Works for large groups as we have annual family reunion here. Access to the Bay is great.

Beautiful gardens, excellent service. Directly on Mission Bay and right across from Pacific Ocean. Relaxing is the word of day here.
Its unique and private atmosphere gives a convincing feeling of retreat from the city. The theme decor is thorough, and, being right up against Mission Bay, consistent even up to the shore. It's in a great location next to the ocean, Belmont Park, Garnet Ave., and Sea World, where there's plenty to do without even needing a car. Great experience overall.
Pretty cool resort but it's definitely out dated. They have a nice bar, its extremely expensive but everything is in the city, exotic birds, beachfront, nice expensive restaurant attached, and the pool and hot tub are nice and big. Front desk people were very nice but really slow, there was 14 of us though but that being said everything was already prebooked and paid for.
A little tired but it is in a good area. Very nice environment around the hotel buildings and parking garage if you park yourself.
We had a fantastic time. Views of the bay were spectacular.
Hidden fees for our room made our final bill ridiculous. Tried to talk to the manager but he refused to take any fees off or even work with us. His response was, "all hotels do this." We will never be back.
Their outdoor lounge circles/firepits are great for having guests over. The waitress will serve your drinks as you are hanging out. Beautiful location and friendly staff. The rooms are okay - nothing too impressive - that's why this received a -1.
Good location but hotel room was less then ideal. Needs improvement and better house cleaning.
Went there to sit at the beach. It was pleasant and clean.
This hotel really feels like a resort. The surroundings has a bit of Pacific theme with all decorations. The building is a typical hotel building that is like one hall on each level. The rooms Are larger though with kitchen. All in all its a nice place.
Grounds are nice, but the rooms suck. Very dated. Feels like a 2 star hotel at best. We requested a king room, and were given an "upgrade" to a "garden view" room. Turned out to be 2 queen beds overlooking the parking lot with lots of noise. Didn't notice the noise until the evening, and since we'd already unpacked a lot of stuff and were only there for one night, didn't bother complaining. But, be warned, there may be some nice rooms here, but we certainly didn't see them. Stay elsewhere if you're able.
We went to The Catamaran for a very belated honeymoon. Its a fun hotel, but maybe not THE most romantic spot. Very family/kid/dog-centric. But vey well situated to the beach and a lot of good eats. Nice enough rooms, but youre mostly paying for tge fun Polynesian theme.
Nice pool and right on the beach. The hotel also features a koi pond and birds.
First off, rooms are old and even on a slight incline. Sliding closet door is off of it's track and is extremely hard to move. Finally, the internet doesn't work well at all, which would be fine if the TV remote wasn't broken to the point where only 3 buttons work. Only reason I gave it two stars is because the bird show was excellent .
The resort is awesome I recommend paddle boarding in the bay and picking up a lime scooter to cruise the boardwalk!
We love the Catamaran! Always have a great time , great food, and great atmosphere! Highly recommend.
Had the Laura and was it great. The food, awesome, entertainment, fabulous. A must for all to see.
Great getaway place for a girls weekend. We enjoyed the restaurant, spa, and other amenities that were there for us. There are spiderwebs on the guardrails and signs pointing the directions. Don't know if they there left there on purpose, but it makes me think that things are not deep cleaned on a regular basis. The restaurant was great --- especially breakfast. The spa treatments were enjoyed by 3 and all said that it was fantastic and that they would most definitely do it again! Thank you for a great stay.
Nice fish and birds. The hotels weren't as clean as I'd have expected. Corners cut on from cleanliness. The decor is old fashioned so i feel a modernization is needed. The staff is friendly, helpful and always smiling.
Great spot for a nice relaxing dinner and drinks. Whether you're visiting or just having a day on the bay.
The facility is right on the water which offers amazing views. The garden, fish and parrots are super cool.
The rooms are comfortable and the kitchentte is nice to have.
The only reason I gave 4 stars is that the rooms are very very outdated. This hotel could use major renovations especially in the rooms.
Setting is fantastic, but our server left something to be desired. Not going to knock the place based on one bad server though.
We love the Catamaran Resort Hotel in Mission Beach - Mission Bay area of San Diego. Everything is close by however we love going there and having paddle boards, boat rentals, private beach area and pool area with outdoor restaurant areas and amazing ocean views. The kids have a blast and we avoid all the beach congestion and parking issues and have a relaxed time there. Beach bay front rooms are great places for birthday parties and spending time with family and friends. I live in Mission Beach and use this as the ultimate stay cation spot and the kids have a blast running from the beach to make sand castles to the pool and playing free video games. Staff is awesome - Crystal at the front desk was great and very accommodating to get us a room with a sleeper couch, Ben the pool guy is super courteous and always has a warm towel for evening swimmers when a slight chill hits the air and Jesus and the bell staff people were very gracious and kind bringing in birthday cake, presents and luggage for mom and the kids. If you want to hit the beach and boardwalk it is right across the street and tons of good restaurants are a short stroll away. We live in San Diego and could go anywhere but this is by far our favorite spot!
Staying in San Diego! Stay every year and have a blast every time!
Some people need rest and I'm the one of that I go to this place which is catamaran resort Hotel and spa first they here I'm happy i think I'm falling in love in this place so nice the view can make you happy at all the time all stress is disappear i will be right back in this place.
As an event attendee, the rooms we're clean and cool, the staff was friendly, and the place itself is pretty nice.
Hotel ideally placed, if you are in the tower must be at least fourth to have a good view. Close to the ocean,.
This is the absolute wonderful hotel located on Mission Bay beautiful views and quiet as all can be.
