I brought a young cardinal last and I wanted to know how my cardinal was doing, When I call them it s a machine that answers and tells me to email them, so I emailed them and gotten no response from the store whatsoever, they don t notify you at all, and they kill wild birds. If you found an wild bird injured DO NOT!!! Take it to this place, ya I know this place has good reviews but I realized these people don t care about wild birds unless it s a pet and you paid for it, then they might consider, you can t go inside tho and wait, you have to stay outside until someone that works there comes out.

Any non profit that helps animals for me is heaven. I found a little Baltimore Oriole girl that fell off her nest. Took care of her for a week and I was getting too attached had to bring her to a trusted place and this is it. Their unconditional love and willingness to save & rehab wildlife animals is amazing. My baby girl is not only healthy but also in good hands. Now I have to let go.

Just brought a newly hatched bird after almost being eaten by another bird. The bird almost died and was severely injured. I brought it to the Wild Bird Fund, and the immediately started taking care of the bird and trying to keep it warm. I've never had an experience like this but I am glad I came here. I pray the little birdie is okay.

This place is Fantastic Amazing and LifeSaving! I have history here as well. You see aprox. 5 yrs ago I was fortunate enough to have found an injured baby pigeon and after an exhausted search for help trying to find a place for this injured birdie I came across this Magnificent place called The Wild Bird Fund and Ms. Rita. Immediately I raced on the subway from.Brooklyn all the way to.87th n Columbus Ave. The entire way there praying that my last 45 bucks would miraculously be enough to get this poor baby help. Imagine my surprise, shock and utter relief that these wonderful people took this poor defenseless baby bird and helped him turned out to be a her. The point is The Wild Bird Fund is the only one of it's kind in NYC that will take in ALL.wild birds that are injured free of charge. Donations are most graciously welcomed. And they will do everything including surgery free of charge and then they will rehabilitate and release if at all possible. Lets face it folks Wild Birds have it tough in NYC. Pigeons even worse since many consider them a nuisance. To have a place where these majestic wild birds have a chance to be cared for by people who love and appreciate all Wild Birds Including the poorly misunderstood and underrated Pigeons of NY. The wild bird fund is Priceless. If I ever hit the lottery my money is going here! Pic of my recent rescue. The elf is my blind pigeon Stevie that I adopted from Ms. Rita herself almost 5 yrs ago.

I brought in a bird and was told that I can give them a call to check up on it a little later. I did call and email but they never got back to me. 4 stars anyway because they do their job and it s not their responsibility to keep me posted on the health of a wild animal.

Brought in an abandoned baby bird and the volunteers were spectacular. They took the bird in and promised to take care of it. Of course they need donations to keep doing what they do. Sadly I only had a few dollars but they appreciated it and didn t make me feel inadequate about it.

Where does one rout an injured pigeon, newborn squirrel, or abandoned turtle in this urban jungle? Manhattan may vaunt every niche marketer but this unique service is a boon for city dwellers faced with a sudden and previously unacknowledged dilemma. Over the past two years, I have brought a starling that was weaving on a median, a fluorescent lighting-stunned sparrow, fledgling pigeons, and some poor avians that were too mutilated to survive. The Fund never requires a donation and the staffers are universally genial and informative. I have learned how hardy pigeons really are, but if they can't fly, they're likely doomed (and vilified enough as it is so I would not want them to be even more vulnerable). The Fund also offers free workshops and I feel that every compassionate individual should know of this hidden treasure. Most well-meaning pedestrians are completely clueless as to what to do to help. Now everyone with a heart knows exactly where to take them and where the rehabilitation is clearly a labor of love. Many thanks Wild Bird Fund for doing your remarkable work.

Great place that treats ill and injured birds such as pigeons, geese, ducks, chickens, sparrows, robins, doves, as well as other wildlife. Many are successfully rehabilitated and released back to their natural environment.

WBF euthanised my first case. The clerk said there was head trauma and an unidentifiable disease. The official health report had no prognosis, just a "euth in 24 hours" mark. Nurse Jenny appeared to be on another planet and a bit judgemental of my concerns during intake.

