The Getty is placed on top of a mountain overlooking the ocean with a handsomely manicured property with a water feature, several outdoor dining and picnic areas. They offer permanent historical installations while displaying new creations as well. The museum is free and you're shuttled up on a tram which adds to the experience. Good for the everyone especially children and families.

One of the best free museums I ve ever been to! A good mix of classic and modern art. There are free audio guides in the front though they do seem to run out very quickly. Outside of the museum, there are also gardens to walk around. Great place just to hang out!

There's all kinds of art, galleries and gardens; it's a perfect way to spend the day surrounded by impressive arquitecture, gorgeous pieces of painting or sculpture and even special exhibitions. Highly recommend for leisurely strolling and hanging out

Like visiting Tony Stark's Malibu home full of interesting history, artwork and remarkable landscape. The food in the cafeteria exceeded expectations and be sure to bring your walking shoes! Really nice they include an audio tour for free but you have to pay to park.

The Getty is awesome. Make sure to get the FREE audio tour. It really adds to the experience. The gardens are beautiful and the views are really cool. I can't wait to go back again, there is so much to see. Very hard to do it all in one day. My suggestion, go early and beat the rush.

I'll have to come back to experience the whole museum. What I did get to see of it was magnificent! Such a respectful display for what is being exhibited. A person can erase outside interferences and imerce into the surrounding beauty both inside and out

Absolutely gorgeous!! I could spend a week here. The artwork is, of course, fantastic, but the views are works of art in themselves. It's free to get in, but parking is $15 (which is a steal, really, all things considered). They do check your bags when you come in. The cafeteria had a million options (my non-vegetarian boyfriend got the Impossible Burger and was overall quite impressed), but I was told that the only safe options I had with my Celiac disease were at the Fiesta Station. The gift shop was cheaper than expected and I ended up leaving with a pretty Van Gogh iris fridge magnet for about $5. Overall, it's like a free Disneyland for the artistically inclined. We're already planning our next visit.

Completely worth it for the $15 entrance fee for parking only. We like European art from the 1800's and the one room they had was great. We checked out that room primarily, and did a gentle stroll around the garden and took in the views. The place opens at 10AM on Sunday, but there was already a short line entering the parking lot. By 12 when we left there was a pretty long line (30m wait verbally) for the tram with everyone new taking the long walk up. Show up early -- even earlier than the opening time. You just won't be able to walk into the museum, but everything else is open - garden + sculptures + views.

November 2016 visit - Our first visit was gorgeous! Garden was open and flowers were blooming.

February 2019 visit - Took the shuttle bus up, then took the tram down. Garden was closed due to no flowers. There are other arts to look at in the museums if interested. Parking free for first hour, $15 fixed price after that.

This museum is a free experience for everyone. I recommend to take the tram and keep an eye out for the Egypt in the classic world exhibit. Parking is 15 dollars (10 if you get there after 3 pm). You can also get to and from there by bus. Take some snacks and drinks with you since you can take all day to get to know the different pavillions. Have a picnic near the central garden. There is a small cafeteria available.

One of the best places in LA. There is a lot to see there, 5 buildings around the central courtyard each 2-3 storey full of Renaissance paintings and there are beautiful gardens located around these buildings. You should probably dedicate an entire day if you want to go there.

Been going here since my days at USC in 2003. The best art collection under one roof in southern california, period ! Timken and the SD museum of art come close but this is it ! Need a day to just relax and take it all in, and the views are to die for, great restaurants on premises - overall was a great experience every single time ive been there.

I love this place. I remember my old art teacher telling me she use to work here. Ever since then I wanted to go. It's free plus parking is only $10 after 6pm on Saturdays. This is by far the best museum I've been too. Definitely the best on the west coast. The art work is priceless. Expect to be here a 4-5 hours of just exploring. Its huge.

Great place to visit here and there, but not too often. They have some rotating exhibits and some permanent ones. The admission is free, but you pay for parking ($15 or $10 if coming in after 3pm). During weekends, it gets very packed, so you can either wait in line to take the tram up or walk up with provided umbrellas.

We thought the curation was difficult to follow and there was little natural flow in the exhibitions or between the various exhibitions on show. This was a pity as the architecture is unusual as is the garden. It should have been a wonderful experience but we left rather perplexed and disappointed.
