Thai steak salad is good and huge french toast (one is good enough to share)
Very good eclectic menu for restaurant and bar. Moderately priced. Outdoor seating with heaters when it's cool. Good service.
Amazing food, generous portions, wonderful ethnic variety! Go here!!
Food is usually alright, but the wait is long and I got food poisoning there the last time I went and ordered the week something breakfast. I believe the British banger wasn t cooked all the way through.
Excellent service, but the food which always looks so appealing, is unfortunately pretty mediocre.
I live a couple of hours away now... But I've been going here for over a decade. The service is always fantastic and the food amazing.
Try the seasonal French toast... What's on it is always changing and in my opinion, no syrup is needed.
Delicious. The French Toast is actually rich as well as sweet. Eat it gradually or u can go right into a diabetic person coma. The coffee is excellent as well as they offer neighborhood Stylish Hippie tea. You can not stir coffee w a fork (it's dumb).
Amazing atmosphere and vast menu. Must go place while in sac!
Friendly staff, great food (even vegan option!), and beautiful backyard garden, terrific experience!
The Food!!!! Is amazing!
But...
The Coffee... the worst coffee you can find in Sacramento... either they don't know how to make it, or they buy bad cheap old coffee and then, they don't know how to make it...
Ive been there at least 15 times and each time i went for breakfast i ordered a coffee hoping for a change.. It hasn't come. And they keep taking my coffee money.
The food is amazing!
"TOWER CAFE" buy good beans!!!!!!! Please
A great local dining experience. No wait to be seated outside at 5 pm, but the time we left there was a short wait for people arriving (and more limited parking). We ordered Dutch mushrooms and Polynesian guacamole, both were incredible. Portion sizes leave you with leftovers. I was very happy with my fish and chips. Save room for dessert!
What a wonderful menu they have. The food is excellent. The service is fantastic. And it s an awesome place for people watching. It s a legend in Sacramento.
Funky, fun and an amazingly eclectic menu. An "only in California" kind of place. Right near the original Tower Records.
Decorations are amazing. Never had better fish and chips anywhere else. The meat is so thick
The history here and the ambiance make you overlook the average cuisine. Worth a trip there.
You are on the river and warm comfort inside in the winter with a river view or outside in summer, riverside, great views, nice variety and great bar. If you are in Old Sac, you gave three choices. Joes Crab shack, loud and lots of young ones; The paddlewheel boat, very nice but small restaurant inside seating only; or here, set between the Two both in ambiance and location! The good is American traditional with Italian about seafood options. Very nice place to get away from the hustle of old sac. If you are visiting by boat, it s just about 100 from the dock! For parking, fight for curbside or just go park in the garage near the bridge on Capital, 5 minute walk, tops.,
It was ok French toast was a lil soggy to me and the food was a little over priced to me also but the customer service very inviting..
I've been here twice, and both times the service was friendly and the food was tasty!
The atmosphere is like no other restaurant I've ever visited. The walls are crammed with decorations, including a few beautiful vintage travel posters, lots of trinkets, fake plants, etc. etc. etc. Big plants surround the tables with greenery, both inside and out.
The menu provides an eclectic selection of international and American dishes. For brunch, everything looked good, from the French toast to the omelettes. For lunch, the selection of salads, soup, and sandwiches included favorites and dishes I've never tried. My friend loves the Monte Cristo-like sandwich (I forgot the name of it on the menu), and I thoroughly enjoyed my French Toast with fresh fruit, and the black bean soup and island (?) salad I tried at lunch.
Service was super nice both times. On our lunch visit, one of our servers was being trained, which was interesting but not a problem. Both times I liked our servers, but I admit the timing was a little slow. If you're not in a hurry, that's perfectly fine! We enjoyed the ambiance and conversation.
Wonderful restaurant with a gorgeous outdoor seating area. The food is fresh and delicious and the staff is attentive and friendly.
I went here for the first time and was honestly impressed by the service here. The waiters constantly check up on you to make sure you're doing well & the quality of the food was really good.
I ordered chorizo con huevos and it was actually really good. Definitely am coming back here!
Our party of seven (one infant, two toddlers and four adults) visited on a Monday morning. I was so happy to find that the hostess wasn't bothered at all by the amount of children and was happy to accommodate us. She was able to get a table together right away, even though half of our party was still on the way.
