Hotel is worn and luau was a huge disappointment. Bad layout, and mediocre buffet. Show performers were okay but you couldn't see them from two-thirds of the seats. Bartenders didn't know any drinks apart from Mai Tais and service was otherwise nonexistent. They could do so much more but it doesn't feel like they care.

We only stayed a couple of days, but I liked the casual, laid back "feel" of the place. The rooms were nice, the decor could be updated. The staff was friendly and helpful. What I liked about the Catamaran Resort's location is it's on the "bay" side which is very nice and there are lots of water sports you can do! But just across the street is the beach (both are in Mission Beach just south of Pacific Beach.) Lots of shops, casual and formal dining and something for everyone. The price at this resort is reasonable, but maybe a little "high" for what I felt we got in the way of our room. I would recommend The Catamaran Resort to my friends, but the resort really could use some updating and remodeling. For this area in San Diego, at the beach and bay, there is a lot to choose from as far as hotels, resorts, vacation rentals, etc. go so check around and decide what's best for you and your family and friends.

The resort location cannot be beat and the view from our room was SPECTACULAR. However, I don't recommended eating at the Oceana Restaurant inside the resort as the food choices were extremely limited, overpriced, and while tasty, nothing to write home about. Almost everything is closed still due to the pandemic-- no sunset luaus (even though they were up on the website), the Jacuzzi, spa, and Bahia Belle boats, arcade etc. are all unavailable atm. However, you can rent kayaks and boats to take around the bay and enjoy the lounge area. We loved kayaking! And the private beach. The room we were in was quite outdated for the price (especially the bathroom), but very spacious & comfortable. I only wish there was a little table we could actually sit & eat at or a microwave. Otherwise La Jolla is fantastic and this is a beautiful resort. The best part of the trip was exploring the sea cliffs and eating at amazing local restaurants. Enjoy your vacay!

Laid Back, Low Key, Relaxing Resort in Mission Bay between Mission and Pacific Beach.. Good place for a weekend getaway or a family Vacation.. Only drawback is the area around this place is dirty with trash everywhere..

Very poor service at the outside bar. This is the second time we waited over 15 minutes to get someone to talk to us. We finally walled into the bar to get our drinks. But the drinks were good one we got them.

Our trip here was the worst. My wife left her key in the room and asked for a new key while I was out fishing. My wife had her ID and credit card that I used to pay for the room. They would not give her a key. The manager Sondra said her credit card was not the card used which was untrue. They even threatened my wife that they were going to evict her and my kids from the room while I was still out. I can t believe it, we visit San Diego very frequently and will not be staying here again. Save your money and stay at the Dana or Paradise point if you like service.

Restaurant is great but not worth preordering breakfast as it will not save you any money. The beach is great, clean and quiet with a pathway across Pacific Beach. Having beach chairs prepared is nice. The rooms need to be updated from the 1980s. The carpet is stained from sun exposure, the nighstand is propped up by a folded up notepad because the tower is no longer level resulting in the nightstand drawer not stay closed without something under it. The linens have stains (towels sheets and washcloths) and rips and desperately need bleaching. The staff was great, always greeted us and remained professional as could be. Little improvements would make a world of difference here

The hotel was in a great location. We had a water view room which was pretty breathtaking. The outside of the hotel was very nice. Their room needs a lot of updating. The light when you come in was not working it was out, the door to the bathroom would not close or open unless you really pushed it, and overall furniture was just outdated.

One thing that I really thought was great was the maid service. They were so attentive and would call me if we had the do not disturb sign just to assure we didn t need anything. I thought it was thoughtful.

Great resort!! Everything is beautiful, maintained and most importantly CLEAN! Walking distance to the beach and several different food options. I forgot to mention when making reservations ask for Suzy. She was beyond helpful In not only planning my stay but also things I should do while there. Your staff is amazing.

Hotel rooms itself are a little dated and in need of remodel, however the resorts was perfect for what we needed balcony view over looking the bay. Walking distance to the beach and many wonderful restaurants. We had the best time staying here and will never forget the bird sanctuary.

Stellar service and some of the best gardening I've ever seen. Brownie is to die for, and the oysters were top notch, delicious. Also have an in house parrot who entertains better than most people!

My wife and I split our trip to SD into 2 days here, two days downtown and 2 days at La Jolla. It was a great way to explore the city. I ran from different locations every morning, and then we explored what SD had to offer during the day. This location is probably the most central if you want to stay in one place, but we recommend moving around at least a bit. We used Uber to move around instead of renting a car and this worked out great.

We chose this property for the location. It is a very short walk to the beach and walkways that run along Mission Beach and Pacific Beach. You can walk directly out to the Bay side which I actually found more peaceful. The hotel provides chairs to the beach on the bay side. We ended up spending most of the time walking around Mission beach. Short car ride to Ocean beach where we spent a morning watching dogs at the very nice dog beach. Pacific beach area and restaurants have a strong spring break feel that didn't do much for us. The property itself is very pretty, the rooms are spacious enough, but the rooms are somewhat dated. Service was friendly (we received a cheese and cracker basket on our first day). We had breakfast at the property once. Food was fine, but very slow.

