The Scottsdale Plaza Resort Reviews

We would not come back, this resort needs breakfast buffet. They don t have it all, the only option they have is restaurant with very expensive a la cart menu. Even coffee is not included in that price.

Nice and cozy for a quick getaway or even a business conference

The restaurants, lobby, conference center and guest houses/rooms are beautifully decorated. Receptionist was a charming young man that exuded customer service and sincere kindness. Tracy in the restaurant was able to manage influx of conference guest in the allotted time. Trifecta with, Great service and a radiant personality. Shuttle driver and guestroom golf trolley driver were friendly and efficient. Housekeeping staff was friendly and effiecent. The human resource department should be recognized for hiring quality and valuable employees.

Great place except house keeping showed up twice in our 5 day stay. We'll be back but expect better.

The place is beautiful, the staff is super sweet and the gentleman that checked us in had a great sense of humor with us. We stayed for a conference there and enjoyed the rooms being so close so we could comfortably sneak away for a coffee or potty break. The grounds were very well kept and the spa looks like a place in definitely trying out next time. They have tennis courts that people were practicing on, great little mini malls across the way with some fun food options. They even let us ride in the golf cart to take us to our room, which was unnecessary since we were close to everything, but it was a fun excursion anyway.

I've stayed here several times in the last 6 months or so, traveling for work. I really like the property. The rooms are in great shape, the entire property is very well kept and the staff is wonderful. Will continue to stay here when I'm in town.

The hospitality at check in was above average and pleasantly refreshing. Pools and grounds are clean and well maintained.

Great experience. The resort was not too crowded which allowed us free reign of the pool and courts. Beautiful dessert-scape and Adobe design and not too pricy. Made for a great overnight getaway.

Excellent service for food and drink at the socially distanced tables. Great relaxing ambiance and live music.

The resort has beautiful, extensive grounds; the staff is friendly, helpful and professional; the food at the restaurant was excellent; and the the suite was immaculate and spacious. I definitely want to come back!

Friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere, clean comfortable room

We had a few issues with room service and housekeeping but they totally took care of all the issues and went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. The two story villas are pretty cozy and the live music at the bar was a nice addition.

I didn't stay here as an overnight guest but attended part of a conference, and what I saw of the facilities was clean and great, there's a pool that people were enjoying (in the middle of winter, but then it's Phoenix), and everything at the conference went smoothly (AV equipment, etc, was great).

Large, modernly updated room features. Staff was courteous and helpful with questions and offered additional services to my questions.

Was here for a conference, but if looking for s resort hotel this would be right up there. Great staff, beautiful facilities. The pool is great and they have the largest hot tub in Arizona. Not sure why you'd need a hot tub in Arizona!

Visited for a work conference and everything was great.

I was on site for three days, Thursday Night through Sunday morning. Staff was mildly friendly, as if forced to be. The restaurants and bars had great service and the food was average. Upon checkout I was charged and additional maid service fee on top of the room rate and the resort fee. Keep your eyes on the bill upon checkout.

Was beautiful and very big. Heated pool. Lots of conference rooms. Could better regulate cooling in them though.

I should add that I didn't actually stay in the resort as it was booked. I was just there for a 3 day conference. I had seen inside one room on the main floor.

Visited a friend staying in the villas, very nice accommodations the location was great, resort was slightly difficult to navigate on foot.

Great rooms, pool, and staff. Very friendly front desk, cleaning crew and gardeners. The grounds are beautiful with dozens of different desert plant types along the paths, many of them labeled for the curious. The main pool area is the star of this resort with tiered pools connected via a waterfall, massive jacuzzi hot tub and poolside bar complete with music and cocktail servers. Direct view of Camelback Mountain and in the heart of ritzy Paradise Valley. The only cons we had were there was no complimentary breakfast and the restaurant where breakfast was served had lacklustre service and food for the money. Also the margaritas from the main bar were pretty awful. Beautiful resort though.

The room itself was great. Window darkening curtains, plenty of seating, clean, comfortable.
We ate at the hotel restaurant. The pizza was amazing. The service not so much. Long wait to be served, long wait to get refills on drinks, long wait to pay and be able to leave.
Our room also ran out of toilet paper. I called and said we were almost out. Nothing for 45 mins. I called back uh we are out out. There was no extra roll in the room. Just the one on the holder. I understand it's covid and you don't want people stealing it. Then. Bring it when I say we are almost out and have another day to stay with your hotel. After 45 mins I called to say we were out. 20 mins later they brought some. Pool was beautiful and the water perfect temp.

