The Westin Grand Vancouver Review

We d made the 14.5 hour journey travelling back from a holiday in Thailand when we were told by another hotel that our check-in wasn t until a day later and were in desperate need of a hotel for one night. Can I tell you, the long travel and unexpected travel re-arrangements were all worth it to stay in this brilliant hotel. From the amazingly polite and friendly hotel staff to the room facilities, everything about this hotel is luxury. The beds are likely the most comfortable I have ever slept on (having just stayed in over 10+ hotels/resorts during a 7 week holiday.) The bathroom facilities are luxury too and their personal touches (lavender oil on your bedside to help you sleep better) make you feel extremely welcomed. Their gym is also open 24/7 which is a nice addition to anybody settling into jetlag. I want to personally thank the staff for being so courteous and helpful. I wish we could stay longer!

Nice simple suites. Central location walking distance to Gastown and Robson st shops.

Staff at the Westin Grand were friendly and accommodating while I attended my work meeting.

Quick getaway from Seattle with the family. Got a good last minute rate and had a wonderful stay. Remodels to the hotel since our visit last year we're a welcome change. Staff was incredibly friendly and even gave us a complimentary drink. Would definitely stay again on our next trip.

I felt the service was consistently good and welcoming without being overbearing. Staff was friendly and pleasant to deal with. I also got a free upgrade to a corner suite with a king-sized bed for being a Starwoods Preferred Guest.

Friendly staff, efficient, comfortable, well-located. The rooms are smallish a long stay but the space is used well.

Had Dine out at Hendricks and was a great experience. We had about 16 people and was acommodated with ease. Was even surprised that we were seated in a private room and was able to preorder our meals. Food, service, and atmosphere was good.

May be it Doesn't attract your attention on the outside, but it is absolutely lovely inside. They have nice halls in the second floor for your work related events or parties.

The accommodation is very comfortable for 5 nights.

Very helpful staff, have stayed twice and the rooms have been beautiful and clean both times. The outdoor pool and hot tub was a great place to spend a sunny afternoon. Can't beat the location!

Great hotel, the elevator was broken during our stay so there was heavy wait times but other than that the stay was enjoyable.

No surprises, I always have great experience with the Westin Hotel. Hotel lobby on 2nd floor, concierge on ground floor. The entrance might be small but look for "Hendricks" the restaurant and you will find the entry point as well. Excellent customer service, clean and comfortable room. We stayed at the Workout Suite (only one room available in the hotel per staff) and there were a bike and treadmill in the living room. Comfortable beddings, soft bath towels and robes. The room came with coffee makers, electrical water kettle and refrigerator. Convenient location - walking distance to many great restaurants and the Skytrain station. Would definitely come back.

Very nice 5 star hotel. Our room and our view was beautiful! Great amenities! Our room was not ready at the check in time. We had to wait an hour to get access to our room. We could never find the Concierge at their booth which was frustrating. Parking was expensive. Great location and close to lots of shops and restaurants!

went there for a networking event. staff were busy talking to each other but eventually one helped me. place was nice

The staff is always eager to assist whenever they can. They show an interest in their guests especially Brendan who remembers details about us from our visit six months ago.

We stayed here last month for 2 nights. Big spacious room, newly renovated, separate rain shower with detachable shower extension, separate soak tub, light up vanity mirror in the bathroom, Starbucks coffee! I m a germaphobe and the room was squeaky clean!! Check in and valet staff smiles all the time! They made our stay extra special with sparkling wine and chocolate for our special celebration. Tim Hortons is right beside the hotel. Very convenient location. This will be our go to hotel!

Really terrible service at the breakfast buffet. We were a table of 5 (3 adults, a toddler and an infant). They took our drink order before we could sit down. I ended up with a cold (not iced, just cold) cappuccino, I tried to get the waiter's attention on 3 separate occasions as he walked by our table and I am sure he saw me but ignored me on at least 2 occasions. I would have gotten up and chased them down but I was in the corner on the wall so half the table would have needed to get up and it didn't seem worth it so I just drank it. We only got water at the table when the server was removing the water glasses in the middle of the meal and I asked if we could get some water. We were never asked how our meals were or if we needed anything. They gave us the bill mid meal.They added an automatic gratuity (illegal in BC) of 18%. I asked the rational and he said it was for our large group (3 adults, a toddler and an infant. Seriously?). I asked them to remove it so I could choose my own tip, which they did. The food was fine, but for a $30 a breakfast buffet with terrible service I would never go back.

Great downtown hotel in the heart of the city. Excellent service with modern amenities.

1. Room thermostat wasn't working... room temp couldn't be controlled.
2. Bathroom faucet was crazy... Couldn't control water temperature.
3. One of two elevators broken... wished we had a room on a lower floor; much waiting for elevator.
4. Staff was pleasant.

The people at the reception are super friendly, helpful and professional. It was my first time to have business travel in this area. They told me where to buy some food late night, helped me call taxi and all the service I needed.
The suite was large, quite and comfortable. I had a good time here.

