The artwork was amazing. Too bad the was very little to no African or African American work or influence. Not for young kids. Middle school and above at best.

Very large area but great place to get lost, lots of items to see.
Fascinating art and architecture. Highly recommend tbt architecture tour while your there. AmaZing history and stories about the materials that help to build this beautiful museum.
Great way to spend a day! Amazing views of art and LA.
The Manet Exhibit focuses on the works of his later years, including works using pastels. Spent an entire Sunday from 10 am til close and barely got through half of the collections here.
A free art journey on mountain top.
Parking = $15
A fabulous place with so much to see. The gardens were beautiful, with amazing views. Really enjoyed the day.
Beautiful museum and wonderful art collection. I highly recommend making your way here. If you plan your visit, you can visit the Getty museum and Getty Villa for the price of parking once. As well all of the tours are free and I highly recommend them.
Great Art and history all around. The views of Los Angeles is great as well.
Great place to spend the day. Lots of exhibits to look at. Paintings, sculptures, drawings. Great views of the hills. Very well organized and clean.
The Getty is a steal for $10 considering that this is one of the top museums in the world with the best views of LA. It is a little hard to get here (especially without a car) but get here, and you'll see the beautiful architecture in tune with the view of the Pacific.
It's like walking onto Mount Olympus. Beautiful art of the highest calibur. From ancient Greece to Van Gogh and contemporary art the Getty has it all. It's really great. 100% free and worth the visit.
Marvelous place
Great place for families
I've had a great time here
Like a futuristic journey into the past with spectacular views of LA! Great architecture, lovely grounds and landscaping and all FREE! (Must pay for parking). Open to everyone. A trult wonderful & immensely generous contribution to the World and our city.
The best museum in LA. The whole museum complex is worth the visit alone. Great exhibitions all year round.
Why do they close at 530 if the website says 6 paid 15 bucks to spend 90 min not the best first experience for me
Wonderful architectural conception and VERY attentive staff made for enjoyable family evening for a panel talk/discussion. Watch out for the wind!
Such a treasure! Excellent exhibits, friendly staff.
The Getty Center should be on the top of anyone s list visiting LA. Some visitors, particularly those from Europe or having spent much time there, are skeptical of taking the time to visit art in LA. Not only does the Getty have a great permanent and temporary collection, but it is worth going even if you don t plan to set foot in the museum buildings. The building architecture, the garden, and the view of the city are all enough to make it a must-see.
The Getty is a must see for people that like Art and museums. The galleries contain art from around the World ranging from past to contemporary. Exhibits change regularly so always check for most updated exhibits. The facility itself is amazing and beautiful and the location is great as well. Free entry to the museum although you have to pay for parking.
Had a short visit early morning. We could not stop for the galleries due to our time limitations. Rather, we went for their free architecture and garden tours. Both of our tour guides were experienced, intellectual individuals and their presentations did not feel and sound like a generic, "memorized" speech.
The architecture tour guide was a lady who knew the architect personally, and I could say she was doing her job with love. You could get a great vibe from her during the tour.
The garden tour guide was my favorite, as he was very well-informed and more structured in his presentation in my opinion.
visiting the main garden is a must here. Be sure to take the garden tour. It is definitely worth it.
Gets extremely crowded (especially on weekends) but worth it. Contains many beautiful gardens and puts on engaging shows apart from just the usual exhibits
This place is so cool! First of all, it s FREE, which is amazing for Los Angeles (although lunch can be pricey... if you plan on eating, you may want to pack your own snacks). Secondly, some of the art on display is simply breathtaking. Finally, make sure you check out the garden when you visit the museum! It was by far my favorite part. It may appear to be just plants and flowers, but they ve made an art out of even that.
This place is good for those Museum lovers. Definitely a catch. They have free entrance and they have trails that will bring you to the top. They have food courts as well for you to buy food and beverages. I love sleeping on the grass with fresh breeze of air.
Just an excellent venue. Classy place and people are great. Highly recommend.
Absolutely one of the must-visit places in la. The complex is beautiful with hedge maze, lawn and architectural statues. The art collection is vast and the museum always introduces new explosions as well. Truly appreciate such opportunity to freely enjoy the art and spend quality time.