So this is a pretty hotel but the service is pretty bad. I joined my husband here at the end of his work trip and the first thing we ordered at the restaurant I had asked for no chipotle mayo and said I have a pepper allergy. They ignored it for the first order then the second order had a different new spicy sauce all over the fish then they said We just can t make that without the spice it s mixed in- which made no sense it was ahi tuna on guacamole. It definitely was clear they didn t want to make it a 3rd time. So we left since my whole table was done eating. And then in the morning I had a massage scheduled for 9. I worked around what they had avail had made the reservation in advance and when I got there they had lost the reservation. They did offer 50% off the massage at a later date but since we were leaving the hotel in 2 hrs that wasn t super helpful.it just felt like this hotel was disorganized and not run well and it was a disappointment.

Had an event outside, and the grounds were beautiful. Actually thinking about changing my wedding venue now to the Plaza. Fantastic service and well priced.

We are enjoying it here. Room is nice, grounds are immaculate, great location. Excellent customer service! Use of the shuttle is so great. Rooms remodeled and comfortable. Not edgy and hip, comfortable and safe!

Great place to eat everyone was very friendly. The waiter,waitress were exceptionally wonderful.

Amazing location for a staycation or date night. The pool area is fantastic, with large heated pools and a great hot tub. The room we had (King Suite) had a separate sitting area and small kitchen and bedroom. The walk in shower is big enough for 3 people. We would definitely stay here again.

Awesome resort. This is my 13th year coming back for an annual conference, and couldn't think of a better place. The staff is friendly, service is outstanding, and the food is heavenly! Rooms are spacious and clean, TV's are new, WiFi is fast, with good coverage across the whole resort.

This is a great place. My only complaint .... they want $20 for a microwave - the rooms do not have them.... :(

We loved this resort. Can't fault anything. They had all bases well covered. All staff were super friendly. Resort was super clean, well maintained, well laid out. We're already considering booking our next trip over for longer next time as this was part of a multi city 2 week trip.

I'm still trying to figure out how your "Resort" differs from, say, a La Quinta?! And, how you can justify a 15% markup to your quoted room rate for basic/standard ameninities and call it a "Resort Fee"?! Breakdown of charges per night (Pricing is example): Room Charge: $99.00 Room Tax: $13 RESORT FEE: (apparently based on Sq.Ft. of room, ours was no bigger than any other room anywhere else): $22.00 Room Tax: (Found out that this is a tax on the Resort Fee!) $3 Total for -one night-: $137 (and in my road-weary desperation, I signed up for 2 nights.. UGH!) For reference, this is MORE than what I paid, in one night, than I did for Two nights (Friday & Saturday) with (2) Queen Beds in a room of near exactly the same size, cleanliness, shower and room style at a La Quinta (I can only imagine what it was like before as apparently I had one of the Remodeled Suites!). Don't bother calling the front desk with complaints of random knocks, pounding and partying (I just assume my call to the desk was blown off!). Word of Advice, don't touch the items in the courtesy (snack) basket! The prices on the list are reasonable, but FALSE! The charges that appear LATER differ WILDLY from what is advertised! (In one case, DOUBLE!) After calling to have my charges faxed and an explanation the details, I had to go back and listen to the recording of my conversation with the young miss at the Hotel a couple of times to ensure I heard her right. "The Resort Fee is for use of on-site parking, access to wifi, use of pools and fitness center" ...........Wait... What?! I'm going to use a couple of examples from our trip here, so you can Side-by-Side as you plan your trip. I'll never go back to SPR!! Don't bother with these jokers.. they're just winging it until they sell out as an apartment complex.

Stayed for four nights. Had WIFI issues in the two story room At arrival and contacted front desk who put In a ticket for service. No resolution, no attempt to move location, as medical providers was tough to do work during these times. Will not return here.

I would not recommend using their banquet facilities.
I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner on May 3rd, 2019.
The food was just almost unfit for consumption.
I do not know what the hosts paid but it was too much. Food had a sour taste and extremely dry, etc. I, at first, thought it was my taste buds or just my plate but I noticed other people grimacing and discussions after dinner confirmed my feelings.

I stayed here for two nights to attend a conference held at the resort. The grounds and rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and the service was impeccable.

Absolutely love the Plaza. It is such a peaceful place with excellent service.

We read other reviews after picking this place, and were prepared for the worst. We reserved for the summer get away deal. The room was clean and very spacious, comfortable for two adults and two kids. The pool was clean and not too crowded, and very refreshing in the summer heat. We enjoyed a good game of racquetball, too. My chief complaint was that many staff members seemed uneducated about the resort and were often unable to answer simple questions, like how many racquetball courts are there and how much is the breakfast buffet.