Their offices are smaller than a subway train car. Birds are trapped in the window all day long. I have suspicions these people are simply filling a quota and gleaming their licenses 9-to-5 while putting down birds that anyone could actually rehabilitate in a larger setting. Thats why I trust private caretakers.

I wasn t able to go inside due to covid, it looks like a safe place for birds and I can tell they take very good care of them.
However one girl that came out to collect my application was so snooty and condescending saying my cats need to stay indoors all year around , very dismissively. I have a large enclosed garden space, of course I will allow my cat to be outside with me under my supervision. It happened to be a fledging that couldn t fly and was vulnerable. I work in an animal hospital, so I m very aware of the circumstances when it comes to felines and birds as well.
You need to work on your attitude, rude girl with red hair. I decided to walked back and realized she gave me no information at all other than her condescending answer.
spoke with the other girl who was much nicer. I m going to email them and follow up to see how the bird is doing.

The Wild Bird Fund is a haven on Columbus Avenue for all of our injured avian friends that share our crowded city. The tireless staff is kind and compassionate.
It is truly incredible what they do for sparrows, hawks, swans, pigeons and hundreds of migratory birds that would be left to die on the sidewalk-
they perform miracles everyday!

Incredibly helpful, effective, and responsive. I brought an injured King Pigeon to the storefront on Columbus for evaluation. They were kind enough to admit the bird for diagnosis and treatment and keep me informed as to his progress. I was so impressed with their level of commitment and responsibility I had to get a membership to return the support.

I found a young pigeon who had its wing badly torn by what seems to have been a cat. I panicked and thought to myself that I couldn't afford a vet visit, especially an aviary one, not to mention it wasn't my pet. I went online in search of an organization that delt with these situations. Luckily, I found this place. I gave them a call and left a message. It took no more than 20 minutes to get a call back. The lady whom I spoke with assured me to bring in the pigeon and in fact thanked me for saving the bird! It is me who thanks them for their work and their dedication to save wildlife. They are a nonprofit organization that runs on donations. I have always admired people who work for animals because of their passion and these people are in fact passionate about what they do. I would give them 10 stars, not 5. Gob bless this organization and its staff.

This place is wonderful. They take in injured birds (mostly pigeons) and rehabilitate them. Having a place like this in NYC is a blessing, especially for the birds who otherwise would not survive. They answered questions regarding a couple of pigeons who had babies on our terrace. As of now, one of the babies who were born on our terrace found a mate. They consider it home and come every day for some delicious birdseed and fresh water. These birds are monogamous and stay together for life. Most people wouldn't want anything to do with these birds, but these two have stolen our heart. The guidance we recieved from the wild bird fund really helped us understand how to take care of them. It's a very special place, and we've fallen in love with these birds. How could we not love them when you see a little bird get excited when they hear our voice or see us (they look for us through our terrace window in the morning when they're hungry.) The wild bird fund is a very special place. We're glad that they are here in NYC.

I brought in a healthy baby sparrow last week. The baby sparrow did not have any injury or any health conditions. Now I have an email saying that they euthanized the baby sparrow because he/she had malnutrition and metabolic bone diseases. I have a video of where the baby sparrow was healthy and trying to fly. And it was on that same day I brought him to Wild Bird Fund. They killed my baby sparrow. Many people brought in their birds and had this same negative comment. This is not new. I recommend you all bird rescuers not to send your birds to this deadly place and do not donate them ANYMORE! Instead of helping these poor birds, they are killing them for no reason and they lie to you. STAY AWAY FROM WILD BIRD FUND!

I ve brought here numerous injured birds in need of rescue. This org is wonderful and they care about birds of ANY kind. I took pigeons, and last week a dove.
They rescue, release or place birds that can t be let out in the wild. You find here wild geese, fancy and non-fancy pigeons, hens, swans, wild duck, and any other wild feathered beings in need of help. They even
If you ever find a bird and don t know what to do with it, remember where you found it and take it here. If you are looking for a good cause, donate here. Very good people!!

These are the most incredibly wonderful people that staff the wild bird fund. They will help any bird that you bring in. If you can afford a donation they will gladly accept it. They take swans, Raptors, millions of pigeons. It's just an incredible place. They also sometimes will help with squirrels and some other wildlife. A great resource

I started volunteering here. It's been a great experience so far. I've met a duck, a seagull, grackles and a ton of pigeons. If you're looking for a chance to help some birds in need or love animals or are thinking about working as a vet/vet tech, give this place a chance. They do a lot of good work.

