We had our company party hosted at the Benson Hotel this weekend and the entire experience was amazing! The hotel is very clean and has an updated but historic feel to it. On top of that every member of their staff went out of their way to insure all of us were taken care of. Thank you!

My girlfriend's car was broken into. The staff helped call the police, work with the garage, and temporarily repair the broken window while we called insurance and repair shop. Great and caring folks in a really cool, historic hotel downtown. One of my favorite places to stay.

I booked 2 nights 2 beds a corner room 5th floor with a view for $320 total at Hotwire it was there surprise deal of the day. The Newly Remodeled Rooms are great I stayed 4+ yrs. Ago and I was disappointed the best thing was the plush v.p. sweet black robes. NOW they are WAY -WAY -BETTER!!! INCREDIBLE BEDS LIKE SLEEPING IN HEAVEN & DEEP BATHTUBS for the perfect bubble bath after two nights of bouncing to 30 hotspots a 2 a.m. bubble bath is a must! I even had the pleasure of viewing the v.p. suite on the 9th floor that is way better than it was before too if u are looking to have a big living room & better view.
Unique Features:
In the beautiful lobby-
5 p.m. : Beer/Wine tasting
8 p.m. nightly live music/dancing
They also have one of the top happy hours in the city feature food and drink plus daily special craft cocktail. (If u don't like the liquor in the special u can switch it to one that fits you. Ie: vodka instead of gin)
Connected to El Goucho's Steak house. ( also great happy hour in afternoon & 10pm. Late night.)

Service:
The service was incredible. They went above and beyond to make our birthdays wonderful from the doormen , bell hop, front desk, maids. There were little thoughtful touches all around. I stayed october 21st & 22nd. A big thank you to each and everyone of you!!!! My original deal typically comea w/ 1 bed and view is a coin toss, but the front desk let me choose and went out of her way to be accommodating. Thank u soon much!!!

P.s.
You must visit Santaria resteraunt up the street its increadible & affordable & it made our trip. Pamper yourself at a value do the City Grills happy hour on the tallest building in the city. Great drinks w a good pour. Also remodeled and much better than they were 4 years ago.

I have lived in Portland my whole life. Please messege me if you would like free travel advice to make a great trip or have questions I love the paying it forward concept and I can give u a great list no matter what your budget!!!I hope this helps & have a great time! P.s.Sorry if there are any typos I'm in a hurry.

This hotel needs to decide if it wants to be a nightclub or a hotel. While the location is good and the rooms are nice, the constant sound of the music from the downstairs bar until 2 in the morning is just too much. After the bar closes, the crowd spills out onto the sidewalk, right under the windows of the hotel, where constant screaming, laughing and even a few fights went on until around 4:30. Needless to say, after 4 nights of this, we were glad to get home. The only other thing I would add is that the hotel staff, although nice, is VERY young and pretty inexperienced, so if you are looking for a great concierge, stay somewhere else.

This historical hotel is in a good downtown location. It's currently being remodeled, which seemed to have been greatly needed. The remodeled rooms are modern with beautiful bathroom features and mostly new furniture. At the moment only one elevator works which is the worst part of the stay.

Went here for a KXL on Tour Event. The Benson is a classic place to stay or in my case hang out for the evening. A variety of areas that you can get comfy read a book or just relax. The room that was used for the event was clean and comfortable. Probably not a place that I could afford to stay at but did find the staff friendly, helpful and would recommend to others. Plus the famous bronze Benson Bubblers are right out in front which is part of our iconic Portland history. Plus you could possibly have a ghostly encounter.

An historic establishment with a grand lobby and lobby bar jazz music in the evenings. Expensive. Check out the decorations during the Christmas season. They are beautiful. Too bad they closed the London Grill restaurant a while back.

Very elegant rustic vibe with tons of paranormal activity. I did get sick after eating in the restaurant though. Not sure if it was bug or something in the spinach omelette but it immediately went through me like in 10 min.... yikes!!

I decided to go to The Palm Court for wine and nibbles with a friend. I figured the Benson's lobby would get me in the holiday spirit and was so happy to be right! While here, we enjoyed the house red and fried artichokes for happy hour. The artichoke hearts are officially my new favorite food! What a beautiful place with excellent food and service I'll definitely be back.

