I would give 5 stars for the location, grounds, and restaurant!! The grounds are stunning. The location is PERFECT. The bay is incredible and then the ocean is right across the street. The restaurant is wonderful and the views and quality of food are worth the price to eat there. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the rooms are very old and you can tell, although they do a nice job of spiffing them up. The beds are average for comfort. We had a very partial view of the ocean and a full view of the parking lot and city. It was very noisy but the city lights are quite pretty at night. I think a bay view would be much more serene and beautiful. With all that said, I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to everyone. I would just be more selective of my room choice. But everything else about The Catamaran MORE than made up for that. Can't wait to come back!

This hotel is located on the bay, the "quiet side". There is a boat and paddle board rental place where you can charge services to your room. This was nice and easy. Our room was spa ious and had a kitchenette with a kuerig and a microwave but no utensils to use stove. The bathroom needs to be remodeled. Not 4 star quality. They did have room service but there were no menu's in the room and no hotel info or local thi gs to do information in room. We did order room service after fi ding menu on line for breakfast and it was great. They had movie night on the lawn every night which was super loud for people in their rooms. We also knew nothing about any activities planned by hotel. The coffee shop on premises was good quality and so was the one restaurant that was open during covid.

A big thanks to Dave Hopper for getting everything we needed to fill in the gaps during our conference stay. Super fast and professional service. It's always nice to interact with positive people. Thank you, -Steve O

This place is amazing! The staff is pleasant and helpful. The spa features a steam room, hot sauna, jacuzzi, access to their pool and Vitamin C infused showers. My friend and I enjoyed a relaxing massage followed by peace and quiet in their relaxation lounge! Just heaven for 2 tired working Mommas!

Spa day was excellent, stayed for 6 hours and just relaxed after the massage. Read on beach, walked around bay, went in hot tub, sauna and steam room. Also, they validated the self parking!

This is a very nice place. We had a room with a kitchen and 2 queen beds. The pool was perfect for our 2 grandkids. The restaurant had good food and the service was adequate. It's also great to have access to the bay and the beach at the other end. The only issue was that our toilet would run after flushing so we would have to make sure it stopped. I'm not sure if my wife told management about that issue. We've been to this hotel at least 3 times now because it is close to Sea World and because it's an excellent place to stay.

The resort is a great spot located in Pacific Beach. The Bayside amenities are great with chairs on the sand and a rental area to go out on the water. The bar is great for a quick drink and the decor is lovely.

Staff was friendly and welcoming. Food was decent, lots to choose from and beautiful presentation but lacking a little in flavor (in my opinion) . The best part would have to be the entertainment, which is super interactive. All in all It was a nice family friendly experience.

Great location sat on the bay with the ocean beach just a stroll away, all the staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are spacious if not a little dated & catering, shops and bars are all very good.

Very dated for a 4 star hotel. Our garden view was actually a view of the parking lot, with a few plants down below. Orange juice and a champagne bucket delivered to our room cost us $25.00, really? Pool and Jacuzzi were closed at 10 p.m. another, really? It's summer and we are on vacation. The clincher was the 6 am false fire alarm. The Oceana restaurant that is affilitated with the Catamaran was a fabulous dining experience.

This resort is not what it's cracked up to be. The rooms are in desperate need of renovations, and I was on the penthouse floor in the tower. Paradise Point is a MUCH BETTER resort. There are other negatives, but I won't discuss them all. Plus, parking here is 20 or 25 dollars a day.

For starters the Hotel is about 100 or less yard from the beach Wich was great, it's pretty privet Hotel, has a private intree gate that is Access code only to enter, nice treest and palms surrounding the property, service is decent and overall I would recommend to others..

Beautiful views, large tower room, kitchen is great, but the bathroom is a closet.
The private beach is clean and has chairs and umbrellas for guests.
The walking access to the public beach, restaurants and grocery store was a huge plus. The resort is close to San Diego, Sea World and many great locations for fun adventures.
We have been guests here several times.

