There were a lot of things I liked about the Catamaran Resort. Both the room and the location were exceptionally conducive to relaxation. The view in my 14th Floor room was fantastic, and waking up to the beautiful sunrise over the bay every morning was really a magical experience. I also appreciated being a 5 minute walk from the beach and convenience to local restaurants and other attractions.

Like most hotels, there were a few hiccups to the room; the Wi-Fi was pretty slow, and electrical outlets were inconvenient to the night table/bed. Showers, especially during the afternoon were a little cold/lukewarm. Sheets on one of the Queen beds were a little torn, and I didn't receive my 2 complimentary water bottles (supposedly included in the daily resort fee) 2 out of the 4 days I was there (despite complaining about it).

Separate from the room, it also would have been nice if the room's menu for the hotel bar and restaurant included prices for dishes and marked which ones were gluten-free (personal issue). Also, I was very disappointed that the ferry wasn't running in December, despite the 70 degree weather.

That said, none of these things were a major problem (just things to be improved on), and overall, I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back again. The nature around the resort is beautiful, the staff is very friendly, and it made for a great escape from everything for me for the 4 days I was there. Thank you!

It's a beautiful hotel. The only complaint I have is the check-inat the front desk was super slow. It was like a line for a ride at Disneyland around the time I arrived (around 8pm on a Tuesday).

The Catamaran is awesome. We live in the neighborhood and it's a very welcoming environment. Had dinner tonight at Moray's. It was busy due to it being Labor Day weekend and the service suffered. The food was as good as usual which isn't amazing but pretty good. We always recommend a visit even if you don't stay there.

I m giving this place 5 stars because of the service! Yes it s a little dated but the room I have stayed in 3 times now is gorgeous! They just put in a little coffee bar that makes an EXCELLENT cup of coffee! I absolutely LOVE the way I m treated EVERY TIME I AM THERE! I m no one special but they sure make me feel that way. Constant opening doors, anything I ve requested I get immediately. They are just kind people! Mission Beach & Pacific Beach just a hop skip & jump away! Great restaurants in the area as well. I ll be bringing my friends & family for years to come!

Best hotel in Pacific Beach. I refer all of my friends and family to stay here when they visit. The rooms are clean and the hotel is beautiful all around. Location is perfect being right next to the bay and just across the street from the ocean and many restaurants!

The best value in all San Diego. Great service you can sit there for 4 or 5 hours and then didn't Moses best seafood crab unlimited already cracked for you. So she me and you get to take a breakfast item home. For $60 per person you can't beat it!

Great ambiance, grounds,Menities, and the spa is awesome. Room wasn't very clean upon arrival, missing shower curtain... Not the same as a decade ago, but the outside features of the stay were great.

This resort is beautiful. You have easy access to both Pacific Beach and Mission Bay. You are in walking distance to many places to ship and eat or to get Beach rentals. The staff are amazing and the rooms are very nice. Highly recommend.

Lovely space. Fun atmosphere. The people were fantastic. I'd upgrade the sunbathing chairs for something more comfortable and hose the bathrooms down with bleach. The kitchen is good although there were limited tools available. Limited housekeeping services (translate none) should result in reduced pricing.

Loved it! Felt like we were on the Big Island. Can tell they do upkeep, but rooms do need to be modernized for the cost/night (and I had a discount). Grounds and service are great.

There were a few issues that I had during my recent stay, but the most glaring one were the BED BUG BITES I received! I could handle the ancient thermostat with only "Hot" and "Cold" options. I could even handle the shower head that does not move and sprays water at 100 mph. But the fact that I had to endure a week of bed bug bites all over my arms and back, does not speak too well of the hotel. Needless to say, I will not be staying here again. 0/10.

Older but nice resort on the bay. Full San Diego experience with year round nice climate. Most rooms gave a nice view of the water. Restaurants on site are real good and service is on par with the price.

Great resort destination in one of the best places in the world. Though the suites in the hotel tower are a bit dated and the bed wasn't quite as nice as what you find in a Hilton, the view was incredible and you won't want to be spending much time in the room anyways. So much to see and do by the hotel. Bay and beach activities and sports. Nightlife and restaurants all within a short walk. You not want to leave.

Incredible staff, always clean, could use updating but nice spot to relax by the bay. Pictures are from 12th floor tower. Booked as partial ocean view. Resort is Beach front bc bay wraps around, from this side looks few blocks away.

Always beautiful. Always fun. Stay there every year. Good food, great service. Love the parrots. Jackie and her crew take great care of them and always take time to show off their beautiful plumage and talents including talking, laughing, waving, and hanging unsidedown from their perches.

Great location with a beautiful view from the tower. Kid friendly place with a nice pool and hot tub; can be a bit noisy. The tropical theme makes you feel like you're on a Mexico vacation.

We had a great experience this afternoon at the spa which was clean, well-designed and maintained. The jacuzzi and steam sauna and pool were all at the perfect temperature.

What really impressed me was the attention to detail throughout the property. The landscaping and public areas were beautifully maintained. The management and staff really care.

I haven't stayed in the hotel yet but will the next time I am in San Diego.

I've been going here for years because my parents have a symposium for a college there every year. Great tropical atmosphere, one of my favorite Jacuzzis in SD. It's located near the beach and Belmont Park, which means food is readily available all over, which is good because the biggest downside to this resort is that their restaurant is a bit overpriced.

The hotel is generally great -- nice location, beautiful rooms. The Atoll restaurant was pricey but everything was wonderful and the service was great. Here's what wasn't so great, why I won't be back, and why I'd recommend others stay away.

1) Arrived at 3:30 p.m. and one of two reserved rooms was available. Was told we'd be called when room was ready. Having never been called, having seen housekeepers had left the floor, and seeing as it was a half hour after check-in time, I returned at 4:30. I was told the room still wasn't ready. I pointed out that they'd failed to honor the reservation. Clerk apologized and offered a $25 credit for the lounge. We ate instead at the restaurant (figuring a credit is a credit).

2) After finishing dinner at 6:30, still hadn't been called about the room being available. Went back to the front desk a third time. Was told room was ready and got the keys.

3) Noticed later emergency door at base of tower, the largest building was propped open, a clear safety and security issue.

4) At chekout, I realized the credit hadn't been given and that I'd been charged for two cars when I only had one. Had to argue those points at checkout, albeit successfully.

Bottom line, there's no reason for a hotel with a 4 p.m. check in time not to have all reserved rooms ready at 4 p.m. This is just a matter of poor management, but more likely trying to save money on staff. California has an 8.5% unemployment rate I believe. Hire some more housekeepers. It's all part of a general philosophy of nickel and diming guests on quality and charges, and I won't put up with it.

Way overpriced.. Hotel rooms tooooo old & smelly & most things are broken. The only good thing is the access to the sands of the mission bay, which is also accessible by the general public. So no need to pay so much for an amenity which you can access to for free
