I heard about this restaurant after seeing the Head Chef on Chopped. I was excited to see it as an option for Restaurant Week and my girlfriends and I were really looking forward to our meal here. The service rendered this meal unenjoyable and rubbed us all the wrong way from start to finish. Definitely not what we expected from a $$$$ restaurant. The whole place had a flippant club vibe of 'we don't really care if you're here'
1. The waitress told my friend and I 2 different things about what was on the happy hour menu (Only west coast oysters, not the east coast). If she was new, she could have mentioned this beforehand. She also thought that we needed to close out at the bar before moving to our meal - which was rectified by the hostess.
2. The hostesses were uppity and not friendly. Our bad not explaining that we were going to be short one person for dinner, so we started later. She was absolutely unapologetic about having to kick us out at 8:15. (Original reservation for 6:30, we told her we were all ready at 6:50, no one came to check on us in between)
3. Following up on this... 1) our check arrived while we were eating dessert; 2) a busboy was wiping the table while we were paying the bill and got crumbs on my friends lap in his hurried sweeping motions.
4. The waiter wasn't knowledgeable, wasn't aware of the ingredients for the pesto. And frankly being Asian - I am a little offended by an item named 'asian pesto' because it has fish sauce in it.
I will end on a good note, the food was good, definitely above average though the service made it less memorable. I recommend the poke tacos, samosas, and "Asian" salmon. My friends also raved about the donuts with their caramel, strawberry and chocolate sauces.