The parking lot is large, which also made things easy. Service was attentive. The only bummer is that they were already out of one of the day's special. My friend Ms. S mentioned that happened to her on her last visit as well...
But they weren't out of the French Toast of the day! So I ordered that - Churro French Toast. It sure didn't look that special - one large slab of bread that looked rather crispy. But oh my goodness! It was the best tasting French Toast I have ever had! The outside did have a very light crisp, but the inside was ridiculously moist - it was basically a custard. It was served with a caramel that was uber creamy and sweet.
Hubby ordered the burrito and shared a large portion with me. This helped balance all the sweet. I really enjoyed the dish. But I have to say that I loved Ms. S's chilaquiles the best when it came to savory. It had very similar flavors to the burrito. But it had those great layers of texture that comes from soggy and crunchy chips. Also, the meat and it's seasoning added a great additional pop of flavor. I would definitely order this on a return visit!
My friend Mr. S went with the steak and eggs and mentioned it was the best he's ever had.
For all those reasons, this place was a home run for me!
The wait is never longer expected and sometimes faster. Waitstaff is awesome and the food has been on par on just about every visit.
I always enjoy the food here and will continue to go even though my last experience wasn't great as I went an inopportune to order what I like as they where changing over from their breakfast menu. I had either salads or sandwiches to choose from so avoid going at around 2:30ish if you dont want to be limited to a very small portion of their menu.
A classic restaurant with great outdoor seating. But on the weekends, you could be waiting for an hour to get a table for brunch if you don't have a reservation.
Best food, welcoming employees, consistently awesome atmosphere. They charge fair rates and the food quality is good. I recommend this place.
I ordered the breakfast burrito, service a little slow, overall yes I will come back.
Patio dining great, had to move there after finding indoor atmosphere noisy and loud, poor acoustics due to building design. Great food and service!
My Salmon was charred and over cooked and way over priced but the atmosphere and company was good
I have eaten at the Tower four times now and each time was an adventure. I look forward to eating there more and more times........
Amazing service, super delicious food but can be a bit pricey. I've been going here for 4 years and looking back at the original prices on my photos till now it's pretty much doubles. But that's what happens when you have super uniquely location and good food. Plus upper class neighborhoods behind it
I love this restaurant , especially the burgers and tai salad . Yummy I highly recommend it. The best waiters in town always so nice and pleasant.
The food was great and the employees were awesome! I love that they let you take your time when you're dining, unlike other restaurants that seem to rush you so they can accommodate more waiting customers. My husband and Iike going on breakfast dates. We happened to be in town and a friend of ours recommended it. This is one of our favorite breakfast restaurants for sure!
Didn't really like the food..
The taste and quality.
Overly crowded too.
Interesting experience, descent food...family friendly. Will go back :)
Oh how I love Tower. Seriously I dream about it for breakfast sometimes. The madame cristo is the only thing I order and it is a wonderful unique take on a classic dish.
We've gone there for years! it! Service&food great! Hawaiian Curry - yummm
This Tower Cafe is excellent, food, service, and ambiance it has it all. A great ensemble of tastes, people, and experience. A MUST
A tourist place that you must visit, the food and the excellent attention, nevertheless I believe that the tourist being and the fame that has causes that the prices are elevated, simple coffee
Fantastic food with a unique interior decoration. The terrace is amazing
Great food and service - if you get a chance to go, then do it!
Beautiful outdoor seating and great service. Food however is a bit disappointing because I don t believe the food is worth waiting in line for 45 mins.
food was room temperature, eggs whites were runny even though ordered over medium 2hr wait hair in my potato salad and hair in my moms sausage. They brought her a new one so illgive an extra star for that. All around mediocre food not to mention a very small menu.
Very delicious and different flavors mixed together. Will be back.
Great food! Well worth the time it takes to find parking on a busy day!
Love the decorations from around the World and the food is tops
Great decor, great food. We went there for dinner because we happened to be in the neighborhood.. definitely worth it. The Jamaican jerk chicken sauce had a kick and was really unique. Mussels were delicious as well.
The historic Tower theater is a local landmark. When you arrive you walk past a splashing fountain and through lush garden to find a cheerful and colorful restaurant with a very eclectic style. The portions are huge and sparkling with flavor. You can either sit outside ( and they have wonderful heaters), or inside. The bar has a full complement of cocktails, the service was friendly and fast. Why wouldn't you want to go?
