Excellent excellent food, but way too loud (went in the evening) and you can't talk.
Excellent excellent food, but way too loud (went in the evening) and you can't talk.
Excellent! We came here for my 21st birthday and the food was some of the best I have ever had anywhere! We especially loved the French Onion soup dumplings, strip steak, arepas, and pierogies. There was a leak in some of the ceiling pipes, but it did not bother our table and the manager gave us free dessert for the slight inconvenience. We had a group of 6 and I thought for the atmosphere and quality of food, it was perfect and reasonably priced for a special night out.
Some of the tastiest food I've eaten in NYC, hands down. After searching far and wide for the perfect restaurant, I took my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner earlier this month. They've got a lot of space with multiple floors, but even on a Wednesday night this place packed out, so I was happy I made a reservation. KEEP IN MIND: portions here are small, especially for the price. They recommended that we order four dishes for two people.
The Stanton Social is the product of Chef / Owner Chris Santos, who some may recognize as one of the judges on the Food Network show Chopped. The food is creative and consists of small plates that are meant for sharing.
My girlfriend and I decided we would do things a little different and started with the " Birthday Cake Milkshake Shots", which consisted of birthday cake ice cream and Maker's Mark bourbon in a tall shot glass, topped with sprinkles. They were tasty, unique, and got things started on the right foot.
For our mains, we went with the French Onion Soup Dumplings, Old School Meatballs, and the Beef Wellington. Everything was fantastic - the French Onion Soup Dumplings were steaming hot, topped with melted cheese, and were basically flavor bombs once you bit into them. The Meatballs, in my opinion, were the least remarkable. They were certainly tasty, but there was nothing too special about them. The Beef Wellington was far and away the favorite of both my girlfriend and I. The flavor was astounding and it was made perfectly. I hesitantly accept that The Stanton Social has made me a huge fan of Beef Wellington, while also acknowledging that I won't be able to find it often and when I do, it'll be expensive.
This would definitely be five stars if not for the price. I completely understand that it comes with the territory - a popular Manhattan restaurant run by a celebrity chef. That's why we saved it for a special occasion. I know the dishes are meant to be shareable, but they're expensive for the portion sizes. I will know that I've made it in life when I can charge $16 for two meatballs. Despite that, great experience, a great birthday dinner, and a restaurant that I'll recommend to everyone.
Delicious French onion soup dumplings and great cocktails in a very cool atmosphere. Similar menu to Beauty and Essex (same owners) but different enough to merit a visit. All plates are tapas style so you should expect to order at least 5-6 for two people. Very good seafood and cool combinations paired with delicious cocktails.
Slider kobe beef burger is good! Nice place with good atmosphere for friends gathering, good sharing food!
Used to be so much better. :( They raised their prices while diminishing the quality of their food. Worst stringy & fatty wellington ever! Not worth it!
Best restaurant in NYC. The crazy cramped quarters are perfectly done with the intimate lighting and decor. This place looks like God dug a hole in NYC and blessed it. The food was bonkers good. I'm not even gonna-- you just gotta go. Stop scrolling. Go.
2nd time here. The first time was a year ago and it was a great experience. This time the service was subpar and food was nothing to write home about.
Food is amazing and the atmosphere is very peaceful.
Not impressed. The food was relatively bland, the service blunt, the table too tiny for plate sharing, and the music too loud for conversation. Good luck getting me back here...
For all the hype this place seems to have on google reviews the service was pretty awful. I was in a party of 6, for brunch around 2:30 in the afternoon and we ordered the $25 open bar. our first drink didn't arrive until 15 minutes after we ordered it, the second took even longer to be delivered. The food, while it was yummy was definitely overpriced. I understand they want their dishes to be "shared" but no one wants to share a 2" pancake. Speaking of pancakes, we ordered the oreo pancakes and were delivered banana. Perhaps the waiter was new, or perhaps he spoke a different language but overall I don't think I'll ever go back. The service should have been better for the price we paid to eat there
The original (well once you couldn't buy fish off the docks in Greenport anymore) and still the best fish market on the North Fork.