Stayed here for our 25th Anniv in October! Beautiful resort, the food was exceptional and the Sunday Brunch was the best I have ever had! Loved the stunning grounds, birds, palm trees, and of course the beach, close to everything! The service was amazing, everything clean and tidy! No doubt we will be back again.

Beautiful hotel with a lot to offer. We live close by and it's one of our go to places for our 2.5 year old to go see some beautiful exotic birds, koi fish,b ducks and turtles. And we love the free to the public beach chairs on the Bay and family movie nights.

I held my wedding at the Catamaran.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate my experience of planning and holding my wedding at the Catamaran an 11.

Staff: The staff was absolutely amazing. Sylvia was who helped us plan and coordinate the event. She was so helpful in helping us plan this process. There were many times we were faced with, questions and decisions we did not quite know the answers too, and Sylvia was so great in guiding us to the right choice. She was so easy to reach and was very organized with documents making sure I had copies of everything, and that all the contracts were clear. She was also wonderful at responding fast to the pile of emails I bombarded her with during the process.

Venue: The venue is absolutely stunning. A lot of the hotels on mission bay can have out of date decor. I did not face this issue at the Catamaran. Both I, and my guest, loved our rooms and experienced fast service when we requested it. Additionally, You are at the tip of the bay and the ocean. From our hotel room you could see both. It was unbelievable how beautiful the sunset was.

Food: The food is phenomenal!! They also provided many options for entrees and accommodated my guests who had food allergies, and were vegetarian. They also had healthy kids meal options that were quality, fresh food. Additionally, they hold business meetings 5 days a week so they are great at cooking for large groups and keeping the food consistent out of the kitchen.

Cost: after much research I found the Catamaran to be very fairly priced. Sylvia was fantastic at helping with suggestions on areas to cut cost that would not show in the overall big picture. She also recommended fabulous vendors as well.

Reality: I know this review seems too good to be true and that no wedding experience could have gone this smoothly. I admit I had my share of issues with vendors and extras but NONE of these came from the Catamaran. They are the only vendor I 100% recommend to everyone.

Good seafood bar run by an excellent crudo/gm chef. All entrees were overcooked, cold, and bland. Poached eggs were completely hard, almost no duck on the chilaqueles, which were flaccid and underseasoned. The prime rib was too cold to melt the compound butter it was served with. Wait staff was largely unprofessional. The shrimp served with the polenta were perfectly cooked but the polenta was flavorless and had separated.

The resort property is gorgeous, location is very convenient as well with plenty to do in the area, lots of restaurants within easy walking distance, and plenty of beaches. The birds at the resort are really neat and the handlers were friendly and entertaining. The rooms were clean but a bit run down. Nothing too major but lose, cracked, or poorly repaired tiles in the bathroom, chipped Formica in the kitchen, very worn furniture, and some struggling old popcorn ceiling. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again if needed. A little updating of the first rooms would greatly improve the overall experience though

I was at the Catamaran Resort Hotel for a company team building event. We were located on the beach front lawn area with adequate seating and shade. Food was served buffet style, water/cucumber water/lemonade/ice dispensers were available. There was a bar with a good selection of beer and mixed drinks. The wait staff were very prompt about removing finished plates and cutlery from our tables. Bathrooms were clean and easy to find. The bird viewing area was a nice break from the beach scene, they were beautiful and even said hello!

It was my 1st time at the resort and enjoyed our Room. Coffee shop was fantastic, service personnel were far more pleasant than the front desk staff. Our room off the pool seemed like a great idea, though the level at which people were screaming and the volume of the music was a bit excessive.

Reserved garden view room 8 months in advance and received a view of an overfilled garbage container and parking garage. Would expect this type of room with a last minute reservation. King bed, not so much up to size and was uncomfortable. Hotel outdated and has "old" odor. Room was cleaned late every day. TV kept blowing a fuse. Hotel staff friendly. Onsite restaurant very good with friendly staff. The best part of the trip was the hotel food.

