Very disappointed after having a promise of a fantastic murder mystery weekend in a beautiful hotel in Kilmessan with a 5 course meal for 230 for 2 people sharing or stay in a lodge for 200. All sounded promising. When we arrived yes it was quaint looking and an old station house converted into a guest house more than a hotel. The staff I have to say we're fantastic and is the only saving grace this hotel has. Our room was w
away from the reception in an old converted what I think was a shed for engines. I this stage all seemed well that is until we got to our room. To say it was small would be an understatement in fact had Darby O Gills little people stayed they too would consider it small. No widows apart from a sky light and the lights were poor too and everything was crammed hair dryer did not work and the TV was small with inadequate TV channels RTE 1 & 2 TV3 and their tripe and TG4 the bathroom was pathetic and small and the shower curtain was stained with limescale, extractor fan was broken again not even a skylight and the room became a sauna steam room. The murder mystery was a bit lame and most characters had twins in other words the same actors played different parts. The only mystery was the 5 course meal 2 of the courses disappeared with out trace or we think a cup of coffee and a square of chocolate were masquerading as courses but surely not. The only murder was the caesar salad and prawn cocktail again the villain could not be found. Oh let's not forget the lodge, friends who came with us used the lodge and it can only be best described as semi detached house in a housing estate across the road from the hotel.Having said all that I won't be going back oh one more thing the breakfast was dreadful too. However the staff were wonderful and friendly the DJ was fantastic and stayed with us till the end and played great music and visit the local Centra fantastic coffee and wonderful staff seems typical of Kilmessan welcome. PS didn't work out who killed who in the murder mystery act we just couldn't be bothered so we watched a re run of Murder She Wrote on RTE something.

I have recorded many wedding videos here and I have to say that the hotel and gardens a truly beautiful. The staff are a pleasure to deal with and I found them to be very helpful. I would highly recommend the Station House Hotel to anyone looking to stay in a beautiful location. Douglas - Silverscreen Weddings

Extremely disappointed and very angry. AVOID THIS HOTEL!!! Falsely advertised murder mystery night to us. We paid to entertain ourselves. Just handed pieces of paper and told to walk around and talk to strangers. Dinner was substandard. Was charged 60 euro for this. Some of our group were ripped off with the accommodation and didn't get it as part of the deal as advertised. As for management, they do not want to hear our feedback, they don't care we are upset with them. They have our money and have told us we are wrong to be upset and tough s**t. Its a terrible shame we were treated this way as they have a lovely venue and with a large group like us , would have given them a lot more business. Management seriously need to go to customer appreciation school and learn how to accept negative feedback and act accordingly.

Definitely wont be going back, the staff are friendly but we ordered, eventually then nearly one hour later after being told twice it will be about 5 to 10 minutes our meal came cold this was lunch time no one else in restaurant and no one eating in bar it was only 4 mains we were having so disappointed no explanation and no manager appeared really should not be allowed serve cold food on hot plates.we really should have read the reviews first . The station house is in real need of attention, they are not delivering what they advertised and not putting on plates what's on the menu. Overall very poorly ran the only good thing about here are the grounds .

Disappointed. Lovely surroundings, good food, bad service, long waits.
Booked a table and arrived a little early. Gave our name to several different people but it took too long for us to be taken through. No one seemed to know anything about reservations.
Had two infants with us, had informed them of this, ordered them a baby bowl each. Most lumpy mash ever, ridiculous, it was crushed undercooked potatoes. The restaurant staff didn't know what potatoes were on offer, offered baby boiled and when asked what other options and when she came back told no baby boils just mash. But yet both came out, and proper mash! Food was very good in fairness (bar the veg which was very undercooked, not just al dente!)
Waited ages to be given menus and have order taken to only find out at that point some items weren't available. From sitting at the table to getting our only course was an hour, and it wasn't busy! You can only pay at reception which was backed up.
Going again yesterday to give them the benefit of the doubt from last time. Same experience, shame as with good front of house and waiting staff it would be a fab experience.
Won't be back - be a fool to return as given too many opportunities.