The dim sum was very good. From breads to noodles, the food was excellent. My favorite was the sesame rice ball. Good for large groups and kids.
Great spot for brunch. We had a 7 person reservation and although 6 people were there on time they made us wait 20 minutes in the front to be seated because we didn't have a full party even though we informed them we would be drinking and ordering for the 7th guest anyway. The table we sat at was open the entire time 5 feet away from us by the time they allowed us to sit down.
Want a true New York experience? Go to Stanton Social. All your out of town guests will feel like Sex and the City. They'll be like wow this is where all the pretty people and models go.
Stanton Social is a hopping Lower East Side spot. Drinks are awesome and the small plates to share are unlike you have had elsewhere. Mini lobster rolls, sliders, tacos, french onion dumplings, order a bunch to make a meal. Prices are steep so bring at least $60 pp. If you enjoy this, you'd like Beauty and Essex.
One of those close your eyes and point type menus. Or if you have around seven people, just order everything.
In any case the soup dumplings are not to be missed. Neither is the octopus salad, the ribs, or the fried chicken with blue corn waffles.
We were there in January as part of a long weekend's staycation. We were back again for our anniversary over Thanksgiving weekend. We were stuffed but managed to find some room for their Guiness cake, plus an anniversary cupcake and some anniversary donuts.
Great atmosphere, delicious food, even the dessert.
One of my new favorite restaurants in New York... Creative twists on food... First time I've been really excited over food in a long long time!
It had a great ambience, food was delicious and service was awesome. The experience might have been different if we were not sitting on one of the booth tables.
Such good food. The food is served Tapas style so be careful if you are with a group of picky eaters. Come with people with open minds and try everything. They will portion your orders so each person gets a taste. The servers are friendly and will offer good recommendations so be sure to ask. The sliders are not worth the money IMO so stick to the good stuff.
Incredible atmosphere. Power packed flavor behavior in every bite. Staff is phenomenal - Chefs are some of the best in NYC. From presentation to taste buds - hands down a must visit while in NYC.
Came to this restaurant for my birthday with my bf it's very cozy but classy which is cool and the food is amazing I would give more then 5 stars if I could. Only issue I had was I have texture issues with food so if you are like me you probably won't like the onion soup dumplings. But everything else was so good I don't even care that I didn't like them my bf liked them though so they didn't go to waste. We had perogies, Philly cheesesteak, Caesar flatbread, zucchini ravioli, the soup dumplings, beef Wellington, and donuts.
Great place for a trendy Sunday brunch with creative foods to share amongst friends. We made reservations the night before with no problem.
With beautiful, warm decor, surrounding candles, high ceilings, and dim lighting - the place would be a super classy place for a date. Nonetheless, it's real draw is its proclivity towards group sharing. As one friend said, "this is like...a western version of dim sum!" We had a group of 5, and for foods that only came in 4 (i.e. - 4 pierogies), the waitress would offer to add enough to make sure we each would get a piece (at no cost). Major props for the friendly and accommodating service.
Another busy night, another tapas place. Or is the Stanton Social actually a hidden high society nightclub with beat thumping music, glamorous cocktails, and suit clad bodyguards to make you feel like a rockstar? No seriously: bodyguards at each dining section entrance. Located in the Lower East Side this place has a fairly demure entrance: a simple metal door hides a very large restaurant and bar spanning two floors. After checking in with our reservation we could stowed our coats in the complimentary coat check and proceeded upstairs to the bar. Mojitos were fresh, some of the cocktails daring and the jalapeno infused margarita spicy. I wouldn't let your drinks linger too long over dinner as the ice is more foe than friend. Despite having a rezzo for 3 at 2245 we finally got to our table and were greeted by a hip and energetic waitress. The whole experience was similar to a Justin Timberlake 20/20 music video attempting to create a slick yet cool atmosphere that makes you feel like you rub elbows with Jay Z and James Bond nightly.
