We cannot resist to come back here every time we are close by. The displays and exhibitions are amazing, and the place is very clean. The food is a little overpriced though, but main admission is free.

Los Angeles west side great free museum, charge $15 for parking, try to car pool or van pool to save money. Even you don't like to visit the museum, the all site is like a park, you can enjoy the city view and the beautiful gardens, relaxing and picnic in the lawn or garden.
The Getty is a great model to follow as to how to run a museum. The main focus is for you to enjoy the art and environment and less on getting into your pockets. This place is innovative and follows the right principles to run an excellent center!
Absolutely beautiful and worth the trip. Parking and shuttle to center was pretty slow on a busy Sunday but that s to be expected. Grounds are immaculate and art exhibits are amazing. Views are pretty awesome as well. Definitely worth a half day trip.
Every time I visit the Getty I remember why I love LA. Who says LA has no culture? I beg to differ. To see the depth the city has to offer, one must go to the Getty. Both the center and the villa offer great insights to art history. Wonderful docents. Great permanent and traveling exhibits. If one just goes to see the view, the visit is already well worth the time.
Get on the hill by tram to the museum is a great experience. Great collections. Very beautiful architecture and beautiful scenery. I like the plants here and feel relaxed.
AMAZING museum with so much to see, I don't think I even got to it all! Includes Getty's collection of sculptures, paintings, French and furniture. It was my first time going and I throughly enjoyed every second. I can't wait to go back someday!
I go to museums all over the world and without a doubt the Getty was the best one I have ever been to. Couldn't stop thinking about all the exhibits and best of all the tours and entry are free!
At the Getty Center, it's nice to come just for a lovely weekend. You don't have to be a tourist. There is so much beautiful art here, and you can eat good food while you're enjoying the atmosphere. Whenever there's something new going on, I always go see that, but I'll never miss the classics that are here all the time. Each time I come, I notice something new and the experience just doesn't ever get old. It's not just for tourists, like I said.
One of my absolute favorite museums. Exyremely crowded, do yourself a favor and walk instead of taking the tram - ask security and you can skip the line. The tram and gallery is free, but the parking is around $15. The exhibits are only half the experience. Take time to tour the outside and enjoy the full experience and architecture. This museum is extremely large relative to more common museums, but is on par with the top museums of the world. Take your time, this is not a one day museum, its not even a onr week museum. I recommend, as with any gallery, do a bit of research beforehand and have a plan to really see what you can.
It can get really crowded and finding parking at the museum is hectic. After they closed the parking lot just a few minutes after opening we decided to drive about 7 minutes away and park in a neighborhood and take a $5 uber ride back to the museum. Even if the museum parking lot is full they will allow uber drop offs.
A beautiful museum with an equally beautiful garden. The art on display is fantastic! Great place to spend a few hours just getting lost in it all. Admission is free, parking is $15, just get there early.
I've been to The Getty twice so far, both times in the afternoon. Once however was during Christmas week which I DO NOT recommend. We waited for almost an hour just to park and at least another half hour in the bag check line. That aside, there's a lot to see here. So take your time and be sure to check out the amazing views! If you get hungry, there's a cafe and a coffee cart in the courtyard. The wind is pretty strong on the hilltop, definitely bring a jacket during the winter.
Nice architecture, displays are ok, art is very good but I am not someone who is drawn to old art so... Would love to see a full exhibition on how they built the Getty ect.. that would be great.
Hard to describe the beauty of this place, you need at least 2 days to see everything. It's a must see, for those who admire art. The view of LA alone makes it worth the trip! I also love how they have vegan options in the cafeteria!
The Getty Center is an absolute stunning museum, the architecture on campus is sleek and modern. The exhibits at The Getty range from paintings and sculptures to gardens and beautiful views of L.A. Family friendly atmosphere with lots to do, parking is average priced for L.A and there is a free tram that take you to the top of the hill. If you pay for parking at the Getty Center or Getty Villa you get to go to the other for free, make sure to keep your ticket. Overall positive experience, staff is friendly and if you have the time I would suggest to learn about Getty himself, there are plenty of documentaries/movies to keep you interested.