If you ask for creamer be brought to your room, there's a 5 dollar charge. If you get the complimentary tea past 10am there is a 5 dollar delivery charge and a 3 dollar charge for the tea. Oh....plus 20% gratuity. It's very drafty and cold there. Housekeeping is excellent. The room service staff is excellent. Front desk is excellent....except for one lady. She always wears a coat. She's the one that prepares the coffee. She's rude and unapproachable. The coffee in the rooms do not come with cream and sugar.

This hotel has history and a feel of days gone by. The staff service levels are outstanding. The concierge and the valet were outstanding. If you're lucky enough you'll even have an opportunity to see a ghost. The hotels is well priced for its location in Portland. Very comfortable chairs to relax upon in the lobby and a very cool bar that is a great place to meet friends at the end of the day.

The Benson is a great hotel in downtown Portland. It's easy to get to and there's always a space out front to park for valet. One downside of the downtown location is that you typically have to valet your car if you drive. Onstreet parking is usually filled up (and time limited), and nearby parking structures that are cheap are non-existent. This is more a problem with downtown locations than the hotel itself. The valet team at The Benson are great. They're very friendly and very fast at getting your car.

The accomodations are good. The hotel is in an old building, so it has a lot of amazing and unique character (the lobby is beautiful), but that also means some of the rooms feel a bit dated (e.g. smaller bathrooms). I always end up in rooms that look out into a courtyard with HVAC equipment, so my view has never been anything to write home about, but I would imagine the rooms along the outside edge have nice views into the city (it is a downtown hotel, after all).

Overall, I'd recommend stopping into the Benson if you're in town.

The Benson has a very classic hotel feel. The lobby is ornately designed. The reception desk was staffed with very friendly people. The fitness room was small, but sufficient. The rooms themselves were large and clean. I would stay there again.

Tempurpedic mattresses. This hotel oozes class. Rooms are so nice, very well done, cozy, comfortable, clean. Modern.obby is class from another Era but rooms are modern. Staff is incredible. This is old fashioned service the way it was meant to be!

Location and service were great. I'm in my mid thirties and observed a relatively older crowd when I was there....if that means anything to anyone. Amenities are as you'd rationally expect.

The place is very classy and nice, hotel staff is awesome and great dining and breakfast, however I have to give the place 1 star after their terrible back office service. I stayed a total of 18 nights last year and hotel staff did no inform me of the rewards program which would qualify me for free nights in other coasts hotel. When I contacted customer service to redeem the "missing points" the manager ignored my complains and did not even consider giving me part of the points. After a series of emails I felt completelty ignored and for sure will not stay in this hotel anymore due to this incidence.

Sloppy accounting. I made the reservation with my work credit card and gave my personal credit card for incidentals. They charged the whole bill to that credit card, which sent my finances into a tailspin. I have stayed in plenty of hotels before operating in just this way and it's never been a problem. It's been like pulling hens' teeth to get a copy of my receipt so I can submit it to my work accountant. At the same time a colleague was charged for parking when she didn't have a card, so check your bill!

Service was great and the hotel is beautiful, classic, and clean. Parking is very expensive and our room was incredibly small for the price. It barely fit the bed, desk, a TV Stand. Far smaller than your average hotel room.

A "hauntingly," beautiful and gorgeous historic building in the heart of downtown. I honestly can't wait to come back. The accommodations are of quality, coming in I was greeted by music and warm smiley vibes. This is the hotel to be.

This hotel has a lot of character and is located in a prime spot for walking around. The lobby is gorgeous as well. It looked like the elevators needed some work as the controls were duct taped to a stand off the wall and not all were operating.

The room was ok. We had some concerns of cleanliness when we saw multiple stains on the carpet. Then we also noticed a qtip visible on the floor. Maybe just bad luck for us. The design of the bathroom sink was weird, the faucet is so close to the edge you cannot really wash your hands without leaving a mess.

Staff was very friendly.

Fabulous old hotel with a stunning lobby draped in paneled wood and old elegance. The staff was wonderful with turndown service each nice (chocolates on the bedside, of course). Rooms are comfortable and the location can't be beat; many of the best places to go are walkable or easily reached by getting on the MAX at a nearby stop. Small lounge off the lobby (The Palm Court) is a great place to unwind after a long day if you want music and refreshment, and the chairs in front of the gorgeous lobby fireplace are a great place to get some reading done.

If you like old architecture from when hotels were built with elegance and class, this is right up your alley.