A short wait and the barrage of food started marching out. French onion soup dumplings screamed comfort food. Chick n n Waffles giving LA a run for its money. Solid pulled pork slider. Well-constructed arepas. Souvlaki. I am hesitant to rate each dish separately because there is a wide enough variety (including plenty of sides, vegetarians options, and a raw bar) that it should be able to satisfy most palettes. The quality of each dish was very high and the first 3 in the list were really standout but a few didn t wow me. Swooning from the food, drinks, and clubbing music we finished the meal off with their warm donut dessert. These were essentially zeppole dressed up with dark chocolate, raspberry syrup, or caramel but boy did they turn Italian gran mama s food into something sexy.
The Stanton Social provides a solid high-life-night-club experience with well executed food thrown in for good measure. Grab a date, class it up (think Bond, James Bond), and prepare for a short wait before your fun evening begins.
Drinks: 5/10 for a solid cocktail listing but you also get the club drinking experience of 3 deep and busy bartenders.
Food: 7/10 due to a large enough variety to keep everyone pleased.
Security: 8/10 due to the big burly security guards at every corner
Paparazzi: 3/10 because even if you feel famous you probably aren t :D
This place is good to go on a Thursday or Friday for some odd reason. The food is good but a bit much for the area. This is not a bad spot at all to catch up too....just go early!
I've eaten here many times over several years. Never really liked it for dinner, but thought it was one of the best brunches in the city, if also one of the most expensive.
I'm done here. It's now JUST expensive. There's nothing bad, but it feels like founder /celebrichef Chris Santos has just checked out and no one has picked up the mantle.
Good food, but def go with a tapas frame of mind. Restaurant week was a bit overpriced. Great
I've had the pleasure of eating here a few times. Always a party in the mouth. Apps are the best since you can share and experiment at the same time. Wait staff is extremely pleasant. Came here during restaurant week as well and was given equally great service.
Terrible experience. Waited over an hour WITH a reservation as they continued to tell us it was only going to be 15 minutes. Ended up leaving.
Fun spot. Family style serving, plates come out coursed and for sharing. Great for groups and first dates
I came to Stanton social looking for something hip and trendy in the neighborhood. We picked the right place when the food was also delicious. It's served family style tapas so go with a bunch of friends and order everything on the menu to try as much as you can. I don't remember anything tasting bad here.
Service was great, phenomenal food, would be a 5 star but the hostess are snobby AF
Great ambiance. Packed on a Tuesday night. The perogies and ceviche were DIVINE. I only wish the portions were larger but small plates allowed for trying different plates. Come with good friends and empty stomachs.
Wonderful menu selection! We had a few dishes to try I ended up trying the Stanton Wedge Salad, Crispy Hard Shell Fish Tacos and the Hand Pulled Chicken Arepas. All dishes in regards to taste was excellent!
Absolutely incredible brunch! So different than anything I've tried! A must-try!
Oreo pancakes are interesting. Added the caramel dipping sauce from the LES Doughnuts and it goes to another level. Ditch the maple syrup and ask for extra caramel dipping sauce lol. The Doughnuts themselves are tasty if a little bit too sweet.
FOR A FUN NIGHT, COME WITH A BIG GROUP AND SHARE LOTS OF PLATES. THE FOOD IS GOOD, THE ATMOSPHERE IS BETTER.
I love dining out so I tired this place for restaurant week and was very disappointed. The food was just horrible. The fish tacos were dry and flavorless. The BLT flat bread dish was horrible. It was as hard as a rock and I had the hardest time eating it with all the salad and squeezed out goat cheese they put on it. My napkin was covered in cheese. It was also flavorless! The dessert was a total thumbs down as well. The only good thing was the free tiny cup of soup they give at the start but that was so tiny. Not worth it at all! I felt ripped off. Would not come here again.
Food is amazing. Well worth the hype and wait to get in. Great staff. Thank you Michael, Tom, Deanne for your hospitality and professionalism
I l-o-v-e this place.
Drinks, food, service etc.
I can't do nothing but recommend everyone to try.
