I love their afternoon tea at the Astor's Court. The harpist played Happy Birthday when the server brought out the surprise birthday chocolate mousse for my friend. Everyone clapped and made my friend's day very special!

Excellent hotel, but the jewel of the place is the bar: The King Cole Bar. Wall mural by Maxfield Parrish behind the bar. Yes it s expensive and loud, but you don t care because it s such an icon. Service is good and there are some excellent seats throughout. The bar menu has some fun choices. Every time I m in New York I make it a point to go. It s a relatively inexpensive place to go to say you ve been a part of something so special.

It is the typical American movie hotel. The lobby is very nice and you may meet a famous person. The rooms are amazing and commensurate with the price. The location is good and the area safe. The personnel is very friendly

Surprisingly large, beautifully decorated rooms and a staff that is ready and willing to do whatever you need them to do.

The packing service was particularly cool. Before you leave, ask the butler to pack (or unpack) and they do an awesome job.

Beautifully placed hotel and luxurious rooms with extraordinary decor and service. The staff is very helpful and guess what, the hotel also has a butler service - ensures very timely service.

And a very new thing I saw here - an electric mirror, reflecting TV embedded in washroom mirror.

And yes, the cost is justified - given you book at below 500$ per day, more than that - you have to evaluate priorities!

Wow. I used up a load of SPG points for a couple of nights here and wasn't disappointed. The "basic" room gorgeous - and they won me over by giving my daughter a wee teddy bear, coupon for some candy/sweets in the lower lobby shop, and milk and cookies on her first night.

I was a bit peeved that the butler service didn't provide coffee/tea at any time of day given there are no in-room facilities. I was sure the St Regis in Bangkok did so...

Health Club was small - almost as much room in the generous changing areas as in the facility. No pool - they have an arrangement with a nearby hotel.

All over, a calm, luxurious haven in the middle of mid-town.

St. Regis Hotel ca. 1907 John Jacob Astor conceive...

St. Regis Hotel ca. 1907 John Jacob Astor conceived Hotel St. Regis as a companion of the original Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. While the Waldorf-Astoria was successful, its neighborhood declined in social value. Astor decided that he was going to build a hotel that would combine the best of Europe in elegance and luxury. When buying land on East 55th Street and Fifth Avenue, Astor intended that St. Regis be located in the most elegant part of the city. Astor hired the architecture studio Trowbridge and Livingston. The architects designed an 18-story Beaux-Arts hotel that would be one of the first hotels in the New York skyscraper tower. However, he encountered a controversy from the moment construction began in 1901. The land Astor had bought was in the middle of rows of mansions owned by the Vanderbilts and other wealthy New Yorkers. The St. Regis would rise above their homes and turn their elegant neighborhood into a new center. The residents of St. Regis used their influence to delay as much as possible. First, the Building Board discovered that the hotel was not fireproof properly, which stopped construction. Then, the neighbors sued due to the blasting necessary for the foundations of the hotel, however, the courts ruled against them. Finally, neighbors discovered that St. Regis violated a New York liquor statute due to its proximity to St. Thomas. The statute made it illegal to obtain a liquor license if you were less than 200 feet from a church. St. Regis was able to prevail in court by maintaining that its main entrance was far enough away not to violate the statue.

The St. Regis was completed and opened on September 4, 1904. Some estimates claim that it cost some (astonishing at the moment) $ 5.5 million. The rooms were completely modern with everything from telephones to heating and electric lighting. However, the fight was not over yet. Liquor law also required that St. Regis need the permission of two thirds of its neighbors to approve the liquor license. In 1904, William Rockefeller quickly bought a neighboring mansion to use it to revoke the St. Regis license. However, J.J. Astor immediately bought another to support him. Stories were published in the newspaper to stain the hotel's reputation, but high-profile visits by the Roosevelts and the Japanese imperial family helped reinforce it. Finally, friends of J.J. Astor in the New York Senate prompted an amendment to the liquor law that exempted hotels with more than 200 rooms. The new law left St. Regis and J.J Astor victorious. However, Astor was not going to enjoy the success of St. Regis for a long time, dying in 1912 aboard the Titanic. His son Vincent would sell the St. Regis to the Duke's Durham Realty company, which expanded it by adding another wing. However, during the great depression, Vincent bought it again for a song and invested money to return it to its former glory (including the installation of the Old King Cole Mural of the Knickerbocker Hotel). Since then, it has been restored and remodeled. times. In 1988, it was closed for three years when Sheraton made a complete restoration. Similarly, Starwood would renovate the hotel again in 2014.

The St. Regis is always such a beautiful experience. Dr. Aaron really enjoyed his stay and was happy with the service. Concierge Domenic and Roel were very helpful in assisting with Dr. Aaron with reservations to a well recommended restaurant. I definitely recommend St. Regis to for a wonderful and luxurious experience.

Such a hotel does not have the status to stay usually, but it was the best experience anyway.
This is the first time I was completely satisfied except with a hotel in Japan. I have also stayed at The St. Regis in Mumbai, but it was the difference between clouds and mud.
I would like to try a challenge in the local Osaka, but financial difficulties; ^ _ ^ A
It is better to make the economy an economy and spend money on the hotel.

I would recommend the St. Regis to anyone and everyone. The rooms are incredible, and I never wanted to leave the bathroom! Also, if you have the opportunity to take the house car, you won't regret it. I will never stay anywhere else while in the city.

An absolute historic gem on 5th ave. The hotel brings out the elegance of a bygone era. The rooms are state of the art with tv's in the bathroom mirrors! The service is impeccable and everything you need is the push of a button away.

The St. Regis is one of the top luxury hotels in New York. The service of top notch, including the butler service for each room. If you're busy, the butler can help unpack and pack your luggage among many other services like two complimentary garment presses. The decor and upkeep are simply perfect. All in all, you can't go wrong with the St. Regis if you're looking for the very best. Kudos to the General Manager Mr. Geray.

Faulty, old electricity. No early check in. Arrived at 2pm after requesting early check in and was assured that a room would be ready before the usual 4pm check in. Waited 2 hours in a cramped "Cognac Room" with 6 chairs and no refreshments or snacks. Not worth the $$

Beautiful hotel, good rooms and room service but very disappointing food and service at the restaurant. When you pay for more than $50 for a simple breakfast item or a egg dish, you expect nicely hand cut house roasted potatoes or vegetables. Instead the chef choose to serve multi colored frozen precut potatoes from Sysco. I don t even serve that fir staff food. So as service, there are 2/3 managers and waiters roaming around but no one care if your water or juice glasses are empty. I would recommend the hotel but never again in that restaurant.

Beautiful hotel. Our room was lovely and the bathroom was large and clean. Included in our stay was a butler who catered to our every request whose purpose was to pamper us during our stay here. Everything was within walking distance and if you don't feel like walking, they have a house Bentley to take you where you want to go (within a 10 block radius). After years of searching, I've found my favorite hotel in NYC!!!

I realize this property has been around for decades. The walls and staircases have seen it all.
Yet after all this time this property has to be the standard bearer for elegance, service, hospitality and service.
Elegant
Dignified
Proper service.
It is classic New York and it is exactly what a luxury property should be.
In the city that never sleeps, this is the property that never stops serving its guests.
If you re going to do it, do it right. This is New York City and it s not going to be cheap. Its easy to have sticker shock for breakfast or parking. Save up for a trip here and it will be beyond your wildest dreams.

Left message for manager, he never returned the call. I will not recommend this hotel.
