Did not know this place existed. It is phenomenal. Lot of walking but a great place to view art in many forms. Hats off to the designers and creators of this marvelous place. This will be a part of every trip I make to LA from now on.

Great art -- but very difficult to get to. The art and the museum itself are beautiful and there is a botanical garden and nice city views from the mountaintop location, but the only access is by way of their private tram, so you cannot walk to the entrance directly. The parking lot down below is way too small for the size of the place and the number of people trying to get in. It's also basically only accessible by a very crowded side street next to the 405 highway which is almost always packed. Also you cannot bring in your own food and the cafe inside there has very below average food, yet high prices.

This museum is just amazing. The large collection of paintings, sculptures and decorative items will definitely be worth it for an art lover. The garden is also beautiful, so you can relax all you want. Did I already mention that it's FREE?

A google review cannot adequately capture the formidable Getty Center. It's free to all visitors, it will only cost you the ~$15 for parking in their structure. Pack a picnic and enjoy it on the lawn with scenic vistas of the coastline. I recommend arriving early, because you could spend all day here. I estimate it would take at least 5 hours to view and appreciate the various forms of art in every gallery (of which there are many!). The Getty Center offers guided tours on a variety of topics (architecture, gardens, art, etc.) More info available on their website. Must see!

A must-do if you are visiting LA and a fan of arts, architecture and history. The center offers a wide collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and even furniture dating from centuries ago. The city view from the Center is astonishing ! The visit is free of charge, but you should know that parking costs 15$ and even though parking and the waiting line to catch the tram to the center can take a while, the center itself is not that crowded because of its size.

The Getty Villa is beautiful. It's definitely my choice compared to the Getty Center. The Villa contains beautiful gardens and amazing artworks. The ocean view from the balcony on a clear day is unbeatable.

There is no admission fee for either of the Getty but you have to pay a $15 parking charge. If you visit both the Getty Center and the Villa in one day, I was told that you only have to pay for parking just once.

I would recommend one of the guided tours if it's your first time. They also have a little room on the first floor of the villa that shows the history of J Paul Getty and how the villa and art collections came about. It plays periodically throughout the day.

The collection is vast but the best thing there is a real mummy. I have never seen a real mummy before so it's really amazing. There are a lot of Roman sculptures and painting. The central garden is definitely the highlight. You get a sense of how a Roman feels walking through their home during their golden age.

This place is definitely worth a visit. You'll walk around a lot so wear comfortable shoes. Bring your friends or family so it's worth the parking price.

The J. Paul Getty Museum, commonly referred to as the Getty, is an art museum in California housed on two campuses: the Getty Center and Getty Villa. The two locations received over two million visitors in 2016.

The primary museum, the Getty Center, is located in Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, on a hill top above the west side of the Sepulveda Pass and I-405 freeway. Its collection features Western art from the Middle Ages to the present.

The secondary museum, the Getty Villa, is in the Malibu neighborhood and displays art from Ancient Greece, Rome, and Etruria

This fantastic museum on the highest hill overlooking greater Los Angeles, is free to visit . Although there is a parking fee of $15-&20 , it is all covered parking. A tram carries visitors up to the large museum complex , where you can obtain iPods free of charge for a self guided tour if desired. Peaceful place with wonderful panoramic views of the Los Angeles area.

Emaculately well cared grounds with a beautiful view of the city, the Getty center is an amazing place to experience the art and culture available in the otherwise busy city. It's distance above everything reminds us to elevate the art there to that seen at the V & A, or Louvre. We especially loved sitting on the lawn looking out over the city this summer when a jazz band was performing there, I'm not sure how often that occurs though.

This is a beautiful place. Amazing art is on display everywhere. If you are done admiring the art you can relax on their grounds. They have lots of tours with knowledgeable docents as well.

I'm ot sure what was more impressive, the architecture of the museum itself or the exhibits contained within ... not to mention the beautiful vistas of the city. There is plenty of great art from any of the classic periods. And best of all the museum, the self-guided headphones sets and the volunteer-led tours were free. he quantity of art may not compare in volume to the great museums of the world, but the overall experience was first class.

The place is extraordinary. You are introduce to the museum with this huge entrance building that seems to be made of some metal painted in beige. The floor is marble where ever you go and the rest of the courtyard has wide and has not obstacle for your view. The art in this place is so amazing, we were present with artwork from the renaissance, Rembrandt pieces, Van Gogh and others. They provide self guiding tour devices so you can get the information even when you weren't able to catch any tour or you want to explore on your own. They also have this area I'm where you can try your hand at drawing. They supply you with the paper and the graphite. The scenery is majestic you can see la or the Santa Monica mountains in its more natural angles. In conclusion the place call for you to visit and enjoy it.

A beautiful museum! The atmosphere of Getty center is very good. The park and building there are nice to spend time! I could stay all day if I had time in LA. It was an unforgettable experience!

The entire place is a true work of art. The museum, while located far from the main city, is a picturesque location. The gardens are a real sight to see. Free admission was wonderful as well. Definitely a must see for a true immersion into other cultures and religions.

My wife and I had a fantastic experience here last week - the grounds are so beautifully manicured and the staff is amazing. If you have any questions or get lost (which we did) the staff seems eager to help and make your visit a positive one.

Best of all, it's free! I mean, you pay for parking, but it's about the best value in all of Los Angeles. It's also enormous, so if you're looking for a way to get your steps in and appreciate art, I highly recommend the experience :)

The place is really nice (nice view and landscape). you can spend like couple of hours with your significant other, chill while drinking a cup of coffee.
It is a very organized place and you can actually do a tour.

This is an art gallery. Was designed as one and Getty has actually never seen it. There is an access for stroller, cafe and two beautiful gardens. This museum also has some rooms devoted to modern art. Parking is on site.

We went to this place because of a recommendation from a friend.

It was absolutely worthwhile to spend the afternoon there. After 3 pm the parking fee was just 15 bucks. (Throughout the day its 20 I think)
Then you take a ride in a tram where you already have a perfect view over some parts of LA and the famous 405 highway. You arrive in the middle of some arty building's and parks. Even if you are not so much interested in world famous art you get rewarded with beautiful views over the city and nature parks where you can enjoy the sun and your life.

After a few hours the center got closed so it was very busy at the tram. Everyone wanted to go down. We decided to walk back to the car. There is a nice paved road where you can walk. It took maybe 15 min to get back to the car.

Except to the parking fee, there is no entrance fee. Very generous.

If you haven't gone there, why in the world not? World-class art, world-class architecture, beautiful gardens, and the best admission price in town. Great place for people watching too.

One of my favorite places in the world. There is just so much beauty here - the gardens, the galleries, the fountains and sculptures everywhere. I try to take a different tour each time that I come here.

One small but very nice touch is a secure charging station across from the checkroom. Lockable cubicles with every kind of cable let you charge your phone or (small) tablet while you wander the museum. No fee - just another service of this already free-admission luxury.

The Getty Museum is fantastic. The Monet is my favorite. The art classes are amazing for kids and adults alike. The Getty is so well endowed that the current collections are increasing at a incredible rate with purchases coming from all over the globe. If you don't see another museum in Los Angeles, visit "The Getty!"

Absolutely grand. An example of wealth used for the greater good. I took the bus and got off right there. I entered the property and took a free tram to the top, to the grounds.

It could sists of many building, gardens, galleries, views, an outside food stand, a cafeteria, and a restaurant (It featured an artist I love, Alexis Smith. I saw her work in the 1970's in Chicago.) I saw a small small gift shop with books and some smaller items.
