The Timbers Restaurant and Fish Market Review

Excellent place. The food, the service, and the atmosphere is wonderful.
The wait staff was attentive and friendly.
The decor is inviting.
For the COVID-conscious, there is plenty of space between groups.
The grouper and coconut shrimp were fantastic.
They have a vast menu, so there is something for everyone, even some vegetarian dishes.
This should be on your list, when visiting Sanibel!

A pleasant surprise and a perfect mix of great service and great food.

There fish store in between the two restaurants sells all the wonderful fish that they serve at the restaurants.

This was my 1st visit at this very nice restaurant . We were greeted by very friendly staff, The seafood selection is great, and the food as fresh as it gets. Also very balanced in flavors. I definitely will be back very soon

Whenever I am in the area, I make it a point to stop at the Timbers. A south Florida trip is just not complete without dinner here

Good food and service is ok. Been coming to this restaurant for years. Never disappointed!

I had the sea bass last night. It had a soft and
mushy consistency. I ate about a third of it and left the rest. The waitress never asked how our meal was and I didn't mention it to her. Within the next two hours I was sick and spent most of the night in the bathroom with symptoms of food poisoning. My husbands filet was good. We spent about $100 for our meal. As you can imagine, I am very disappointed.

We were pretty excited when we first got here and the host was attentive, friendly, and able to seat us fast, but everything went down hill from there. Our waitress was not friendly or helpful when asking for suggestions. The water tastes like it came fresh out of a lake. They don't have any smaller sized steaks and wouldn't let me order off the kids menu to get the six oz sirloin that I wanted. I ended up getting coconut shrimp and although it had an okay flavor the price was high and the shrimp wasn't even cleaned and deveined which made me kind of lose my appetite. All three steaks we ordered came out bloody rare even though they were all ordered as medium well. One member of our party ordered one of the catches of the day and said it was grainy and overpriced for the quality. When the check finally came there were several extra items added to our tab making it over $40 more expensive than it should have been. The waitress said she "mixed up her tables" but I'm a little skeptical to believe that since all of our entrees were on the ticket, there was just a lot of added items that we didn't order. Overall, a very disappointing experience both with the food and service. If you do end up there even after reading this review, just make sure your tab matches what you ordered.

My husband and I are foodies so it is hard to be impressed by a restaurant. I had the Sesame Tuna and my husband had the Parmesan crusted, Chilean Sea Bass. Can I just say melt in your mouth good! The portions were generous and the prices very reasonable. I would highly recommend you check this restaurant out.

Nice atmosphere, all pleased with food. Was my birthday,waitress surprised me with free slice of key lime pie. It was excellent. Whole evening was great.

every year for our anniversary, we have dinner here. most romantic place on the island. fresh sea foods, huge menu. nice selections of wines & beers.

The stone crab was delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the service was great. This was our first time on Sanibel Island. We will definitely be eating here again when we return to the area.

Sorry to say, these weren't the best crab cakes I've ever had, but the service and drink was good.

Traditions on the Beach was closed during our stay at Island Inn in September, 2019. However the Inn prepared a comprehensive list of highly recommended table fare near the Inn.
So we love Sushi and decided on Timbers. Definitely, definitely, definitely the place to go for FANTASTIC Sushi and other fine Seafood or Turf selections. My wife, Ashley chose the California Roll and Oysters Rockefeller I chose the Tuna Poke with Shrimp Tempura roll our first night. The following night I had Spicy Tuna and the Shrimp Tempura again and Ashley did a repeat of the previous meal.
KUDOS to their Sushi chef...excellent and professional service too.
Will definitely recommend this Fine Establishment to Family and friends. We returned to Timbers every time we are in town. This time I loaded photo of Oyster Rockefeller. Its a staple at every dinner or for cocktails and snack.

Went to Timbers for appetizers and drinks. Our waiter, Larry, was rude and had a bad attitude. The decor was nice. Oysters Rockefeller undercooked.

We received our app late and everything from food to service was mediocre at best! Wouldn t recommend - we are more than willing to pay good money for fresh seafood won t be back here.