I met friends for lunch at the Oceana restaurant and truly enjoyed the views and atmosphere. Our meal was slow to arrive, which may have been due to the amount of large parties from post-graduation frivolity...the food was delightful nonetheless. The grounds are beautiful and the staff is kind and helpful.
Lousy parking lot. Food was okay, but not outstanding. Service was mediocre.
Great ambience and superb staff. Was treated to a complimentary evening ferry ride! Internet was spotty at the top floor and the room was a little old but it was spacious and had a fantastic view so no complaints.
Everything is awesome. The staff are nice and friendly. Give it a good one.
Needed to ask for to many things towels, coffee, pillows, blankets and toilet paper 4 ladies in a suite need extra items. Place was great and staff very friendly and helpful !
Wonderful place for a special occasion or just a spa weekend. Many amenities to choose from. The staff offer you a 4 star treatment. They have a wonderful restaurant overlooking the bay with delicious options. What really adds icing on the cake is during our stay we encountered down pours of rain, they offer umbrellas free of charge for you to go about town and still enjoy your stay. Highly recommend as we are sure to stay again when visiting pacific beach.
Spa here is great. Had a wedding here on the front lawn over the bay - it was magical. Lunch is meh. Beautiful little nooks for pics and a beautiful rock waterfall in the foyer
We were given a room that looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 1980's. The room smelled musty. The bathroom tile looked like it belonged in a hospital, and the bathroom light fixture was rusting. I understand the gym was closed due to COVID but why charge a full resort fee for facilities that are closed? The location was excellent. On Mission Bay and close to Pacific Beach. Other guests given a renovated room may have more positive opinions.
My husband and I met here 3 years ago. The Ambiance is romantic and the food is delicious
I was staying nearby and rented a 20 foot sail boat with some friends and family. Rental process was painless and was pretty cheap ($50/hr).
I host at annual event at Catamaran. We keep coming back to this venue because of the staff, the uniqueness of the property, and the location. This property has a really groovy Polynesian theme that people love, great access to a family-friendly bay-facing beach, and an ocean beach that young adults love. The two restaurants attached are great for folks who are into fine dining (not my thing, I'm a cheapskate), and the little coffee bar has standard coffee shop fare plus delicious fruit smoothies. Catamaran impressed me so much with our business events that it's now a regular vacation destination for my family too!
Great location on Mission beach by the Pacific Ocean. Hotel supplies free wooden deck chairs on the beach for use by public as well as hotel guests. Also free tickets for the Bahia Belle paddle steamer. Really well kept gardens and ponds filled with koi and ducks waddling around. Hotel rooms clean if tired decor. Very warm swimming pool and Jacuzzi. My only criticism is parking fee of $26 per day not disclosed by the hotel to my booking agent. This soon mounts up to a sizeable additional cost.
Just got back from a stay at the Catamaran and I'm so sad that we had to leave. I loved everything about it. I was a bit worried after reading some reviews about the rooms but the one we stayed in was just fine. We were 10th floor tower facing the bay and the view was beautiful. We ate at Oceana every morning for breakfast and the staff and food were great. The beach on the bay was so relaxing and just the overall feel of the hotel resort was beautiful.
Definitely will be going back!
We really loved the day spa pass. Absolutely beautiful facility with all the amenities. Highly recommended. Beautiful bay view from the hot tub or outside workout room
My only complaint: the parking deck cost almost as much as the day spa pass for one!
Very friendly staff but rooms in Tower are (too) old.
Great food, great drinks, great service, beautiful setting
Great customer service all the staff very friendly and helpful. Grounds were well manicured and maintained felt like we were on a resort in the Carribean. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Close to the ocean and mission bay is right behind the resort. Spa and fitness room well equipped with latest elliptical treadmills and bikes. Lots of weights never had to wait to use anything. They have a great restaurant food was fantastic. They also have a grab and go coffee snack shop on the premises. Can't wait to return will definately be staying with them again! Thanks for a great vacation
We've been staying here for years. However, the complete turnover of experienced staff for untrained staff was disappointing. The restaurant is still excellent.
great location and class hotel. we had our honeymoon here 46 years ago. hotel is on mission bay with ocean across the street.
Very tropical setting, Koi pond next to garden rooms, with ducks that will visit you on your private patio.
Well kept, nice staff, good food, awesome location.
The view from my aunt and uncle's room was beautiful.
This place exceeded my expectations, by far the best hotel I've been to. It's so tropical here and they have a jellyfish and bird exhibit. The customer service in the breakfast dining area was amazing as well. I would definitely come back. Keep in mind you have to pay $26. to park a night. It was pretty expensive to stay here but treat yo self.
The grounds of this resort are so beautiful. Absolutely stunning actually. But the facilities and rooms are outdated and worn. Service is great and everyone is so so friendly.
Really enjoyed my Mother's Day Brunch here. The food was fantastic, and the service was good. We also genuinely loved the added boat ride. My only request would be for a non-alcoholic brunch price.
The rooms are nice, but nothing special. The location, staff, lobby area, etc are what makes for a great visit. The hotel gives you easy access to both the bay and the beach and that's the biggest reason I'd stay here again
L
The grounds out outstanding at this hotel and truly worth it. The beach is very nice, but not great swimming since it is colder. The restaurant is very tasty and has a great view. Really my only thing that is lacking are the rooms. The rooms are very tired and they need an upgrade.
Awesome atmosphere in the outdoor bar seat section. The hotel lobby is really beautiful as well. Food was good, drinks were good!
Went just for the food. The view was stunning and the servers awesome. Loved the shrimp ceviche. Didn't really like the tomato sauce and sparse basil on the flatbread. There are lots of places inside and out to take unique, tropical/ vacationesque pictures.