Perfect location and great facilities. Our 3 year old loved the ducks, the koi pond, the parrot display, the boat ride and the bay. Downsides (not deal breakers): outdated rooms, $25 per day for parking, overpriced rentals. Better to walk a block down Mission Blvd and get a rental for half the price.

Room was dated but resort lobby and, restaurant was nice. Has a beautiful view of mission bay. Close walk to mission beach. Would be a good option if you wanted to be in walking distance of the beach.

From the moment we arrived, we were in awe. All of their personnel went above and beyond to make our stay spectacular. My husband and I put the cozy robes and slippers on that were provided in the room, and our son of course also wanted to wear them. We called the front desk to see if they happened to have any (although it was unlikely) and they replied that they didn't, but could order one and have it delivered by the next morning-free of charge of course. We were absolutely astonished that they went to this extent for a 2 year old child and they next morning we received a robe, slippers and a head rest!
The Palazzo suite truly felt like we had stepped into a palace. The finishings were extremely high end, and the room had a beautiful room. It was 1500 square feet of bliss.
The grounds were absolutely beautiful.
Can't wait to go back as this was definitely one of the best holidays we have ever had. Pure luxury

Warning: Parking is $23 ($28 for valet)! Nice hotel with koi pond and ducks, and macaw display. Got a free upgrade from a garden view to ocean view in the tower. Complimentary lounge chairs on the bay...

We went here for a military couples class and I have to say it is beautiful inside. The waterfall and koi pond inside the lobby was a big hit for our daughters who are 5 and 1 years old. The rooms for the events are spacious and the food they made for us was delicious. Wouldn't mind staying a night or two here if we ever get the chance. Of course, we don't know the prices for the rooms though.

Great location but a little outdated hotel. It s kind of nice that you are able to walk to sand from your room. Pool was okay, free arcade is a plus. Service is average. Employees seems not very happy working here. From valet to front desk. Luck of warm greeting and smile!

I haven t had a lot of experience with hotels right on the beach... and this is just that and why I choose this property... it is right on a beautiful sandy beach. The view from our room was wonderful, you could literally lie down on your bed and see the beach and water. Upon arrival and departure, the baggage and valet staff were personable. The other staff were all pleasant, but not very personable. The area was pretty great and felt like a young and hip vibe when we walked around. However, the rooms are definitely outdated, and an uncomfortable bed. But still that view. We didn t have time for the spa... the fitness center was great... and the food was an 8 out of 10. And I would definitely go back here even if just to chill at the bar or eat at the restaurant. The movie on the beach was a nice touch. For the price... you are getting a fantastic view and there seems to be a lot of activities for families, but I wouldn t consider this a place for a romantic get away. Still a solid property. Did I mention the view and the beach

Love this place, so many ammenities, friendly staff, perfect location. The sunset luau was excellent food and awesome show. The spa gave one if the best massages I've ever had. There is live music at the pool and they sell good beer. View of the bay from our room and the restaurants is breathtaking. Ducks and koi pond and exotic birds around the resort. Friendly staff who don't mind kids but it was nice to go to the spa where kids are not allowed ha. They have a discount rate for extended stay too. Would come back.

A lovely setting to spend the afternoon with dear friends. Lunch was delicious and the server very attentive. The view is fantastic of Sail Bay and residences in Mission Bay. There was a a problem with the pidgeon droppings from above onto ourselves and table after our meal.

We are local San Diego residents and wanted to stop by and get a drink and get out of the house. We abide by California Covid 19 recommendations by maintaining social distancing and wearing masks inside when we may encounter others within close distance. We do this to protect others and are in no way phobic or eccentric but just want to follow the guidelines for ALL of us. I was shocked by the number of people inside, in the men s restroom, walking the corridors, etc....not wearing masks. The managers of the Catamaran and ALL hotels in CA should remind their guests of the regulations put in place in our state. I m not sure of the legalities (as they are very confusing) and the Catamaran probably shouldn t be hosting you but if you are from out of state at the very least follow the guidelines in CA and wear a mask inside and maintain social distancing. We need to do this together.
