This is a nice treasure for South Londoners; positioned on the very edge of the actual Common it's an absolute must visit during the summer months. There's a good selection of drinks available, the food is high quality and not too expensive. The building itself is great, lots of different rooms, plenty of space (inside and out) and the staff are friendly. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from Clapham Common tube station and 3-5 minutes from Clapham South.

We ve been to the windmill several times in the past and liked it.

However, this Friday evening was a horrible experience.

My pregnant wife and I were looking to go out and booked an outdoor table for dinner. We chose here so we could sit outside (need to minimise risk of wife getting infected) - arrived and shown to the table.

Here we were told to order using the app...which is fine...except it didn t work. I think largely due to the amount of people in the area neither of us could get enough phone signal to use it (we both know how to use apps!).

When telling the manager, he said to try their wifi...which didn t reach. He was abrupt and dismissive and to be honest just didn t care if we ordered or not. We tried for about 15 minutes and were forced to leave as we couldn t order...bizarre.

Given we d walked 30 mins to get here and looking forward to relaxing after a long week, to be dismissed without any bother was just bemusing. Clearly this local pub doesn t need local support.

So we went to the Abbeville where the attitude of staff was second to none...that s where our custom will go in future.

Love the Windmill! Staying annually for a company do for 5-6 years now.
Interior great, staff great, food great, atmosphere friendly, Max the pub/hotel dog - in love with! The only negative is the size of the car park but there's nothing that can be done about this.

The place and the food are nice but the night was spoilt by a rude waiter called Dan who forgot to add to the order a meal we ordered and failed to recognise that in an extremely rude manners. The place is nice though, just try to avoid this waiter

Had a lovely stay at the Hotel. Rooms were newly refurbished, cleanliness was up to standard, location was good for restaurants and bars of Clapham lovely to retreat to the peaceful green surrounded Hotel. I have stayed at many hotels around the globe .Was let down when being checked out by the spectacled bald asian gentleman on reception and a little taken aback when he couldn't be bothered to come from around his desk and help us with our cases, but then when my driver came in to get me he asked him to help with our cases! Apart from that lazy sod i would definitely recommend this Hotel to my colleagues in the hospitality industry. Thumbs up!

Lovely spot. Staff were soo pleasant and helpful. Great bar and food. Hotel entrance is a bit hidden could be better sign posted. A member of the barstaff walked me right to recption. Surrounded by park which was great in the good weather. Set back off the main road so traffic noise isnt an issue. Bus stop right there. Rooms are spacious and comfy. No complaints at all. Highly recommend.

One of my favourite pubs in Clapham, scores highly on all fronts. Great location, on the Common.
The building is a good size, seats a lot inside for a great meal.
The food is very good indeed, including the sausage rolls on their bar snack menu.
It is dog friendly.
A wonderful out door space.
Love it.

Our local pub that features good food and easy atmosphere for drinks and catch ups. Nice and helpful staff. Live broadcasts here attract a big crowd so recommend booking space for groups or arriving super early for public events!

Great pub, light an airy rather than a dingy pub. Good selection of beer. They do an amazing Sunday roast which is huge. If you are lucky enough the owner's massive dog sometimes roams the pub and you can give him pats and treats

Nice pub, great in the summer on the edge of common. They do live music here sometimes. Always pretty busy on the weekends and the food is pretty good too. Pretty good selection on beers. Try the sausage rolls at the bar

Nice pub with a lovely open space outside. Easily accessible from Clapham Common though first timers might have a bit of difficulty finding it. Though the weather wasn't great when we went, we still sat outside and had a good time.

I usually don't write reviews but wow, this was so bad I had to.

Generally a very nice looking place busy etc etc and the staff seemed to make an effort to get us a table, but from then it went downwards very very quickly.

We sat down and our table was still cluttered from the people before us, not too bad but once we asked someone if they could clear the table please have the stuff was taken and the rest was left so we cleared ourselves after about 10 minutes.

But then came the food!
The bun for the burger I had ordered was substituted for some other bread because they ran out of the bread I asked for (which was on the menu) but not only that it was also stone cold and looked as if it had been sitting in a fridge for a week or so.

The nice manager got me my money back and and offered me a replacement burger so I thought lets try it again, so the new burger all of a sudden came with the bread I had ordered in the first place, but this time it was a completely different burger with peanut sauce etc etc, well I tried it anyways (one bite) and god can I say that was the most disgusting Burger I have ever tried. Any kebab shop makes a better burger. Could even swallow that bite. Grrrr

So that was my food as for the rest of the table their food was also cold and dry and you name it. I don't know what went wrong there but it was simply bad.

Sorry guys

p.s. the chips were good, cold but good.

Had a great night, then 9pm rolled around and an overly aggressive bouncer comes over and says to my table, the table next to us and the other (the only 3 tables in that room) that we need to stop speaking because there are people staying in the hotel. We do as asked. Last orders ring and we get a last drink, 10 mins after the same bouncer comes over and says 'time to get out!'. I told him we only purchased the drink 10 mins ago and he told us 'time is up, you have to leave' (not just to us but the table of elderly men next to us who also had full drinks). The bouncer ushered us out, no warning to finish our drinks, just that we had to leave then and there. We exchanged words with the elderly gentleman who were also a bit shocked and disheartened that their night came to an abrupt end. My advice would be to not visit here in the evening. The bouncer clearly has a power trip and thinks he's a prison guard, not someone involved in customer service. A real shame as other than him we had a nice time.

It's a great pub but the food is disappointing. Went with friends on Sunday for a sunday roast and it was not worth the money. Super dry and chewy pork and tough beef . Will definitely be back for drinks, but getting food elsewhere.

No character whatsoever. Just a big building, painted to look like one of the smaller, trendier pubs in the area. And really bright lights to highlight the bad decor. Go somewhere else, seriously.

(nothing wrong with the staff or drinks, to be fair, just... Nothing right with the place)

Worst Sunday roast I've had in London at one of the highes pubt prices. Started badly when the waitress delivered the food but no cutlery. Took over five minutes for them to resolve, by which time our food was lukewarm. The beef was chewy to the poin tof being inedible. The pork (wife and a friend ordered this) was so dry it was like cardboard. Burger for another friend was like it had come from maccas.
We all left at least half of our food. Instead of asking if there was a problem the waitress spilt the dregs of a pint on the table, picked up our plates, left the table dripping and walked off.
On the plus side the neighbouring table's puppy got a decent feed, although even he wasn't coming back for seconds.
The beer was good.
