I applied for an apartment with them and wasn t approved for the unit I was interested instead they told me I was approved for basically everything drug infested! I wish I would have never wasted my time !

To whom it concern, I viewed an apartment today at 2108 W Millard today at 10:45am. I would like to say the process in which you showed the apartment felt uncomfortable and a little bit unprofessional. I'm accustomed to viewing an apartment alone not with another potential tenant and to my surprise I was face to face with another client. It felt awkward and forced as if I'm in a competition for this apartment right now, to my surprise I was. I was taken back before I ever saw the apartment when I was given a suggestion of another apartment that was available if I wasn't interested in the apartment I was viewing. I viewed the apartment with the other potential tenant and we were both asked if we were interested? Of course we both said yes and I was told whomever gets to the office first has the apartment. Well the other potential tenant says I have the money order in hand so the property manager says ok you have the apartment. I had the deposit as well plus first months rent at the ready but because the other person spoke up first they get the apartment. I am still astonished at how the whole transaction took place. I was once again asked if I wanted to view the previous apartment suggested and I replied "if it isnt like the one I just viewed then there is no point" which end our interactions. I am perplexed as well at how Urban Alternatives handle the application process. You require a none refundable background fee before the potential tenant sees the apartment which seems odd in itself. The process that occurs normally is the potential client views the apartment and if interested pays said fee and that begins your application process. The person makes it through previous said application process and then the owner makes a decision from there. I feel cheated and taken advantage of with the application fee plus the time I took off of work to view the apartment. I will not suggest your company to anyone I know and will be sending this as a review for anyone who might be interested in doing business with your company.

I have rented from Urban Alternatives for 3 1/2 years. Any time I have an issue I can count on them to quickly answer and take care of the problem. The property manager to my building, Monique, is wonderful to work with. She is always easy to get a hold of and is extremely helpful with any concerns or help I may need. I definitely recommend this rental company.

Although i hate paying rent, I enjoy coming into the office to chit chat with Ms Tonya and the rest of the ladies. That is all!

My experience today was as simple and stress free as possible. On arrival, I was greeted pleasantly by Tanya, who has always in my opinion, always in good spirits. Communication was satisfactory and not forced. My payment was taken and immediately applied to my rental account in less than 5 minutes. Urban Alternatives makes renting from them an easy experience to me.... Keep up the good work ya'll!!!

Seems like a very honest company. Providing apartments and homes for lease. They've been up front with me and provided several options. The screening process was a tad tedious but I get it. They are a business, and want to insure they get quality renters that will pay their rent. Everyone has been good to work with however the person or persons who answer the phone could use some coaching about real customer service (borderline rude). Other than that I am looking forward to a long and hopefully happy relationship for years to come. I was able to find a studio apartment that will meet my needs for now and hope to find a one bedroom in the future that will better suit what I really want. Bottom line, they seem to be a good company for leasing a home. They have a service that provides grounds care year round, regularly provide pest spraying so that says a lot about the company.

I had such a poor experience dealing with the staff. To start things off, they didn't even want to show me the apartment I was interested in because I have "a too common name" and they want to make sure I'm not "that one guy" who has been evicted or has a criminal background (I get why they would want to do a background check but at this point, I hadn't even seen the apartment nor did I know if me and my fiance would want it. If we did, we would have no problem filling out the applications) You know, we live in a world of about 8 billion people.....EVERYONE is bound to find several people with their same name. Anyhow, at first they had agreed to just have me fill out the application but then I get a call a week later from Tonya (who had a very rude and unprofessional demeanor over the phone) telling me my fiance has to fill out an application. After talking to her for a few minutes, I suspected there was a miscommunication on their part and turns out there was. Still, my fiance was going to go ahead and fill out the application. We go back on the site and the apartment is not listed anymore. We call the following day and turns out, it had been rented the previous day just after I spoke to Tonya!

This was a very disappointing experience. I was obviously profiled because of my name and was treated unfairly (the same happened with others who have posted on here). Not to mention the fact that the apartment was already filled and they still wanted us to submit TWO applications. All of this happened over the phone. If this is how you treat people over the phone, I don't want to imagine how you treat your tenants face-to-face. I'm sure I dodged a bullet with this company.

Next time, try typing your names into Google Search and see if only one person comes up.

Company deserves no stars due to customer service. Spoke to Tanya a few minutes ago, can't believe she has a job in customer service! Recommend any and everyone to read the reviews before choosing this agency.

I've had very good customer service experiences with the office. Tanya who works in the office is very knowledgeable and helpful. Couldn't ask for better customer service.

Be prepared to be spoken to like you're garbage. EXTREMELY rude staff in the leasing office was condescending and acted as if i should have been aware of their policies ahead of time ... and my rental application was a waste of her time before she even knew my name. Eye rolling, insulting...just disgusting. They didn't want my business but frankly I don't want theirs either.