We've eaten here every time we come to Sanibel most consistent food on the island. Fresh seafood the fried shrimp is always good. Definitely recommend

Edit is below - Lobster bisque was very delicious ....I had mahi mahi and it was very good ..... but that waitress named Laura was so not friendly to us . I don't know what we did , but I listened to her speak with others on a more friendly polite tone . She left the table next to ours their check and said , " thank you for coming
in " , she sat ours down and said sternly .... " I'll take that when you're ready " , and she said it so rudely . I gave only 2 stars because of her bad attitude .

Lovely yummy delicious dinner . Crab bisque is the best with your delicious bread . Had the crab cakes.... delicious . Hubby had the broiled seafood dinner . Every time we come to Sanibel we have to stop at Timbers to eat . Thank you to Sarah D for being a great friendly server . We even been here a few more times since we had Laura . Sarah D is definitely a great addition to your staff ....

We have loved our annual dinners at Timbers when we (snow birds) visit Sanibel. We brought friends for their first Timbers dinner this year and we were disappointed. The staff was attentive and professional but the dinners were less than we have come to expect from Timbers.

Our server was terrible barely said 2 words and anything we needed we had to ask another staff member to get her, and my scallops were so sandy they hurt my teeth. My husband's steak that was supposedly a fillet was maybe a ribeye??? Will not go back ever!

Really wasn't that impressed. My wife and I started visiting Sanibel/ Captiva almost 30 years ago, the food and South Florida atmosphere was amazing back then, it's a mere shadow of its previous greatness. It's sad, but this could be said of most of the older establishments.

We felt very comfortable. The service was very courteous. The food was very good.

I ordered the petite filet mignon which is $24. What I got was a dry, tasteless piece of red meat. My fiance's steak was the same. My future sister-in-law's husband's steak also had no flavor. I thought that maybe they just weren't used to cooking that many steaks at once due to it being a seafood restaurant. I was wrong.
Our server recommended the shrimp scampi to my fiance, which is $18. About 10 minutes later he brought out the same shrimp scampi that I made in a bar kitchen when I was in my twenties: 5 frozen shrimp in a ceramic dish, add a generous scoop of herbed butter, and stick it under a warming lamp until the shrimp turn pink...
To say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. It was both my first and last time at Timbers.

Waitress was terrible with service. Didn't offer special s, didn,t give bread, no water. We never got to see her. Except for the bill.

Had dinner here - good food and drinks. Friendly staff as well. We will be back on our next trip to the island.

We have been coming to Timbers for years, it has always been a pretty constant restaurant with good quality food. This has been slipping over the past year with last Wednesday night the final end. Worst food I have ever had. You pay $29.00 for red grouper and get a tasteless piece of over cooked fish with no seasoning of any kind. That's the end of our trips to Timbers.

The hotel we stayed at recommend this place and it will not disappoint you. I had the sea food sampler with shrimp, scallops and grouper. Was very good. Had 5 shrimp for 2 bucks was very fresh. Our server Ginny was very friendly and knowledgeable. Make this a must stop.

Excellent service, nice atmosphere, but the three fish dishes we ordered were all overcooked. I chose this restaurant because they had local fish; disappointing that they didn't prepare it well.

This was my favorite meal in terms of food in our week on Sanibel. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. The food was delicious! While I didn't eat the goldfish crackers on my salad, I did think they were cute. One reviewer said they spent $300 there but I just don't see how unless they ordered the most expensive things on the menu plus a couple bottles of expensive wine. We were very happy with our meal and the price we paid for it.

Only went to the Fish Market here this trip. Fresh, high quality seafood, along with the sauces to go with, and different spices and rubs to cook it with. Very helpful. Highly recommend.

Delicious, oysters were perfect size, plump and perfectly shucked!

Best local fish selection on the island and prepared perfectly. The bread is wonderful! The prices were steep for us, but they didn't charge us for splitting meals, so we were able to enjoy some of the best fish we've ever had without financing. Highly recommended.