The Getty is always a fun place to visit. Regardless of the designated artist, the view, Tram and the Garden is always eye pleasing. Parking may be rough I'd suggest park on the public parking across from The Gettys parking to save you 5 dollars.
Love, love, going on school field trips to The Getty Gardens! Every time I bring students, they are wowed and amazed by the beauty and size of the gardens. They love walking the paths and can't stop talking about them on their bus ride home. All kids should experience such a beautiful place!
In a location that overlooks the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas, The J. Paul Getty Center and Museum offer a wonderfully relaxing break from the busy city below. I have been to The Getty several dozen times and the reason is simple: I can finally breathe when I am up there! Beyond the fact that it is high above the smog-filled 405 freeway immediately adjacent, and beyond the beautiful hill-side scenery on all sides--The Getty practically sits upon a cloud and I have often described it as "heaven." You can have a picnic, drink a cocktail, sip on a freshly brewed latte or dine in one of their fancy restaurants as well as see priceless works of art, provocative photography and amazing sculptures. Every time I go to The Getty I see or discover something new. And, I always look forward to going again. Try to go on a clear day when the views are the most breath-taking. All you have to pay for is parking ($15), admission to the museum is free. Do yourself a favor and go as soon as you can. It is most certainly worth it.
Amazing displays of art. Surrounding views are top notch. You can easily skip the whole Griffith Observatory and just visit the Getty for the views and exhibits. Maybe you don't have time for the Griffith. This will fulfill your LA overlook and skyline needs. The garden is cool too. Also try the cafe. Clam chauder is great stuff. If you are struggling to persuade your loved one to move to live in LA one day - just bring her or him to see this place. No further explanation needed.
The Getty itself is an architectural marvel, and the museum offers a great architectural tour for those interested. The museum is a combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, and many outdoor spots offer magnificent views of the city. When the garden is blooming it's a must-see. The exhibits rotate and I usually find them less compelling than those at LACMA. The museum itself is free, but the parking lot is not.
Great collection of art with awesome architecture buildings and beautiful gardens and it's ALL free. It has a great view of the city as well. You can spend the whole day here.
From the monotrail, to the beautiful and huge collection of art.. going to the amazing gaze we got up there.. this is an awesome place to embrace the culture and arts.
One of the most beautiful places, and the staff are a bunch of hypocritical people. How terrible that one can look at art, be immersed in it, and not be able to photograph for the purpose of furthering art in the property. Just tear the place down and sell pictures of the art on Getty images.
Beautiful place. Amazing views. Admission is free, all you pay is parking. You can walk or ride tram to the center. Gift shop items are reasonbly priced. There's outside tables and a small coffee and sandwich kiosk. Line was pretty long because the restaurant was closed. Even if you dont see the exhibits, go for the views and outdoor scenery.
Love it but the parking garage is underground..... 7 or 8 story down.. it cool n the arts r amazing ... . It worth it.. all u have to pay $6 for parking after 5pm ...... Before that is $10 .. that's it!!!!! U will love it!!!!
Awesome fun place to take the family. I love the garden & the all the works of art here. I would say come prepare to walk. You can hike up to the museum or you can wait in a long line to go on the tram that runs from the parking lot to the museum. It's huge with several buildings and tons of things to see. You can spend the whole day here & might not be able to see everything.
Beautiful grounds, architecture and views. A great day trip. I though the orientation film was a waste of time, but others said that they liked it. It was short. I enjoyed the Manet exhibit and the guided tour was well worth taking. The self guided audio tour was free, but I didn't use it that much, probably better if you are going through the museum solo or spending several days, so you have the time to listen fully. I personally like the exhibits at the Getty Villa better.
Beautiful artworks displayed in a gorgeous setting and a cool modern architecture. It is also a nice place to get a glass of wine and enjoy the scenery.
Amazing museum with great architecture. We had a guided architecture Tour and were amazed by what we learned. Definitely a great place to visit, five stars!
