Eclectic place that is a Sacramento icon. Good food with large portions. A lively atmosphere. Drinks could be improved.

The best brunch spot! Love the outdoor seating area.
They say this place has the best French toast in the land. My mom saw the price for one piece and she was applauded. She ordered anyways and was in awe and loved it. The look on her face after the first bite was classic. . The cornmeal blue berry pancakes were great but would have been better if they had real maple syrup. This why they get only 4 stars because of the lack of real syrup. The outside seating is fantastic. If you haven t been here you should go!
Super Good Food & Desserts made by some of the Friendliest People!! All it takes is trying them once, and you'll be hooked!!
Interesting menu, good food, smokin hot waitresses!
Amazingly diverse menu, with great creative versions of familiar dishes. The house version of vegiburger was luscious!
Awesome place and atmosphere. Great service. Really enjoyed the breakfast.
Bit pricey, but they have food that's not mainstream.
Great place and food. Coffee was not hot but tasty. Would come again.
This establishment usually has a long wait time, I personally recommend getting here early. The food was great very flavorful and tasted delicious, I also loved the international themed decor throughout the building as well.
Funky, eclectic and delicious food! One of my favorite places for brunch.
The food was so good!! Had the texana thai steak. Flavors were excellent and the portions were big. Yin an yang cake as well as el diablo are two must have desserts
Little pricey but very delicious! Fun place with excellent service.
Our favorite place to eat in Sacramento. Love the French toast or cornmeal pancakes for breakfast. Everything we've tried for breakfast or dinner has been delicious! Service is always friendly and the ambiance is fun and quirky. If you still have room after the meal checkout the bakery case, or get something for later :-)
had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again. food is similar to a cafe in indianapolis i liked.
Hearing a lot of hate for this place. As always you gotta get the right dish. Go on the weekend and get the steak and eggs. That thai sauce or whatever on top is stupid good, I'm telling you it might be my favorite piece of meat in Sac. That good. Plus you get some eggs and potatoes (tell them to go extra crispy). The rest of the menu may very well suck. I don't know. The steak and eggs is so good I have gotten it every time.
Honestly you can't go wrong with this place! The french toast is to die for and everything else I've had from the pancakes to the burritos and the mimosas have been way above my expectations for a brunch spot. You will love Tower Cafe. Try the french toast =)
Tower Cafe really only has one draw back and that isn't any fault of it's own. If you try to go on a weekend or holiday it's going to have at least an hour wait. It's absolutely WORTH IT. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive what you need/want. If you are able to sit outside under all the beautiful trees and plants I'd jump on the chance. The food is fantastic on top of having a already wonderful experience. I would recommend trying to go during an off day during the morning that way you avoid the one set back.
The service, the food, the large servings are great. In appropriate weather can sit outside and eat in the Lil garden get there early for breakfast
Great atmosphere and service! Food was just ok, but would go back and try something else
Awesome atmosphere and fresh food. Desserts are fantastic
The outside seating is amazing, such a calming beautiful space. The servers are great and the food.... excellent!
Excellent food, excellent service, fun atmosphere and decor. They have lots of fun twists on classic favorites, and the portions are very generous. I will definitely come here again!
Be sure to try the cornbread pancakes!!
Excellent food..great selections..and traditional breakfast fare make for an excellent brunch. Great outside seeting even in the cold. Very charming. Could be a short wait.
The Oxacan Egg breakfast is amazing if you appreciate delicious food.
Very cool atmosphere, especially the outdoor patio. Food was very good at a reasonable price.
Really good Chinese chicken salad and Thai shrimp salad! A little pricey for families and their kids menu should have at least one more healthy option. Good service and their outside patio seating was beautiful!
We have been coming to Tower Cafe for over 30 years and always have a good experience. We like the consistency and the service. Can get busy so plan accordingly. Also watch out for transition from breakfast to lunch, the 11-11:30 time as you may not get the food that you want.