The Catamaran Resort Hotel was within walking distance to the beach and tons of places to eat at. The hotel I feel was very kid friendly for my 7 year old and our 21 month old toddler. They have an arcade that has free games for the kids to play and it is right by the pool that happens to be heated. Overall it is a fantastic place to take the kids!

It's right on Mission Bay with easy access by foot. All of the staff was excellent! They really showed pride in their service! Environment was tropical. Ducks and coy in the ponds along the walkways as well as a small tropical bird display. There is a jellyfish tank in one restaurant. Was there to check it and eat. Food was good. Would go back.

This is a great hotel and we've been coming almost every year. One of the coolest things about the entire experience was the free arcade for the kids. This year they are now charging for each game which was disappointing to discover. We will be checking out other hotels next year.

Me and my new wife came here for our honeymoon. We loved it. Our spa experience was first class. Cameron, one of the concierges did a good job finding stuff for us to do. Steve in the Moray bar was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. The only thing I wish is that we could have stayed a little longer.

The hotel is very well kept. The views are great. The staff is very attentive. Rooms were larger than I expected for this price hotel, which was a nice surprise.
The restaurant has a slightly limited selection, but everything was prepared really well. We were here during the off season but still enjoyed some live music at night. The selection of activities for both adults and kids looks great when it is in season.
This hotel is located on the bay which is much calmer than the ocean, both with the waves and just the general hubbub going by on the bay front walk. It is a very comfortable place to relax.
Get a bay front room the view is with it!

We've stayed here 3 times since 2014. My wife had an annual conference there and we usually add on a day or two. The pool and spa are both big and roomy. There's a free arcade. And there are running Brooks with coy and ducks. The back side of the resort is on Mission Bay with a pier from which you can rent sail boat, paddle boards, and other water equipment.
I look forward to sailing on the bay each time we go.

I would have rated them 5 start had there been better. Hotel and facility is brilliant and very family family, close to to the beach etc.
Staff at front desk is very bad, no consideration for any request. I had one of the worst experience when it comes to dealing with the hotel staff.

Originally we booked a studio with a king size bed, but they weren't able to accommodate us so we ended up with a studio with two queen size beds. The room was small, but decorated nicely, and the grounds were nice. No resort fee BUT they make up for it with their room service charges. Really look at the details before ordering anything. It was nice to have a studio, it came fully equipped with a larger than normal fridge, silverware, plates, cups, counter space, etc. The walls were very thin in the tower. We heard the pipes creaking, babies crying and people talking.

Myself and two of my friends stayed here over the weekend and all three of us said the same thing. "My room smells like mold!" I brought it to managements attention and they said "we'll look into it " So Monday morning I wake up and I'm sick. Be careful if the room has a funny smell to it, it's mold!

Very pretty hotel in certain places. It's very big, and seems like they have added on to it quite a bit. My room was very hard to find, and the room itself was not impressive. It's stuffy, and had a smell like stale water. The Catamaran staff was wonderful, and the meeting spaces are beautiful with amazing views.

Great place, pool & hot tub was clean, room was huge with kitchenette (no reason for us to book two next time) stove w/cookware, fridge, sink. Beach faces south into the bay, but sunset was within walking distance. Rented bicycles, nice pathways.

This hotel is in a good location but pricey, outdated, and services listed on website are non existent. I recently stayed there for a wedding and loved the location. Within walking distance of shopping, beach, and bay. However when I checked in I inquired as to their onsite laundry service as listed as an amenity on their website since I needed a dress steamed and not ironed. They provide no such service. A member of their staff was kind enough to help me locate my room when I could not find it in the dark and contact someone about my dress. I was told I would receive a call the next day. I received no such call. I took one shower but the bathroom was so disgusting I ended up using the sink to wash myself the remainder of my stay. Things were found under the bed and on the floor that are a testament to their lack of housekeeping. They don't even provide one bottle of water per person per day in a room includedin their 25.00 per day resort fee. The rate per day, at 27.00, to park a car is outrageous when you can locate other places that do provide free parking. Also, if you just park there to eat or drink they will comp you two hours of free parking but charge you 10.00 per hour after that. One can only hope they don't take long to get your food out and you don't eat slow like me. For what they charge to eat and drink there parking again should be complimentary. Look close and you will also see cushions in the lobby that are ripped. We did have a view from our balcony of the weddings taking place below but had to run inside one day as water dripped from above and we noticed a huge crack in the balcony above us. The plus are the many fish, turtles, ducks, and birds they have on the premises. When the birds were out and I would hear them squawking I would happily run over and tell them to use their "quiet voice". Apparently they don't really talk to most people except their trainer but I could get them to talk. My favorite was Chadwick in the gilded cage. When he's happy he will tug on his spoons and I loved getting him to dance. If you're out there be sure to visit him. If I could have brought him home I would have. The coffee shop is reasonable, restaurants expensive, gym included but the hot tub and sauna are extra. Skip their spa, boat and bike rentals. You can get better prices nearby. Also, don't be surprised by the amount of homeless people you will see. I received a nice response about my review from the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa. I would specifically like to address the issue of the dry cleaning service which they state is available with a 4 hour turnaround time and your expense. While I was aware this would have been at my expense the front desk did inform me they had no such service and I would have to take my dress off site myself.