Stayed there last night room 111. Got no sleep as the room is located near the breakfast area and the door banged everytime someone went past. Got to bed at 3 as was awoken and 7 for the day. Room was only half ready when I arrived at 15:20. Shower head was filled with lime with only half the water coming out that should be. Worst shower I ever had in a hotel. It was a pigsback deal so maybe you get what you pay for?!!

I got married here in 2014 and came back for a lunch visit. The food in the restaurant is still top notch and the grounds are so beautiful. The whole location has an olde-worlde, quaint, vintage vibe. I was always impressed with the staff and on our most recent visit everyone was so accommodating and friendly. I was especially impressed that Henry who helped coordinate our wedding day (almost 3.5 years ago) remembered us on our arrival for lunch!
If looking for a prospective wedding venue I can't recommend it enough - but even just for a drink, lunch, afternoon tea (the homemade scone... ) or dinner followed by a walk around the grounds, it can't be beat!

Great place to stay not much to do in the village it's best to have a car you have Trim and Navan 10km away with full off history and things to do. This hotel staff are very friendly and the food is excellent.

Lovely venue for a wedding and especially if you are having the ceremony there. Food is of a very high standard. The staff are very friendly and professional and seem to really enjoy working there which always adds to the atmosphere in a positive way. Would recommend highly.

Nice location, an old building so that excuses some of the maintenance required. Had a look at the wedding venue which was ok but function room seemed small and the worst was the "red" carpet which was very poor. It made a bad impression as well as the cutlery which was aged and in poor condition

Gorgeous place for an outdoor wedding if you get the weather which we did.

We were staying a townhouse 15 minutes away. Room was very basic and dated. Shuttle buses supposedly run every 10 minutes , this was not the case. After asking about 10 times we were left waiting over an hour for the bus, missed a huge part of the wedding. Staff were not great, one lady in particular I have no idea how she is the manager of a hotel because she was extremely unpleasant and had not an ounce of customer service!

Unfortunately , Would never go back or recommend this place as would never want my guests to experience what we did.

Went for dinner during the mid week. The food and service were excellent although the atmosphere was lacking due to a fairly empty dining room. The hotel was busy though with a wedding and other events.

I love this place. A friendly family run business who support local producers and a warm atmosphere to match. Could not rate the staff higher as they were genuinely friendly and more than helpful. The food is as good as it gets with so much coming from the producers in the surrounding Boyne Valley area. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed. The grounds are beautiful and particularly magical at night when the fairy lights run through the wooded walk. Thelma the owner makes her own delishes jams and relishes from fruit she grows herself so don't forget to buy a jar or two before you leave. I will definitely be back for more.

Nice hotel with friendly staff and gorgeous grounds. The accommodation is a little unusual with off-site houses in the village rather than on the grounds, but minivan was used to drop us off and pick us up.

Thank you so much for making our wedding perfect.

Thank you so much for making our wedding perfect.
We were honoured to have our wedding in such a charming 1900 s converted train station.
The romantically decorated gardens and forest were perfect for our photography and provided the perfect atmosphere.
Combined with the wonderful food and lovely staff, it s no wonder couples from all over the country book here. The layout you provide for weddings with the red carpet and outdoor candles and much more really sets the wow factor for arriving guests.
Our guests absolutely loved their time there from the arrival through the beautiful grounds until they left the next day. Everything was perfect.
What an amazing day. Thank you.

A group of 6 friends arrived for afternoon tea. We were approached by a senior staff member who asked what we would like to order without having provided menus. This set the precedent for the entire meal. The men ordered burgers which there was absolutely no issues with but the afternoon tea (with the 38euro price tag) arrived with some of the desserts already melted and no plates provided. We had ordered additional wings (they were tasty but the blue cheese dip was the wateriest we have ever encountered) and chips which we had to ask again for. The plates we requested arrived dirty and we received replacements. The bread used for the sandwiches was stale.

Overall we were flabbergasted to see what the 38 Euro actually bought, as everything in the afternoon tea was well below par for such an esteemed restaurant. We brought this to the attention of reception who kindly offered a drink each to make up for the situation but who goes out of their way to visit such an establishment for a terrible experience? The senior waitress who initially dealt with our table then left it to a younger (albeit wonderful) blonde staff member to apologise for the situation. All in all if you're happy to charge the same prices as city centre top hotels, you should be providing the service that accompanies it.