Beautiful atmosphere, great eclectic selection of high quality foods!
Always love coming here! Such a unique atmosphere and delicious food!
Very nice place with good food , the outdoor seating is somthing you don't find Alot and they have it with a great taste .
Brunch here is always amazing, and the French toast is out of this world. I highly recommend trying to sit in the garden, but if you have to sit inside all the art on the walls is entertaining to look at. I have been here countless times and can count on superb service and great food. Definitely a destination in Sacramento.
Pretentious and Gaudy, yet moderately simple. Decent food.
Usually pretty busy. Great patio with top notch menu. I've never had a complaint in all of the times I've been here.
Great place has good food and service and it has a nice outside area. Not to mention the different type of ethnic food
Delicious food served either inside the comfortable restaurant, or outside on their beautifully planted and and well shaded patio. Excellent service as well.
3 out of 5 -
I've been a Sacramento Native my entire life. I honestly don't see the point of coming here. I could make the menu at home a lot cheaper than their asking price. They said it was "international" it's just as international as Denny's...
Yes, there are some perks - it's very picturesque, very Instagram-able. I came in the afternoon; I would like to see what it looks like in the evening time. But that's about it. I'm not sure if I found their parking lot - but it's downtown and being downtown is rather difficult to find parking.
I guess its a one and done sorta spot. At least for me. Go get your own opinion though!
A trip of a restaurant with cluttered indoor "stuff all over the walls" type of experience, mirrored in the "throw everything and the kitchen sink" at the menu, with all types of random experiences rooted in random nationalities. It's not often you can throw diverse types of food into one menu and pull it off, but they do.. sort of. It's just a diner with cool outdoor seating, and hit enough sweet spots to please a diverse group of customers. Veggies, especially, methinks.
Garbage, huge waste of space, 20 pages menu and they offer NOTHING, I was shocked.
As institutions go.... this ine is great. Eggs Benedict is consistent. Coffee is good and overall the restaurant is a solid 4.5 stars. It can get a bit loud but there isn't much that can be done about that.
Love the food here but I stopped going because they changed the chicken priking and stop serving the Pliny Elder. Used to Be all I would go there for
Wait was quite long. Awesome scenery and great vibe, but service could have been better since there was plenty of waiters/waitresses around. Cracked glass was leaking water, no silverware for the food. Just an unlucky day maybe?
Really tasty. Wait was not very long on a Friday morning.
Very nostalgic theater. They now serve alcohol. Though the drinks are rather expensive it's a nice option to have if your thirsty.
Great staff, wonderful ambiance. The food was very good just a couple of items were to spicy for my taste. We celebrated my daughter's birthday there and I would recommend the cafe to others.
Enjoyed a Friday lunch with a friend today. Fun atmosphere but not too noisy. Eclectic food options. I chose the pulled pork sandwich which balanced the sweet and savory well. A little messy but delicious. I look forward to my next visit.
We came here for the first time in a double date for brunch. The wait time was not that bad. With out reservation, we waited for about 10-15 min. We tried the eggs Benedict and it was amazing!! The iced coffee was not that great though. I could have made a better one at home!
We came with a larger group, and the service was good. The atmosphere is fun but loud. We enjoyed the variety, with safe bets like burgers for the less adventuresome. I enjoyed the spring rolls (they called them something else), and the pear salad on special. The french fry I tasted off another's plate was very good.
They readily modified a drink for me, adding delicious raspberry puree from one of their cocktails to an Italian soda. It was soooooo good. Definitely a highlight of the meal.
Dessert was a bargain at only $6 each and there were so many options. None of them were amazing, sadly. We had the napoleon, the chocolate cream pie, and a slice of German chocolate cake. All were good, but not exciting.
Parking was not easy, and the entrance isn't near any of the spots. However, if you park close to the theater entrance there is a gate you can go through to get to the hostess stand.
Outdoor seating is available, with plenty of heaters going in the cold, but we sat inside.