Food was delicious, atmosphere is out of this world, unique, And the wait staff were so engaging in on their game.
An extremely eclectic interior & a menu to match. Always busy which let's you know how good it is. Some of the best desserts I ever had.
A wonderful place to experience a meal at. Attached next to an older theater and just south of midtown, it s a very memorable spot to eat at. The wait can become long, especially for breakfast on weekends, so make sure to come early to get a good table. This is especially true if you have a larger group. If you sit outside don t worry they have space heaters for you. The food is fantastic and for all sorts of dietary needs as well.
Large menu, good variety, good beer selection, lots of parking.
Good food, nice atmosphere, a little on the expensive side but not too bad.
In my 5 top favorite restaurants. This place has never disappointed. I've had almost everything on the menu but my absolute favorite is the French Toast for breakfast and the Thai Steak Salad for lunch or dinner. The wait when it's crowded can be frustrating but for sure worth it.
The food and service is always top notch. Not to mention the garden and fountains made for a beautiful atmosphere.
Amazing! Try the Malaysian chicken sandwich, can't wait to go back and have another!!
An amazing restaurant. They have great food and atmosphere which will leave most with an incredible restuarant experience. This is a must for all Sacramentoins & those passing by.
First, their atmosphere. If you sit outside you are surrounded by vegetation, fountains, and nature. Inside is very artsy, feels like you're inside a World Market.
The food is also great. By far their signature dish is their french toast. An absolute must have! It is presoaked in custard which makes it crispy on the outside and soft/moist on the inside.
I've been here three times now; twice for lunch, and finally, today, for brunch. My first two visits were great! Awesome food, good drinks, cool atmosphere. The Brazilian Chicken salad is sublime.
But oh man, today sucked. It it weren't for my previous visits, I'd give a 1 star review. After a 45 minute wait (no problem, as this only hyped it up more for us), we were sat at a table that had a plant dangling and hitting the side of my face every time I went to take a bite (inside, not outside seating). Service was very, very slow. I used to work in a restaurant, and I've never understood why being busy is an excuse for slower service. Staff more people, yo.
Anyway, I have been wanting to try this Famous French Toast for like a year. I f-ing love French toast....it's seemingly impossible to have bad french toast. What a letdown! Obviously, people must like it, so I won't roast too hard, but it was truly the worst French toast I've ever had. Crispy outside and nice presentation, but the inside was complete goo. It was so insanely doughy, wet and gross. I don't understand how people could enjoy this. Lame. I will say, however, that the couple of egg whites I had were probably the best I've ever had. Soooo on one hand, the best I've ever had (Drake reference), and also the worst, most irrationally, over-hyped French toast of life.
I'll definitely be back for the awesome salads though! That is, if they'll still have me after this glowing review. I'm still not sure how this is one of the highest rated restaurants in Sac.
One of my favorite places for any meal. Great coffee, good food, friendly staff, love to eat on patio, they have heaters
Delicious food. Service and food is slow so don't go of you're in a hurry.
Everything is cool. Not loud, good food, $$, big outdoor area next to fountain.
This place was great the tuna melt was to die for also the Greek scramble is delicious great atmosphere indoor seating and patio seating one of the best patios I've ever seen friendly and helpful staff great restaurant layout what's a parking lot just around the corner.
Four stars is my normal Max. But, this place is awesome. Being born in SF and living in the Bay Area most of my life, I really appreciate the design, food, people and location. Everyone in my family feels the same (even though they can't really compare it to SF) .
Cool spot and good menu. Had the Monte Cristo with Raspberry Chipotle jelly...pretty good, great service. Highly recommend!
Cannot speak to the food, there was a 45 minute wait... standing, outside. Decided to go somewhere else.
This place has an unique design and every dish i ordered was huge.
Tons of choices for food and beer, delicious meal, great ambience. I really enjoyed my dinner at Tower Cafe!
The jambalaya with fried eggs on top was excellent--for me, enough for two meals. Enjoyed eating in the busy, large patio.
The decorations here are funky and fun. The veggie burger was yummy and unique. Overall it was okay.
Best breakfast in Sac! Period. Probably will be a good wait during weekend brunch.
A beautiful aesthetic location. It feels like you are eating in a jungle! We ordered a few dishes and each delicious. These portions are quite large.
