Here now for lunch to celebrate mums birthday. Found the waitress rude and unhelpful when we requested a table in the light dining room area. You would think we were being unreasonable. Food took ages to come. In fact a diner on the table behind us had to leave as he was told his food would be out in time and it wasn't. After plates were cleared we waited ages for dessert menu which we asked for in the end. Our table was sticky and the cob webs hung of the lights. It was not busy so no excuse. Stropy rude staff and over priced for what it is.
The best sunday roast I ever had, glad i went for the Chef s roast: Beef, chicken and pork belly which had a beautiful crackling you don t find often but that you would want to, accompanied with a variety of seasonal vegetables perfectly cooked (props to the chef!)
Beautiful pub in the middle of Clapham Common where you can go for a stroll after such a delicious lunch.
Definitely gonna come back!
Usually love it, but recently met their resident mice.
Stayed here recently when working in London. Cosy hotel close to Clapham tube station. Comfy room with air con & sky tv.
Bar & restaurant on site.
I remember this pub when the bar was in the middle under a coloured glass dome, had nothing to do today so I popped in for a drink and lunch wished I hadn't had the latter!! I went for the salt brisket bloomer , there was a slice of beef cut in half which I rreakon was bought from the local supermarket, it had more wallies (gherkins in it to hide the fact there was no beef. Most of the staff are rude and up themselves, look at strangers as though they shouldn't be ion there, as I said I have been drinking in there on and off for 37 years and it has to be the worst I've ever seen
We had a very pleasant stay. The room was cosy and the staff was friendly. The AC was amazing, mostly because we were there on the hottest day in London history.
