I have been coming here for 20 some years, it is incredible. I do not take for granted that this is one of the greatest wonders of museums, it is completely free (except food), and just extraordinary. Frank the security guy said I spoke too loud, but otherwise it was a great experience. Frank was a bit odd since there were hundreds of people walking through the exhibits. Maybe I am too loud?

If you're into art and architecture then don't miss this place. The grounds and collection are extensive so allow a few hours to see everything. The garden is beautiful and the views are pretty special too. On-site parking or ride share and then catch the complimentary tram to the center. The most amazing thing? It's free.

We have traveled to Santa Monica to visit the Getty, Villa and Center, ever since they opened. The visual beauty of the architecture is reason enough to make the trip. Get the audio guide and immerse your self in the special and permanent collections.

The collections are alright, but the views and the building are spectacular. I personally preferred to walk there rather than using the tram, which was cool, and I suggest you plan to be there at sunset which makes the views even better.

Outstanding museum and site. You need at least 4 hours to see a good amount of the museum, but you can easily spend more. The French furniture is super. The art collection is not to be missed. The architecture fascinating.

Beautiful museum and it's free. A must see for the architecture alone. I took off one star as I found a few of the guards very rude and abrupt. The volunteers were all lively and very helpful. The cafeteria has great selection and food.

For those of you that like real art (e.g. not Andy Warhol or Jackson Pollock), this is the place to go. This whole museum is full of 1500's-1900's European art, or as I like to call it, "the nice things the U.S. troops found while liberating Europe in World War 2." Do NOT underestimate the size of this museum. I move fast in art museums compared to others and it still took me about 2.5 hours to get through everything.

Such a amazing place for spending the day and looking at the city. Only thing the food is VERY pricey. Family prices for individual portions. Besides that the area is amzing and clean and well displayed.

I have been wanting to come here for several years and finally made it down from the Bay Area. Absolutely made my trip! Gorgeous space with stunning views. Didn't actually spend much time inside because I couldn't pull myself away from the gardens and fountains! Can make it a completely free visit by parking on the street nearby and walking to the tram (only payment is for parking).

The Getty Center offers an expansive, world-class museum experience in the heart of Los Angeles. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city for breathtaking views, incredible art and live music.

This is a perfect place to bring friends from out of town or for a local staycation. It offers incredible panoramic views of Los Angeles, including the Pacific Ocean.

The entire museum is impeccably well-managed and maintained. Art lovers and enthusiasts will be impressed by the expansive collection of world art.

Pro Tip:
- Watch The Getty video in the Lobby to learn more about its' history and collections
- Wear comfortable shoes
- Use one of their free umbrellas if it's super sunny

The Getty Center is pretty great. Definitely do a free architecture tour to get a bit more understanding the design of the Getty Center, pretty informative. Although me and my girlfriend didn't enjoy the Garden tour as much due to the docent being pretty monotone in his presentation (although we loved the garden itself). It is great that they do many exhibitions throughout the year. The one I happen to see was Queen Victoria and her fascination with photography. The employees were nice and helpful and the cafe is a delight. If you're not a museum buff (like my girlfriend) it is still a great experience, at least to take some great photos.

Crowded on weekends but that's because it's where Los Angeles keeps most of it's Awesome! The art is, if course, the star of the show. But the building, views, and restaurant are noteworthy destinations unto themselves.

What a gorgeous (and FREE!) museum.

What a gorgeous (and FREE!) museum.

Please give yourself enough time to explore the many halls of the museum and many exhibits The Getty has to offer.

Parking is available onsite (for a fee), and the train will take you up the hill to the entry. We got a little turned around and lost, and somehow ended up inside the museum, without realizing it, as we hadn t passed any formal security line/ticket booth/box office. Not sure if that is typical, or not...

The exiting process also takes time, so please be sure to allow for that as well. Since one arrives via train, one leaves via train. Since we left at the end with many others, we had to also wait in queue with them as well. One patron attempted to cut in-line, and the security gave her a slick and subtle embarrassment by simply asking: Miss, did you wait your turn, like everyone else...?

It was quite a read, and had Lil Missy stumbling for an excuse, oh, I was just... uh...

Of course, if you re on borrowed time, rush to see the Rembrandt s. I certainly fell in LOVE with the royal furniture collection!

I ll post a few photos and videos here.

Enjoy!
