The Getty Villa is beautiful. It's definitely my choice compared to the Getty Center. The Villa contains beautiful gardens and amazing artworks. The ocean view from the balcony on a clear day is unbeatable.

There is no admission fee for either of the Getty but you have to pay a $15 parking charge. If you visit both the Getty Center and the Villa in one day, I was told that you only have to pay for parking just once.

I would recommend one of the guided tours if it's your first time. They also have a little room on the first floor of the villa that shows the history of J Paul Getty and how the villa and art collections came about. It plays periodically throughout the day.

The collection is vast but the best thing there is a real mummy. I have never seen a real mummy before so it's really amazing. There are a lot of Roman sculptures and painting. The central garden is definitely the highlight. You get a sense of how a Roman feels walking through their home during their golden age.

This place is definitely worth a visit. You'll walk around a lot so wear comfortable shoes. Bring your friends or family so it's worth the parking price.