I called in to make an appointment. I was told 4:30pm is the last viewing of the day. I knew that from where we were that it was almost impossible to reach that destination by that time as my wife gets out at about 3:30pm every day and she works near the Indiana border. I was informed that it was ok just to call to let them know how late i was going to be. Day of the viewing i called and said it would be 15 mins we were looking on google maps As the I -55 is unforgiving at that time. I was told somehow its us being 2 hours late and its unfair to the individuals who show up on time next. I also was informed you get 1 time to schedule for an appointment without filling out an application. There is an application fee attached to it as well. So what your saying is to blindly invest into your apartments without a viewing and somehow if 430pm is your last appointment slots mon - fri then somehow I'm going to make the next appointment late. I understand that if i made the appointment blindly without knowing or letting them know i would be late then i can understand circumstances would be different. But then proceed to try and get us to fill out an application so we can just view an apartment and be registered to view others is a waste of time. Never rent an apartment you cant see and don't fill out an application just to view one companies properties. The sad part is we were serious about leasing the place. But if you communicate a problem and its not taken seriously and it wastes everyone time why would i fill out an application or better yet why would you? The only way we could have met them at the desired time is take a whole day off work when we haven't had issues viewing other places and working within our time constraints and its not like the problem wasn't communicated.

Please dont waste your time. I called to view a 2br apartment and was rejected due to someone with my name having an eviction. I informed the rep that I have never been evicted. She said I would have to complete a full background check. I told her just to view an apartment, she stated they dont want to waste their time. Really?!. I've never been treated like that before. I have previous landlord beg me not to leave because I pay my rent on time. How do you penalize good people just because they have the same name as someone else. People dont waste your time or money!!!

I called them to get info about how to apply for an apartment and the receptionist Viola was so rude. She thought she clicked over but didnt and was talkin crazy about me. Not a very professional establishment.

I never rented a apartment from there but I have family members that have and I been over to there apartment when you come in the hallway you people hanging in there but it suppose to be safe it's not you go to the office and see all the camera but they don't see the people in hallway hanging out and doing other stuff.and I'm not going to talk service I need too say one star.

This is a very worst place to ask for apartments for rent.There is a lady with name Aysha very rude to customers.
When I was talking to her on phone she has put me on hold and after 15 mins of hold she says how may I assist you.She doesn t even remember who was on call and what did she tell to the customer. So irresponsible.
She also says that no apartment showing anymore because I cancelled one before hand for reason I couldn t make it.Because of that she want me to give all my personal info and charge me and then show the apartment.So rediculous.If offered to have one apartment from them I would go for one.

So far so good. Reps assisting over the phone, every time I called has been no hassle. Getting to view one apartment was understandable. In depth application process for approval. After getting approved saw the apartment I wanted and paid on it same day. Decent neighborhood & building we choose. Called to maintenance, issue resolved same day. Informed them of a new special issue, they promise to have it fixed immediately. This is the service I expect and this is how I treat my customers at work. Hope to be renting from them for years to come if we continue to keep a good line of respect and communication open.

Let me you tell you this the lady in the front Tonya D. was very helpful and understanding to what was going on to my needs and solved everything I needed I really appreciate her.

I m moving out do to roach infestation. I been here a year I been constantly calling for extermination. A roach was in my roommate bed and we are fed up. I believe it s bigger cause they need something better than spraying raid. When I brought that up I was totally dismissed about the cause and still will give me penalty for breaking my lease. I m leaving at the end of the month so I can get a piece of mind.

If i could leave 0 stars i would. They claim to be for their tenants, my building is unsafe, drug interactions daily, people hanging outside of the building and indoors, when i reported it to the building management i was told that I should call the police although they claim to have cameras and the office is adjacent to the building. They have a terrible infestation of rodents and have only exterminated once since i lived here although ive made several complaints. One morning there was a mouse on the hallway stairs and when i called to report it i was told that i would have to wait for maintenance to come out. They are slumlords, everyone i know who lived/live in there properties warned me about them. They refuse to update the unit although its outdated. The sewage was backed up so bad before that it flooded my kitchen, i've had to beg them to replace the toilet and the shower head because they both kept leaking, They barely clean up the building its just disgusting, honestly. If you want to be scammed here is the place for you. Grateful that I am finally moving out of this hell hole.

I love my apartment.I feel safe and secure and when i call the office with a problem tanya and kia are very helpful,polite and professional.

Wish I could give them zero stars, don t even waste your time. Completely unprofessional and not worthy of your business. Tanya, one of their employees, isn t qualified to work a lemonade stand, let alone an actual customer service position.

Would recommend Urban Alternatives to family and friends. Nakia's customer service is amazing!

They have always been very helpful with all situations. I ve rented from them for over a year already. Any issues or requests I have they are quick to help resolve. Fran the property manager for my building has been great to work with. They are quick to answer any maintance requests and the ladies in the office have always been kind and helpful.

Called from southern illinois to visit an apartment in Chicago for my son who is about to go away to college. They said he had to fill out an application and prove his identity because he had an eviction from an apartment he and some woman were sharing...he's 17!
