I checked in around 1820 hours went to my room and once settled went to bar to have dinner. The meal I ordered was mediocre and the fries were warm not hot and the burger was ok but nothing to write home about. The premises in general looks tired in places and requires a coat of paint. So about 2030 hours I went to my room to find that there is no running cold water. I called reception to discover that this problem was known about when I checked in. So no flushing toilets, drinking water or likely no shower in the morning. I am staying on business and have a long day ahead tomorrow so not best pleased. Had I been advised prior to check in I could have made alternative arrangements. I was told I could have a bucket to throw water down the toilet and if I went to the bar I could get some bottled water. Having stayed in various hotels the main thing that annoys me is the complete lack of communication and the laid back service to the issue. Needless to say I won t be staying again and cannot speak to management until the morning.

They have a great selection of drinks and special beers. A lovely atmosphere and a moderate level of sound (speaking and music). All in all a wonderful place to get a few pints in with the mates.

Great pub, has been so for at least the ten years I've been going. Huge indoors and the extension means they have expanded the guest rooms. Now the outdoor area has a fantastic burger grill. Awesome.

Perfect for a day in the sun next to the common. Only sat in the outdoors part of the pub but it was lovely, the food my friends got looked great and the drinks were good too. Lovely afternoon /evening

this review is on behalf of a friend of mine. She inquired about holding a wake at this and I quote "friendly local bub", for the passing of her mum on the 8th July 2014 to be held on 18th July 2014 and was told she could have the blue room and food for a set price (witch was for a ridiculous amount). after negotiating a final price she went to confirm with family members. 2 hours later she called them back to confirm payment and was told quite rudely that she couldn't have any of it. I think this was quite heartless of then and left my friend feeling overwhelmed and panicked at where else she could go after this experience. I will be complaining to youngs also about this matter. NOTE TO YOU WINDMILL!!! change you slogan "at heart we're friendly local pub". YOU ARE NOT THIS AT ALL!!!

Always enjoy dining at the Windmill, the staff in the restaurant are excellent, friendly, and welcoming to kids. Never regretted eating there, great setting, good food, nice selection of beers and whiskey.

Went there for a Friday night dinner post lockdown. We were only able to order through the app but neither I nor my husband seemed to have any signal. The Manager was very unhelpful and borderline rude when we complained to him that we Couldn t seem to get the app working. He then suggested we use the WiFi (which he didn t give a name for) and shrugged his shoulders when we told him we couldn t find the wifi, let alone connect. I tried to walk into the pub to get signal and was chased out. Will never go back there again. On our way out we overheard the table next to us complain that they had waited 20 minutes for drinks which were actually wrong when their order finally came. Save yourself the drama - this pub doesn t seem to be functioning well under post-covid conditions.

Great spot and the sun was shining so I was ok to have a longer than expected wait for my sandwich. However when it arrived it was not as advertised with Granary bread, it came as thin white. If the sandwich had looked have decent I would have accepted it, but for the price I was not prepared to settle. The barman was helpful and polite, but they didn t have granary so sent out the sandwich anyway, which I think is the wrong attitude. Patrons should be told and make a decision based on the available ingredients.

My sons mac n cheese was over cooked and there wasn t much flavour. He seemed to enjoy it as kids do. This wasn t my worst experience, but certainly not the best.

Lovely old pub right in the heart of the common and it's a lovely atmosphere. The spacious lounge and dining areas make it feel extremely open and airy while still keeping that coasy old pub feel. Prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. We had a sharing platter, fish and chips and the steak pie. All were excellent and excceded our expectation of good pub food.

As a frequent customer, I was disappointed at the unattentative and sarcastic waitress who served us earlier this week. Reasons:
1. Upon asking for the soup of the day, she replied wrongfully that it was celery soup. It was celeriac which is quite different in culinary terms.
2. She then sarcastic said the soup is as per listed on the menu as if to suggest I should read it myself.
3. She didn't offer any condiments after the food arrived.
4. She didn't refill our jar of water.
I wouldn't have written this feedback if it wasn't for her poor manner which was distinctively noticeable by my guests.