Meh, not impressed! I stayed here for work at the beginning of January and was expecting this Westin hotel to be better than the others if not at par...as it does have grand in the title. I have stayed at other Westin hotels in Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa and this one did not meet my expectations for sure. I stayed for 2 nights and my room was not cleaned at all. My room was not even stocked with shampoo, conditioner, etc. upon check-in either. Anyways, if you are looking for a luxury hotel in downtown Vancouver - this is probably not it!

Nice hotel. We were earned that one elevator was not working, but it was still annoying waiting for the one main guest elevator or the service elevator that was being used while the other is down. We also got upgraded to a bigger room but on the sixth floor. Great view of the wall of the building next door and the pool of the other building. I've stayed there before and had a better time. Servuce was great! Pool ans hot rub area in great shape. We will be back but when both elevators are running and not on the sixth floor.

Some distance from the center and inconvenient for sightseeing. The room is beautiful but narrow. The front desk person was kind.

The view in the restaurant was beautiful, and they were able to accommodate our group. However for $20-$30 a plate, I expected better than what we received. The fries were not crisp at all, and the deep fried fish's batter was almost like eating a fish filled donut. The burger and the turkey sandwich both tasted good, as did the calamari; but, none of them were something that I would crave & return for. Just in discussion afterwards with others who have also come to this restaurant, I think they have great food ideas for thier menu and many delicious sounding items, but their execution is off for the level they should be at a hotel like this. The servers were really friendly, and we were able to joke with them and have a good evening, even though they could have come by more often to refill our waters & drinks. The hotel was quiet and clean, and each room floor had a slightly different color theme in the hallways. The rooms themselves were comfortable, and the view was beautiful. Having a separate mini refrigerator from the bar items was nice, as well as having a mini kitchen hidden away. The bathrooms make you want to draw a bath and stay awhile, and the bed is clean and well fluffed, and invites you for a good night sleep.

The hotel was very nice - staff was extremely courteous, and my newly renovated room on the 19th floor was gorgeous. The workout room was more than what I expected from the hotel, and you're a quick walk from hundreds of things to do in downtown Vancouver. Elevators move EXTREMELY slow, but that's a small complaint. Definitely will stay here again.

Stayed here for a concert. Location was perfect as it is a short walk away from the arena. Staff was very friendly and room was nice.

Great hotel, try to stay up high if you can and take up the heated pool on the third floor. Not cheap

The staff is always friendly at The Westin Grand. I've stayed multiple times and recommend a high-level floor so you can enjoy the view of Vancouver.

There is a Starbucks across the street not to mention a 7-Eleven and NY style pizza joint so you have everything you need close by. Breakfast is a bit pricey ($19 for continental) but they have decent Happy Hour at the Hendricks bar.

Great service, it is located next to the public library of Vancouver in a very central area

Great drinks but the atmosphere was a little lacking in the social lounge.

Great room comfy bed and nice view. I wish the breakfast at the restaurant was less expensive. $19 for a bagel cream cheese, pastries, and yogurt not worth it. Some waffles or eggs and bacon would have been nice.

Went there for a breakfast meeting. The service is very professional and atmosphere is relaxing and pleasant. The food is also consistently good.

Only one elevator for the entire hotel, smaller rooms than in NY

Not a convenient location. Parking is expensive. Staff could be a bit more friendly. Rooms are in the smaller side. The attached restaurant is on the expensive side and buffet is very limited in breakfast.

Ate at the restaurant for breakfast and had the seafood benedict. The food tasted good although I wish the portion size was a little larger. Service was reasonable perhaps could have used a large glass for my orange juice so that the waiter wouldn't have to refill it as often.

Nice overall. Just wish we hadn't come during renovations. No big deal though

3 stars due to 2 elevators for the whole building... 15 minutes to get to ground floor because it stops at each level just to say we're full! Breakfast not included as well... $26 for continental breakfast is not welcoming when the restaurant is unavailable. Room service was not charging for delivery because of this, which was commendable. Excellent room layout in suites. Excellent ammeneties. Loved the lavender oil roll on for bedtime. Large bathroom. Loved the tea kettle availability.

Really. A great hotel at the price point. Comfortable sleep in a dream bed and an efficient check in with great help from the bell staff.

Beautiful rooms, great friendly staff, close to cruise ship pier, very close to B.C. Place, all kinds of eating places near by.

The westin grand had good service and the rooms were very clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The location is great downtown but its kind of loud and theres a few homeless people. I felt like the room layout was a bit strange.

The service is fantastic but the room was small and one of the elevators is broken so we had to wait a very long time for them.

Great location, amazing facilities, and friendly associates.

We arrived at the hotel a bit after 4pm, but the front desk told us our room is still being cleaned up since the guest before us was a premium customer who had a late check out at 4pm. I was told they don't know when the room would be ready and if I can stay in a room on a different floor from my family. Lame reason so I push back. I ended up waiting until 5pm to be able to check in to my room. Don't think I will go back to this hotel.