We were there for an event in the ballroom. The staff were nice and helpful. From what we saw walking around, the pool looks fun!

I normally do nt write review but this place made me so angry and frustrated that I have to write this, let people to know or be a wear of this place. My wife and my self for a first time going to Arizona for a one week vacation and we booked this hotel one month in advance because after seeing some good review about the place, our experience started with the hotel and reservation from front desk stuff by receiving an email while we were on the way to airport basically they cancel our booking and room for no reason in same day of arrival, imagine! After calling them we found, they have an issue with credit card authorization, after few phone call they said all ok and our reservation confirmed, after arriving to the hotel, again we had the same an issue with the card and for no reason they cancel then authorized the card, after few minute they confirmed the reservation, basically our bank assumed that it s fraud transaction and it s fraud place using our card details by Unprofessional people at the front desk every 5 min. We suppose to stay at this place for 3 nights but after passing all tension, and horrible experience at the front desk while we got in to swimming pool, they started charging our card for every 10$, stuff were coming to us at the pool and saying manager says we have to pay for 10$, 27$, 49$ every 30 min, this happen to us for the first time in our 39 years of living and traveling around the world, and usually you pay your final bill at the time of check out, we asked pool stuff that we d like talk the manager at the pool but they ignored us and asking to go to them at the front desk, there is person with Name of Abby at the front desk, she was really unprofessional, start ignoring our explanation, she was not listing to us at all and looking at her computer screen and she just wanted to charge us every 30 min, she said this is our hotel policy, we never seen in our life any hotel charge you anything every 30 min, after no receiving any solution from the stuff we decided to leave the hotel and cancel the rest of 2 our nights at this place, very bad experience , fraud place, not welcoming, horrible hospitality, rude stuff and frustrating place to be. I am not sure if other review here are real but I do nt consider this place to anyone at all.

Worlds biggest super8? Seriously, drain plug broken, one sink not working, towel with holes in it, ac vents full of mold... How does this page get anything other than 1 star reviews?

Stayed here right after getting married and had a horrible experience. Long line of cars parked out front of the lobby late at night which was super annoying considering there was only one other group checking in. Anyway, attractive group of girls ahead of me in line had the front desk attendant taking his sweet time as he drooled all over himself. When it was finally my turn, had a hell of a time checking in because it had been booked in our name but not with one of our credit cards. Even though I had all of our IDs and credit cards he insisted both my bride and I be present to check in and I told him that was not going to happen because I wasn't going to walk to the end of the line of cars and then parade her through the lobby in her wedding dress. It was bad enough I was having to do this in my tux. After a lot of arguing and twelve minutes more than it should have taken, we got our keys and drove to our suite in the back of the property. There was a dirty rag from house keeping in front of our door and we were immediately greeted in the bathroom by a cockroach. No joke. Lovely, anyway the ONLY redeeming part or the night and why it got 2 stars instead of 1, was room service. Good food and it came quick. Anyway, a horrible experience and if you are considering staying here for something special, DON'T. Look elsewhere.

What a Great Place for a weekend getaway. Service was great and so was the food. Enjoyed the pool, with poolside drink service.

Clean, friendly, and theres always something happening

This place was soooo overpriced and over rated. We've stayed in numerous resorts and this is NOT a resort. Security at this place is a joke. First night of our stay arguing couple, peeling out, door slamming. Nothing was done. Second night extremely loud music, called front desk, sent "security" over and since the walls are paper thin at this establishment we could hear the fact that he got the door slammed in his face 1.2 seconds later. Still played music but not as loud. Slipped in the bathtub, so I called to get a second towel for the inside of the tub that I never got but since they didn't seem very worried about me falling I figured that's why I didn't get it. No laundry service. Rooms are super small. I feel very taken advantage of. If you have children I definitely would not stay here, because according to them this is a resort for older more mid age people and that is who they cater to.

Did a staycation here while my sisters came to visit. I was very happy with my stay. Great resort love the fact pool is 24hr. Rooms always clean nice smells. Very quiet area. Would definitely be coming back on the regular basis. Very comfy for price.

I stayed there for a 5 days conference. Rooms are comfortable and facilities see great. Food was fine on the first day, but got worse and worse during the stay.

The resort is excellent! The rooms are clean, the beds are soft, and the staff it's top notch! Also it is very close to the Old Town Scottsdale and Scottsdale fashion square.

Had company meeting in one of the rooms. We had about 150 people. The ball room we we're in this year was a little tight for that many people, but it worked. Also had breakfast brought in that was pretty good.

Excellent first day here. Hung out at the pool and had great food and drinks. Room is clean and spacious.