Had an excellent meal here with a few friends! Everything was perfectly shareable between three people (there was often three of the thing on the plate), so if you have more than that I'd get two of some things. Here's what we had:
+ French onion soup dumplings (duh)
+ Cobb salad bites
+ Crispy fish tacos
+ House cut fries
+ Baby back ribs with mango slaw
+ Wild mushroom ravioli
+ Doughnuts
The dumplings are a must. Cobb bites were good but not too exciting. Tacos were excellent but left me wanting - super small bites. The fries were great, the texture was tougher than usual which I know isn't a great way to explain it, but it was like they were fried more - anyway, it worked. Ribs and ravioli were amazing and the doughnuts were out of this world.
The pizza and the doughnuts were awesome. The mac and cheese was good but didn't like it with sausage. Would go back especially for the pizza and doughnuts
Kool bar upstairs with good restaurant downstairs. Good mix!
Delicious food to share, very nice restaurant with modern feel. Had great wine too.
Tapas style plates made for sharing and conversation. The food is so amazing that you have share it to properly enjoy the experience.
The food was regular and the ravioli is way too sweet
Cane here for my bday dinner and all was wonderful!!! Except I was apparently the only bday who didn't get celebrated that night because they never brought out the candle. :( They gave me cookies to go, which were good. But the experience was lacking. And one of our dishes never came out but they still charged us for it. They did take it off after we pointed it out to them. All in all, order the cauliflower!!!!!
Great place with cool bar upstairs, and fancy restaurant downstairs
Their tapas were fun, the drinks were good, the dinner/bar/nightlife was on the classy-fun-sophisticated side. It would be a place to check out again as it was not very uptight!
Eh. This place is average at best. In a pinch, it can be useful for a group get together, but it s overpriced, the food is mediocre, and the scene is not as cool as it once was.
Don t get me wrong, it s a place I ve frequented a bunch over the last five years, but I feel like it gets worse and worse each time.
It s an older, tightly wound crowd (hello, suits and chicks wearing sweater vests over button downs). The music is a bit too loud and their hip indie dance playlist of Hot Chip into Death From Above 1979 doesn t necessarily fit their clientele, or at least it didn t while I was there. It can, however, be a fun place with a good atmosphere.
The layout is nice and they have some cool, comfy booths - but my main issues with price (it was over sixty dollars each per person, we didn t even eat or drink that much) and the fact that the food just isn t amazing. If we re going to spend sixty bucks a head in NYC, we want amazing.
Watered down vodca. I had to order a bottle of bellveder to know I got the real deal. Skip the fish taco. Actually skip the food the drinks and the entire bar. This place is done.
This is one of my go-to places when friends visit from out of town. Gorgeous decor, a hot crowd, and delicious tapas-style snacks. The bar upstairs is perfect for a pre- or post-dinner cocktail.
$10 for 12 French fries!!! 3.95 for 90% ice and 10% fountain soda and u have to pay for the refill. Never going back.
Potato & Goat Cheese Pierogies,
Fresh Onion Soup Dumplings and the Stanton Social Beef Wellington were redic. For dessert - Strawberry shortcake and 90 proof milkshake shots were bunkers.
Almost everything had incredible flavor and unique tastes. Cocktails were yummy too.
Even the ambiance was popin. Good music, attractive people... this place can do no wrong.
Surprisingly not impressed. Menu was eclectic. Food was average. Different, good, but not spectacular. I thought this was run by a celebrity chef so my standards were higher. Surrounded by dive bars. Crab cake was his. Mac and cheese wasn't awesome but ok. Service was good. Decor was outstanding. Music was bad. Rap music? Why?
We went for my husband's bday June 2017 we have been once before. My husband & I we went with my coworkers from my old job. It's a little pricey yet worth the experience & taste. The plates are small plates. The more people you go with, the more you will have to order (and pay). Just a heads up. It's an incredible date night spot for couples. The beef wellington, beef & broccoli and Birthday shot was really scrumptious
I waited over an hour for my table which I had a reservation for. While waiting I saw a live roach. My friends and I decided to stay and wait for the table anyway. Even after notifying the hostess that we had seen a roach we were still not seated! They sent a bus boy to sweep up the roach as though nothing happened. Plus the manager did not step in at all until we said something directly to her when we were seated.
