I found the front desk staff pretty mediocre. They say "No" for everything but can't even say it a way that does not offend you. Dirty room. Nothing I could use for the resort fee. Everything is extra like chairs on the beach the other such hotels provide for the resort fee. Pretty location for views but not for direct beach access or ocean view.

Excellent staff and amenities, beautiful surroundings . Clean rooms with great daily housekeeping.
Close to Lahaina, accessible to great beaches via shuttle for snorkeling, swimming. Excursions available from hotel which were wonderful!
Food on property is of good variety including higher end restaurants as well as pool side bar and general store in walking distance. Coffee shop near lobby is great for a quick breakfast.

Can't wait to return!

Love that the resort was so quiet and not crowded. Only con I have: perhaps we came at peak hours for check in, but the check in desk is pretty small so it was hard to speak to the representative while talking over other guests checking in. We were greater with a pretty shell lei and the valet guys are so nice and are quick. We got an awesome package that included daily breakfast at the Terrace. Kapalua is at least 40 min away from all the main attractions like the ocean center in Wailuku and many snorkeling docks. Keep that in mind in case all your activities are scheduled on the other side of the island. Other than that, our stay has been nothing short of fabulous and we want to come back and stay at the Ritz!

The bathroom plumbing knocked loudly every hour or so. The housekeeping forgot the water bottles one day and the coffee the next. The restaurants were empty, but served out of order and took over an hour in one case. The pool towels were discolored. The accounting was dysfunctional. The hotel promised to deliver a package in the eventing, but I had to call again and then the bell man came after I was asleep.
Even so, some of the staff was great. They went out of their way to help when needed.

The spa at the ritz-carlton kapalua was absolutely amazing. Not only was the hot rock massage relaxing and rejuvenating the massage therapist was so personable. The spa exceeded my expectations with the relaxation room, sauna, and Jacuzzi. Everything was amazing I would go back in a second.

We had a very beautiful spacious room, with a, great kitchenette. Pool was nice but construction going on during the day. About a ten minute walk down to a very quiet beach that was great for boggy boarding!

This is by far the worst Ritz I've ever stayed at. They have terrible customer service. The facility is dated and needs to be redone. Luke the pool boy was very rude. For the amount of money it's costs to stay you would think they would be able to accommodate. The fruit was flown in from South America not the good Hawaii fruit. Very disappointed!

Would be 5 star if not for the horrible shower in the room. I could not shave my legs or wash properly in the shower it was so small. I had to start the bath tub filling, get in the shower, wash my hair and body, then get into the bath to shave and wash "the undercarriage" if you catch my drift. After a day at the beach the later is very important. At a hotel like this i really expected a better bathing experience. Other than that the staff, food, amenities were all wonderful.

We had a total miss with our stay. We got a single bed for a family of four and they had no other rooms to move us to. So they sent two cots that crowded the room and were horrible to sleep on. Not why you spend the money for the Ritz. We were bummed so went down to the pool where there were no chairs but we found a spot and ordered drinks. After 30 minutes asked about them and the waiter said he was going to check, 30 minutes later we had to ask him again, this time he said the order got lost and he he would reenter it. This happened 3 other times during our three days there! They offered compensation which shows this is not what they expect either, but we will not be back. Would much rather stay at the Four Seasons for this amount of money. Even when we checked out we ended up loading our bags into our car. Was not what were expecting from the Ritz.

The Ritz staff went above and beyond to make sure our experience ones one of a kind. There was always something for us to do throughout our visit and thanks to the Ritz, we never missed an event or outing. He beach is a great place to get a tan or hang out with the kids. In the evening time it's a quiet romantic place to sit and remember the day to the relaxing sound of the waves. The most outstanding time is attending the luau. You must schedule that into your visit if possible. There are great lawns to exercise on and the facilities have all the sports courts ready for you to play one on one or a family game. Family reunions, weddings you name it and the Ritz can accommodate and they have and will make you feel like your number one.