Never thought I'd get used to the sights and sounds here but it's oddly soothing.

Just by looking at the pictures I can see that this is the place where the cold and injured NYC pigeons can be taken to. I take my hat off to this place. Well done! I will make a trip to this place real soon as I also rescue pigeons.

Found baby birds that had fallen onto a bike path. Wouldn't normally move them but there was no sign of mom and they were in danger. The people at TWBF were incredibly helpful and were even able to update us when we called to check in on them. So lovely to have these people in the city.

I had the MOST HORRIFIC experience with this organization today and would caution and beg anyone to reconsider before entrusting them with any animal in need. I found a precious Sparrow with a broken leg just outside my door this morning and was lucky enough to be able to coax it into a shoebox and called my veterinarian asking what the best thing to do would be to help him. My veterinarian unfortunately referred me to this organization. I took the sweet Sparrow in the shoebox in a taxi up to the Upper West side and walked into an incredibly unfriendly group of people. I spoke to the woman working behind the desk and told her about the Sparrow's condition, saying explicitly that he had a broken leg but that his wings appeared to be in working order. I also offered to house him and care for him if that was needed as I had grown quite attached to this sweet little being and they were clearly overloaded with birds all over. She quickly told me they would be taking him and she grabbed the shoebox that I had been protecting and took it immediately to the side to OPEN IT. They are BIRDS and birds fly and she OPENED THE BOX and of course the Sparrow quickly flew away as any bird in that state would. The Sparrow flew into a room with a wide open door that SHOULD have been closed and into the water with a Seagull who then drowned the poor little Sparrow while this foolish woman who opened the box stood there looking for where the Sparrow might have landed. I took my time and care to protect this little beast who was drowned and gone within three minutes of this terrifying women snagging the shoebox with him in it from my clutches. I wish I had never gone here. I basically brought on this little Sparrow's death within minutes of walking in the door to a woman who sealed his fate by FOOLISHLY opening a box with a flying being inside and then was SURPRISED he flew. It was even more upsetting that she stood there looking for him while a Seagull drowned him to his death literally steps from her. I would NEVER take any animal I was trying to rescue to these people. They treated the sweet Sparrow I found terribly and had no remorse when I left in tears after committing such effort and care to saving him. Get your act together Wild Bird Fund!!!! Your behavior today was a disgrace and I wish I NEVER heard of you!!!!

They were unable to help me when a fledgling Red Tailed Hawk landed injured on my Romeo & Juliet balcony -- luckily, Ranger Rob from the Central Park Rangers did. But they are a true resource for injured birds and I know they took care of two of three Peacocks from St. John's Cathedral when they needed help. Wonderful organization, wonderfully considerate, dedicated people.

Wild bird rescue facility that is one of NYC's most important resources -- this is an amazing group of dedicated wildlife experts and volunteers who are literally lifesavers for birds in need. I have brought pigeons and sparrows here, and am always impressed by their knowledge and compassion. They do not charge anything, so please donate to WBF if you can -- they do such terrific work!

I brought in an injured starling that I found near the side of the road in Brooklyn. The staff member who met me was very kind and shared some really interesting information in the short time I was there.

This place is absolutely amazing, they saved this wild bird I found and I cannot say enough good things about them!! A sweet little song bird (which they later informed me was a Tennessee Warbler) flew into my kitchen window one morning and I thought it was dead but quickly realized it was still alive. I was able to get it to hop on my finger and I put it in a box and headed straight to this place. When I dropped off the little bird there must ve been three other people dropping off birds as well, and they were still extremely fast and kind in assisting me. They let me know later on that the little bird was saved and it was successfully released. NYC is so lucky because this organization and the people that work here are truly angels!! If you find a wild injured bird in NY that needs help please bring it here!!! I will be donating to show my gratitude and suggest everyone please do the same <3

Turtles Squirrels The staff is responsible for reviving them and when they are ready they take them to safe places and let them go. Certainly if someone wants to make a donation it will be accepted with pleasure that donation will not be for the staff rather for the care of Los animalitos