If I could give this place one star I would. It's not worth the money or time. This place is a joke of a restaurant. Spend your money somewhere else.
Above average food, especially the toffee dessert. The French onion soup dumplings are nothing special.
You know, it was ok. The food was generally tasty BUT almost nothing was warm by the time we got it, which may have been a function of the service which again was not great. They brought us someone else's order and didn't make up for the lost time so we sat between dishes for about 45 minutes. We asked for certain small things, and they forgot. Our server didn't appear to be new so I think they just don't have a system here and the customers pay the price. Again, it was fine, I enjoyed much of what we ate but it was expensive and the overall experience was so so.
My GodDaughters 21st bday was a hit at the Stanton Social!
Came here for New Years eve with a larger group and we had a great time. The food was good. Tapas style smaller plates. The french onion soup dumplings and philly cheese steak sliders were the standouts.
On the pricey side, especially with two average bottles of wine.
Came in on Friday night around 8:30 pm without a reservation. Was told to go upstairs to try getting a seat at the bar or lounge. We saw 2 people leaving so quickly grabbed those bar seats.
I ordered as an APP the Crispy Barrio-Style Chicken Taquitos (the roasted guajillo sauce was delicious), as a MAIN DISH the Mexican Street Corn Ravioli (excellent and I will now challenge myself to make this at home), as DESERT the Yuzu Mousse (also delicious and the most amazing pillowy texture). ------ We went (party of 2) for restaurant week, Friday 6:30 and ordered from the restaurant week menu. Train was late/we were late for our reservation and they were very accommodating and still able to fit us in. Started to get busy around 7:00. The food was excellent although the "main dish" was on the smaller side even for a tasting menu. I wish there was a bit more room at the table and the waiter (all very friendly btw) checked in at least one more time during our stay but overall the experience good. ------ If I went back: I would skip the cocktail (Strawberry Fields) .. there were ALOT of muddled strawberries and it was hard to drink AND I would order the chicken and waffles - a neighboring table had them and they looked amazing.
Me and wife had high hopes for this place, but sadly they failed, only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the asst General manager Dave, great guy.. our drinks were great, the food on the other hand wasn't, come out cold, ppl that arrived after us received the food way before us, food was cold when it came, the staff didnt come to the table to for long periods of time.. our waitress was very nice I must say but wasn't very attentive at all..
Amazing food and service. The rips were out of this world!!!! Absolutely amazing!!!!
Came here for Tapas brunch with a group of friends. Lots of interesting and fun dishes! Everything we ordered was delicious.
Great early evening grab for the DT club scene (before the place gets crazy crowded). Love the Small Plates done deluxe (Onion soup dumplings anyone?), although you can skip the Kobe slider!)
What's the deal with social plates? "We recommend you order 4 to 6 dishes for two" which all are priced like a main. While you get hit by plates, menus and the waiter because they had to squeeze another table in there. Get lost with your pushy upselling practice.
Hummm... So I was super hyped about going to this place! From all the reviews it sounded like a spot my husband and I would enjoy. Let me start by saying the music was on point the whole time! They played a lot of our jams. We were More
Seemed alright, but I had to go for work, so it felt forced. Had I went with my wife it would have been better.
Went on a Saturday night the wait is too long when you have a reservation. The food was good. I liked the chicken & waffles the best
every bite impresses - the tenderloin is fantastic, the burgers are perfect, and the drinks are tasty. sometimes too crowded due to be excessively trendy. upstairs serves the same menu and is better for people-watching, tho the middle level overlooking the main dining room is perfect for a group.
The food was way to expensive.. veggie burger which was at least two to three inches so we're the 3 tofu tacos ,And string beans.. 36 bucks. Woow!!! I may try the oreo pancakes? After that, I'd never eat here again!
Great food, amazing staff, and a great atmosphere to have an intimate dinner or out with friends.