Best views of LA. Beautiful artwork and building. Almost hauntingly beautiful and serene. Best of all, it's free (minus the parking that you have to pay for in the garage).
An amazing place to go. Entry is Free, and there is a Disney style monorail that takes you from base to the Getty on top of the hill. The place is built like some futuristic labyrinth. The collection is varied and suitable for mostly everyone IMHO. It's diverse enough to warrant a mixture of tastes.
The outside gardens are truly spectacular, we wondered through these and just took it all in. Clearly a lot of time and effort and planning went into the overall construction, not just of the estate, but the garden also.
There are cafes and bars on site so you can rest up, both indoor and outdoor seating.
By the end of it, we decided to walk back to base from the Getty, and not take the monorail. This too was a lovely walk, but much easier going down hill than up hill.
Although the museum itself is free, make sure you have some money for the car park (under $10) and some money for the cafes.
Beautiful space. Excellent experience. Worth paying for and yet it's free.
This is one of the most beautiful place where you have to go while you stay in L.A. . Go and you will see!
Great art museum with spacious outdoor courtyards and nice area for families. The designated family area has fun art activities for children.
An excellent and beautiful art experience, truly a sight to behold. It must be seen by all tourists to appreciate the finer aspects of life. If you enjoy any form of art there will be something for you to enjoy. From sculptures to oil painting galore there is something from throughout the centuries compiled into one place.
This place is great to go for a nice relaxing day with a good friend or family and enjoy so many beautiful sights around the buildings or the art exhibits themselves. This place is a must for everyone that visits LA or who lives in Southern California. A good place to have a picnic or they have a restaurant on site that you can purchase food and enjoy between the sites. It's a great to visit during the day and then also at Sunset to see the Los Angeles Skyline at sunset.
Amazing place to visit! Reserve a day to tour the museum and also enjoy of the gardens and views of LA. They have an incredible collection of art pieces and the audio guide is one of the bests I have seen (pretty comprehensive but not too much information to digest). Great for people of all ages
Incredible museum, astounding architecture by Richard Meier.
Located on a hill this place features few museum and amazing views of LA. There is a 15$ parking fee but the entry to museum is free. You park at the foothill and then there is a train (running on a good frequency) which goes up to the Getty center.
Parking is 20 dollar, u need to take the tram or walk up to the museum. They offer free tours daily
Take your time and savour some of the best art on the planet.
I took my patient there we were so impressed with the beauty of the gardens and the incredible view. So much to do. Free admission parking was $20.00. Making it a cheap way to spend the day learning and taking in the wonderful views. They offer free headphones and a device that give you the history of the art (must leave your ID) with the counter people, don't forget to pick up your ID before you leave. Thank you J Paul Getty for a great experience.
Exceeded my expectations. Would definately go back!
I came here with my class yesterday and it was fantastic! I would LOVE to go again!!
What a wonderful art museum. The tours are usually not too crowded and they have lots of them throughout the day so if you miss one, there probably is another. It's also really helpful that they use mics and remote headsets for the tours so you can easily hear the docent without disturbing others in the area. Entrance is free, but parking is not, so car pool and get everyone in together. Skip the food, it's good but the prices are high. Set aside lots of time - this museum has an abundance of works and you could easily spend days seeing it all. Definitely a don't miss when in town!
Great place to visit. Little boring with kids. Massive place. Beautiful
Definitely the number one attraction in Los Angeles.
Amazing and a most go see place if you enjoy architecture and museum
What can I say that hasn't already been said? One of the most breathtaking experiences I've had in California. Truly a must do for everyone visiting from out of state!
This outing was enjoyable to the whole family. One can easily spend the day. Bring your camera, the views, are ones you will need to capture for later moments, when recalling the great time you had for free.
This has to be the most tranquil art gallery I have ever visited. Apart from the wonderful art the architecture is beautiful, simple yet well thought out and a real joy to walk around. One of my top things to do in LA.
Stunning views from the terraces too.
A large collection of wonderful arts. The meuseum is well orginized, and you can take an audio guide device (free of charge) when entering the building. The rest is easy, just follow the map, and listen to the guide. Very lovely experience. Tnx Getty.
