We always come to Vegas around Christmas time, and since having a kid we've opted to stay at hotels without a casino (avoid all the smoke) and with a kitchen or kitchenette. There are several Hilton properties like this, one on the strip next to Circus Circus which is not bad, and Elara which is behind Planet Hollywood which we've been staying at for the past few years, which is a very nice property and family friendly. But the prices have been going way up for Elara, so this year we opted to try the Signature at MGM Grand, which is just across the street from Elara.
The hotel: Very nice lobby, fast service, attached to the main MGM hotel with all the restaurants and casino games if you want to gamble. There is a restaurant/bar and a Starbucks next to the lobby, as well as a small convenience store and the fitness center.
The room: The one bedroom suite was clean and nicely furnished, with a balcony that let's in fresh air, although it may be dangerous if you have kids that likes to climb. The kitchen is modern with high end appliances and full sized fridge. The master bathroom is huge, with a jetted tub, separate shower, and a water closet (nice!). As a bonus there is a shower in the outside bathroom. The living room was on the small side, definitely smaller than Elara. We got a room with a view of the airport, but noise was not an issue.
Advantages over other hotels was that it's behind gates, and it's valet parking only. Since most hotels are now charging $17+/night for parking, I would much rather pay an working person tip to park and retrieve my car rather than paying to park myself.
We stayed four nights and it was an enjoyable experience. The room was quiet and we felt relaxed. Definitely recommended for families.