Read a bunch of reviews that I want to clarify. Property is very nice in the northern part of the island. About 50 minutes away from the airport. A few things, RENT A CAR. You will need it to get around. The hotel isn't cheap. Be prepared to spend money. Drinks and food here are not cheap but there are a few surrounding restaurants walking distance of the hotel. It is VALET ONLY PARKING. There is no self parking and you are automatically charged $30/night but are allowed in and outs. Tip: if you are planning to get your car, call ahead from your room and have valet have it ready for you so you dont have to wait. The service was excellent. Was greeted by everyone. Very good service. Nice stay overall. There are probably other hotels on the island that are nicer so do your homework. They do have a 10 min fireshow every night at 730 which was cool. Their pool is huge. Plenty of chairs.

A wedding gone sour. We addressed several concern with the hotel while we were there for our wedding and more after. At first they were very concerned with our happiness and then changed their tune. We had terrible pool service literally walking around trying to find someone to serve us. We had a rat run through the bar between our feet and was told this is normal. Our wedding party guest were overcharged for them room as were we. We were given wrong/false information by Sophie our wedding director and our photos did not turn out as stated and were told if we wanted what was promised we would have to pay more. We paid extra for the best and we received far less than that. Very disappointed and would recommend going anywhere else.

Beautiful surroundings, hotel check-in, and lobby. Outdoor lanterns in huge Banyon tree upon entering. Lobby and bar area is open and casual. View at the bar overlooks the courtyard and pool area. Nighttime was gorgeous with a lot of ambiance. Drinks were high-priced as to be expected.

Just doesn't live up to the "Ritz" standard I am used to. Pool service is not good at all. They promise a bunch of things at check-in for kids they never delivered on. Rooms are pretty basic. Seems like they try to cut a lot of corners at this particular property. Beautiful views though.

Went to the Banyan Tree for dinner at the hotel. The uni carbonara was delicious. Very generous portion size and service was good. The restaurant itself is located in the middle of the hotel premises so a little hard to find, but the valet walked me half way there to make sure I didn't get lost. Very pleased with the service overall.

Just spent a glorious week at this beautiful resort and experienced nothing but first class service from the always smiling staff who really project the Aloha spirit. The resort itself is well kept with beautiful flowers and plants everywhere. A delightful breeze is always present at the pool area, keeping you comfortable even on the hottest, sunniest days. We were blessed with great weather (mid-June, only had some rain showers one morning), and it was hard leaving the resort pool area to go explore the island. The management and staff really know how to treat their guests well, especially Marriott platinum elite members like me. We were given an upgrade and other amenities, starting with a lei greeting upon arrival. We were often addressed by name; always greeted with a smile by the helpful staff. Kapalua is a bit remote, and it can take well over an hour to visit some of the other areas of the island. But frankly, the resort shuttle will take you to the beach, area restaurants and golf courses, so there's no reason to leave the area.
We ate at the resort's Banyan Tree restaurant and it was wonderful. Had the specialty of the house - the 20+ oz red snapper for two that was beautifully presented by our personable and knowledgeable waiter, and so delicious. We had drinks and lunch delivered right to our chaise by the pool. So wonderfully indulgent. Visited the burger shack on the beach twice. Scrumptious.
I was concerned, prior to our visit, by some of the negative reviews I read. Not sure what those folks were expecting, but we have traveled extensively throughout the world and our experience here was one of the best.
Yes, Hawaii is expensive and this place even more so . . . if you are counting your pennies, this is not the resort (or for that matter, island) for you. Mahalo to GM Kevin and his great staff for a wonderful time. Aloha!

Beautiful resort in a secluded area that is much quieter than some other areas of the island. We spent a lot of time on the balcony looking over the ocean and the mountains. Lots of nice walking trails surrounding the resort and the Honolulu store is a reasonably priced convenience store with fresh food options.

Strongly recommend!!! We had our honeymoon here and absolutely love it! This is by far the best resort you could stay at in Maui. There is so much shops, really good restaurant and the list goes on. The best part is that it is very peaceful here because the resort is away from others. This made our stay so much more enjoyable. The view is gorgeous and the host are superior. I can't stress enough how amazing hospitality is here!!! It doesn't compare to any other place you will ever stay at.

Outstanding Hotel. My first trip to Maui in 2011, we got an outrageous deal with a flight included from the East Coast. Stayed here for I think it was 6 nights around my birthday. Expansive grounds, basketball, tennis, views galor, places to go nearby. Was back in the vicinity of second time five years later, A lot has changed. But the hotel is still fantastic, and a lot more expensive!
