter and you get the shoulder treatment - "hey I just wait here I have no idea". Brilliant.

As for the rest of the service, well none of waiters have presumably gone to any formal training since they don't know how to serve properly. Serve from the left or right, assiettes for bread - why bother about details!

In short I shan't be coming back. The Wolseley is not worth the bother, hype or price tag.

Not great service. Staff are rushed off their feet but still everyone is waiting around a long time to get their attention for anything and for this reason they're not very attentive either. Seems to be too busy and too many customers with not enough staff.

This is a must when visiting London. The afternoon tea is unbeatable, but the breakfast/brunch is just as delightful! I recommend the eggs Benedict. The English muffin is more of a light, flakey biscuit rather than a traditional English muffin which adds to the dish. The smoked salmon used incredible and the sauce completed it. I would also strongly recommend the banana bread. The vanilla bean butter they put on top takes banana bread to a whole new level. Make reservations ahead of time to avoid incredibly long wait times.

Fancy restaurant next to the Ritz with excellent Eggs Benedict (the sauce was to die for!) and scrumptious Caneles Bordelais (perfectly crunchy outside and custardy inside). Service was outstanding! We had really wanted to eat here on our layover in London and arrived without reservations and dressed in our casual travel clothes and with our backpacks, feeling so out of place amongst the well dressed patrons, but the host welcomed us warmly and we were seated after a little wait. The staff was attentive from beginning to end. Would love to go back again next time we find ourselves in London!

A perfect "British" breakfast in an art deco setting with a very careful service and a beautiful menu. One of the few places still in London where you can find people dressed in tight suits. Excellent pancakes but also everything else. Medium to high prices but worth it.

Polished glamour and excellence. Perfect for a breakfast meeting, girly lunch or a romantic date, and a coffee break with a cake too! They always hold back tables for walk-ins so also an option for an impromptu visit.

Can't fault the quality of the food but unfortunately the service was unbelievably slow on a Saturday night. Waiters were so rushed off their feet that making very blatant gestures and intense eye contact was the only way to get their attention to do the most basic steps like ordering dishes and getting the bill. Inexcusable on a Saturday night, the ONE night the manager should know the place will be busy.

About The Wolseley

The Wolseley is a café-restaurant located in the heart of Mayfair, on London’s iconic Piccadilly. It is one of the most popular dining destinations in the city, serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and weekend brunch. The restaurant has a rich history and has been an integral part of London’s social scene for over 100 years.

The Wolseley was originally built as a car showroom for Wolseley Motors in 1921. In 2003 it was transformed into a café-restaurant by restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King. The duo had previously owned some of London’s most successful restaurants including The Ivy and Le Caprice.

The restaurant's interior is grand and opulent with high ceilings, marble pillars, chandeliers and art deco features. It exudes an old-world charm that transports diners back to the glamourous era of the 1920s.

One of the highlights at The Wolseley is their breakfast menu which includes classic dishes such as Eggs Benedict, Kedgeree and Full English Breakfast. They also offer lighter options such as fruit salad or granola for those who prefer something healthier.

For lunch or dinner guests can choose from a range of European-inspired dishes including steak tartare, Wiener Schnitzel or grilled sea bass with fennel puree. Vegetarians are also well catered for with options such as roasted butternut squash risotto or wild mushroom tagliatelle.

Afternoon tea at The Wolseley is an experience not to be missed. Served on tiered cake stands it includes finger sandwiches filled with smoked salmon or cucumber & cream cheese; freshly baked scones served with clotted cream & jam; and an array of delicate pastries & cakes.

Weekend brunch at The Wolseley is another popular option where guests can indulge in dishes such as blueberry pancakes with maple syrup; avocado toast with poached eggs; or smoked salmon bagels served with cream cheese & capers.

In addition to its food offerings, The Wolseley also boasts an impressive wine list featuring wines from around the world including France, Italy and Australia. They also have a selection of cocktails which are perfect for pre-dinner drinks or after-work gatherings.

Overall, dining at The Wolseley is more than just eating out - it's an experience that combines great food with impeccable service in stunning surroundings steeped in history. Whether you're looking for breakfast before work; lunch during your shopping trip on Oxford Street; afternoon tea after visiting Buckingham Palace; dinner before heading to the theatre; or weekend brunch catching up with friends - there's something for everyone at this iconic London institution!
