One of the best productions I've ever seen! The acting, singing and location were phenomenal. It was definitely worth the visit. I saw the same opera in another city and it wasn't nearly as powerful. My sister and I tailgated an it was very fun! The crowd was diverse and interesting, which made it so much more laid back and enjoyable. I truly had an amazing time from beginning to end. I'd love to return soon!

We did a trip to Santa Fe just to visit this opera house and see 3 performances in late August (Candide, Madam Butterfly and Ariadne auf Naxos). Really nice venue right off the highway 84, which is about a 6-10min drive from town. I thought the staff wearing the ponchos was a nice surprise. Gender neutral restrooms are available in the food court area and in the common areas were very nice to see. Parking is good, as well as being free, but getting out at the end of the performance was a bit unorganized. The seating is very comfortable with plenty of leg room. For an outdoor venue, the seating areas are covered from the weather, but many of the common corridors and stairwells are not. I highly recommend a jacket and some type of rain protection (if rain is in the forecast), because it can get chilly after the sunset. If you get a chance, take the backstage tour offered in the mornings. Also; Try to do one of the pre-talk sessions (6pm and 7pm), because they will give you an idea of what is going on during the show.

Absolutely the BEST Opera in the country!! (Maybe the world). Open air stage makes ALL the difference. Fresh air flow keeps that grandma perfume from making you sneeze, chill relaxed atmosphere beats stuffy usual theatres, and the performances, oh WOW! Out of this world. World class :)

Nestled on a hill overlooking a lovely landscape, this gem is a relaxing experience to say the least. Their staff is very passionate about their craft(s) and very willing to share their enthusiasm with you. There are regular scenic tours of the grounds that are well worth your time.

We attended a concert at the end of Sept. The building and setting is just beautiful. The sides of the auditorium are open and the back is enclosed. We sat in the center of the last row of the mezzanine. We were very comfortable and not at all cold despite it being a windy night. We will definitely return!

Behind the stage tour was great. I am not big on operas, but the hour-long tour was very insightful and very educational. Highly recommended. Too bad photography is not allowed ... but the work it takes to make a costume is unbelievable. Also, for every singer on stage there are approx 61 people behind the scenes (from ticket sales costume designers to stage hands) to put on a show.

Absolutely stunning location, beautiful architecture and fantastic staging. I saw Madame butterfly during sunset and it was breathtaking. Couldn't recommend it more, even if you are not an opera lover.

Great 1st opera experience! Love the outdoor design and architecture. Pre show presentation was excellent, super helpful and engaged staff. Loved the concept of taking the opera and making it relivant to today's time line. Music and vocals were amazing in my opinion but this was my 1st opera. Highly recommend going and having a tailgate dinner prior!

As the guest of my cousin, Dr. Daniel Fallon and (Mrs.) Christine Fallon, I was privileged to attend "Cold Mountain" on my first visit to Santa Fe and your legendary Opera. The lovely dinner before the performance and thrilling standing ovation afterward framed an unforgettable journey into the passion, courage, love and futile horror of war. Five stars cannot express the power and beauty The Santa Fe Opera offers so generously.

The opera site is easily accessible via 285 with plenty of free onsite parking. The venue itself offers three levels of comfortable seating, all of which have good to great views of the stage. It is a great place to see opera and/or other music acts. If you want to leave early, it is easy to leave the venue and the parking lots. If not, it can take up to 15 minutes. Best to park in a manner that allows you to exit your parking space going forward.

The Santa Fe opera is the most amazing venue in the world. No matter which opera you see, there is something extra you get from being outside in the beauty of the Sangre de Cristos at the beginning of the Rocky Mountains. Be prepared for high altitude. At over 1000 feet higher than Denver (mile high). It is important to stay hydrated. Also bring a light jacket in case you feel cold. Temperatures are typically 20-40 degrees Fahrenheit than during the day. This is a bucket list experience!