Nice place to enjoy the view of the city and away from the hustle. Guided tours are available which to you about the gardens, architecture etc. Check for the timings at help desk. Only time you pay here is while parking which is $15. It has a nice library and museum to showcase some artifacts. There's resturant available here for a quick snack. We enjoyed our 2 hour stay here and clicked random photos.
This place is about 3.5 stars worthy. Maybe because I've been to the California Academy of Science since I was a kid. NightLife is the perfect low-key night out with friends / date-night. The moment you walk in, you're greeted by a massive T-Rex fossil (is it a replica? I have no idea). There's coat-check on the left and food vendors + a cafeteria to the right. The middle section serves alcoholic drinks and has a dj. The bar tender kept the tequila sunrises coming. And I wasn't mad about it. She actually made them really well. All the various exhibits are open, this really is the perfect spot for adults to come to.
Beautiful museum, with an incredible collection of art pieces, and a spectacular garden
Best museum in LA. If there is only one place to visit in LA, this would be the place.
This plaxe is worth the visit. You obly pay for parking. The price lowers after 3pm. The views are excellent during the day and night. Me and my boyfriend spent 4.5hr reading and staring at every painting/decorative room making sure we hit every part. It was amazing to see a Rembrandt in person.
It's free to look at art. $15 park. Kind of boring for the most part unless you are into really old art.
Super cool place! Nice walk from the parking area to the museum, worth doing.
Not too extensive, but carefully selected exhibition. The building and exteriors are pieces of art too.
The place is amazing but the security guards are awful!!! I had a camera bag and I made sure it wasn't in anyone's way but the one guard in the Photography building 'harassed' me and called Getty security to escort me out. Will never visit again.
This is such a beautiful place! Only cost is parking which is $15. Theres so much to see here. Both historic paintings and artifacts and gardens. You need to come back a couple times to be able to see everything. Great for families!
The Getty Center provides an amazing cultural resource full of many works of art and some beautiful sculptured gardens. Set at the top of a large hill (a computerised tram takes you up from street level) it offered amazing views of the city. Perhaps best of all it s completely free (except $20 parking), so we were able to admire Iris by Van Gough and Wheatstacks by Monet without breaking the bank.
I've spent the whole day here and it was nice to take a nice stroll around the whole museum and take it all in. Love coming here and the views always take my breath away. Can see Downtown LA and UCLA from there.
An amazing place in general, with an awesome view of LA and the ocean. The art collection is like nothing I've ever seen. Just wish I'd had more time to view all the exhibits. I could spend an entire day there, and hope to do so someday.
An amazing collection of art at the Getty Center and stellar views of LA from the grounds.
Admission is free. Parking is $20. But well worth the price. A tram takes you from the parking lot to the center. With multiple building and exhibits, one can easily spend a whole day here. We saw people with picnic lunches on the grass near the gardens.
More than you can see in one visit. The property is beautiful and the hilltop views are vast. Wear comfortable shoes, a lot of walking. Went to see Van Gough's Iris Painting, wasn't disappointed! $20 to park, but the only other money you'll spend is for lunch or in one of the gift shops.
Paintings are fun, statues are realistic, the view is beautiful... But the best part of it all... Definitely the roller coaster to the top. Loved the third drop!
This place was a magnificent experience, Although I'm no expert on art I do have a little bit of skepticism about the authenticity of their art pieces...
This is an breathlessly beautiful museum of European Art cut into the Los Angeles mountains so artfully that the city seems to bow to it's beauty from the view at the top.
The customer service is white glove, platinum, AND they serve alcohol, coffee, and espresso for the ones in your group that need distractions from looking into depths of human history.
They have rotating pieces and some that remain fixed, but no matter what is found on site, beauty finds it way to the surface of every blade of grass as the gardeners meticulously maintain the grounds giving inspiration to the illustrators that scribble on their sketchpads while photographers capture moments in time and the painters pick out new pallettes for their newest piece in hopes that one day it might be lucky enough to find itself at home in the place that brought it to life.
I KNOW I DRONE ON BUT SERIOUSLY CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! #SAVETHEBEES