Good brunch/ breakfast options and very generous portions!!
Really rich brunch food, but a ridiculously long wait
Great food as always.. however, the prices of everything are getting higher and higher.. also they are now charging for every change, every add, and every substitution.. adding a dollar or two is not a big deal, but still, not very friendly thing to do to your customers.
The Borracho Burger is absolutely amazing. All the ingredients are fresh, the aesthetic is fun and welcoming, and the menu is diverse and full of delicious choices.
I absolutely love the atmosphere here! It's a local landmark and has a great patio and outside area. The food is good and affordable. Tower is a great place for taking folks visiting from out of town.
Come here for the veggie burgers and decor. We came here for a pre marathon dinner with a large party. They had no problems seating is at massive table and everyone found something on the menu to like. Servings were ample for all the racers. Veggies burgers we're delicious but huge and didn't quite stick together
Their Earth Burger was so delicious. Served with thick cut fries, they definitely provide excellent, hearty vegetarian options. I would definitely return to explore more items on the menu.
The interior decor was fun and quirky. I would also like to dine outside in their garden when it gets warmer
I eat at Tower a couple of times a month, at least. Hearty breakfasts and generous portions for lunch and dinner. Always flavorful. Their signature french toast is the best you will find. Only get the 1/2 order- It's a lot of food. The breakfast burrito is a monster too. Average prices.
Ambiance is delightful. Food was excellent (mango guacamole, jerk chicken, etc) and the service was professional and helpful. I look forward to going back on my next visit to Sac.
A treasure! This place is has the greatest outdoor dining in Sacramento. It can be 106 degrees just beyond this oasis, but you will be sheltered and comfortable within their tiny urban forest. Outside heaters keep it cozy in cooler months. On rainy days, the arty and inviting indoor space is charming. The food is always amazingly fresh, and everything has been carefully thought out to be a special treat. I love their comfort food choices - their grilled cheese sandwich is nothing short of luxurious.
Excellent experience. Suggest using heavy weight cloth napkins, or else larger, heavier, dinner-size paper ones.
Very good food and service. Establishment is very cool too.
Always excellent food. Great patio. Best outdoor seating in Sac. Great bacon & French Toast.
Delicious chocolate mousse and port to accompany. Nice environment inside. I have also eaten outside on the beautiful patio
Man this is a historic and extremely beautiful place to go and get a great tasting meal!!! I've always loved this place!!! Want a beautiful scenic garden patio scenery then this is the place you want to give a try!!
Love the ambiance and decor at this place. Their famous french toast stands up to the expectations. The red sauce that you get in Pomme Frittes is really unique. The earth burger and east african veggie burger are great choice for vegetarians. My recent fav that I discovered is chile rellenos. Has very unique taste and texture with every bite. I didn't like the florentine ravioli I tried last time. Have had better ones elsewhere. Be aware that the portions are pretty huge and sharing with friends/family is always better :)
The outside seating is very delightful! Entrees exceeded perfection! Dessert on display was tempting and turned out to be delicious!
Been here twice, once outside for lunch and once inside for brunch and it has always been a great experience. The staff are warm and servers have always been personable.
On a busy Saturday at Noon we were told we'd need to wait 30 minutes for a spot, and 20 minutes later we received a text that a table opened up for us! They were working thwir butts off to clear tables quickly, and there are MANY tables inside and out. Usually I prefer either inside or outside depending on the restaurant, but both settings were great! A nice warm and welcoming vibe all around.
I recommend the blueberry cornmeal pancakes for breakfast/brunch. My eggs came out wet, which I enjoy but you may want to specify "hard" eggs if you want them scrambled with no runny bits. Also they have Ginger Beer! An automatic plus in my book :) If you are dairy intolerant, as I am they, have soy alternatives but currently no "nut milks"
Oh, and there is a parking lot, but it's always busy (theater patrons and others tend to use the lot).
