The finest local, and traveling bands can be heard here, 7 nights per week, sometimes more than one show each evening. The bar food is better than most, some vegan options, good adult beverages.

For a bar entertainment venue, this place was nice. Not a dive, but had a good rock armosphere vibe. The women's bathrooms were great for a bar. All individual with private doors. I liked it. The sound was great, the bartenders were good and friendly and the food was ok. I ordered fried green beans and they were really good. My love ordered a Reuben and wasn't impressed. We usually get restaurant reubens, so maybe a few drinks in, it might've been yummy. Overall, for our first time there, it was a really good experience.

Great small venue, awesome show. Ticket said "7 pm". Venue website says "DOORS OPEN GENERALLY ONE HOUR BEFORE MUSIC STARTS". We arrived at 6:40 to get a seat. Guy at the door informed us doors open at 7, show starts at 8. No big deal, except his jerk demeanor about it. We went across the street to SoT and had drinks so we didn't have to buy anything from recordBar that night.

If someone can answer my question I will be happy, so I'm 14 years old and my favorite singer Sabrina Carpenter is coming and I'm going with my mom, do you think they'll let me in if I'm accompanied by my mom?

My girlfriend Maggi and I had a great time at the Record Bar. We decided to go to the Cover Me Kansas City event. I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had. The Record Bar is such an intimate place to enjoy live entertainment, we are looking forward to our next trip.

The food was good, and one of the bartenders (Adam), was super awesome. This is what keeps this place from getting a one star rating from me.
I would highly recommend to all traveling shows to seek a venue elsewhere in KC.

I had an ok night there. The stage is in a really awkward spot. If it were on the north wall, many people could gather around and see well, along with a direct view from the balcony. But from its current position, it allows for approximately 20-30 people to have a decent view while everyone else stands behind people. Maybe the logistics only allow for the stage to be in that spot? We attended a sold out show so it was quite a challenge to even see anyone on their stage.

Saw the Rainmakers here. Like the Rainmakers but don't care for the record bar. Not enough seating and too crowded. Somebody call the fire marshal they pack to many people in. Hard to get to the bar. Better tip the waitress good if you want another drink.

RE: "Please let us know..."

The recordBar is fine, and I'm sorry to say that the reason I rated it "not as good as" other similar live music type places was because of the ergonomics of the tables in the main area. We literally had to guard our food and drinks because they kept getting bumped by every person who passed by, including waiters and the very aggressive table-clearers. Maybe this is just something I'm personally picky about, but even at really rough nasty live music venues in the area, I haven't had to face that particular problem. If I'm going to spend money to buy an actual sit-down meal for my entire family, that means it's a restaurant, so I want to be able to sit and watch the music while I eat and not have to worry about guarding my food and drink.

Really fun place for live music! I saw Civil Twilight here on 8-9-15. It's really small but not over crowded and packs big sound. Very laid back vibe. Great variety at the bar. Can't wait to go back!

Nice venue for a concert. It is definitely more intimate and you get to see the band up close. The sound guy was on point. It was much better than Uptown for sound. The drinks were good. The staff was nice and observant. We had a unruly patron who was quickly dealt with. And, the bartenders made some fantastic drinks. Thanks for a great evening.

Great venue for a concert, small and personal. Have any drink you can think of and lots of beer on tap. Very clean place, the bathrooms were nicest I've ever seen in bar. Great atmosphere great place!

Cute little bar, luvd it. The performers sound better and it feels more personal. It kind of reminded me of Chain Reaction, it's a bar in Anaheim (Nostalgia). Definitely check this place out!

The Record Bar is one of the best spots in Kansas City to hear live music. Everytime I have been there for a show, the sound mix has been excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is tasty too. You should go there and bring your friends and family!

The record is exceptional for live music. Sadly have a door woman tall brunette that has a chip on her shoulder and projects attitude to everyone who walks in the door. There are so many live music options in Kansas City that I will not go back here if she is working . A friend of mine actually got a free beer from a bartender when they were treated rudely by this person. Ownership should remedy this rude problem .

Saw Pigface there last night venue perfect place for it,bartenders fast, friendly, non judgemental.
Space big but not to big, could see fairly well from most places in the room, bathrooms clean etc. Right off the bus line.
The power and light district looms evilly to the north, crown center is to the south and a strip club threatening you with TOTALLY NUDE dancers is directly across the street, but Record Bar is the only place you'll need to be,trust me.

Was so excited to win tickets. All the info said doors open at 6 and show starts at 7. I arrive at 6PM and am only one woman standing alone and the doors are locked. Manager sees me from inside but doesn't bother to tell me the times have now changed, doesn't even acknowledge me. I call them I am by myself standing outside and doors are locked. NOW he tells me I am wrong. The doors don't open till 7 and show starts at 8. i reiterate that I'm alone outside and have parked many blocks away. He told me to go somewhere and have a drink or go back to my car. Yes! He actually said that! Now some people are arriving also having seen the same info as I. One man said I should have read the reviews, that they do this all the time to customers. Someone realized the door is now unlocked and we all go in. The manager (RUDEST I've EVER encountered) starts yelling at us, telling us we are wrong. Tells one customer who tried to advise him of the listed times we all saw and he starts yelling at HER now and tells her to leave and that she won't be allowed back in. WHAT?!?! I've never encountered anything like this. We all go back outside and several of us left.
I will never return and caution anyone else to not trust the times and not to expect to be treated well.
Quite obviously safety of your customers is of NO concern to you. And they impression you give that I didn't treat any employee respectfully is absurd. I had very little contact with anyone except to say that I was a single woman standing out on the sidewalk alone. I was the one, among others that was treated disreputably. Poor way to run a business;
Beware anyone going here. Times are often not correct and they don't take any responsibility for it.

I ve only been once, but I enjoyed this place. I didn t know what I wanted to drink and the bartender asked me what kind of beer I liked and suggested something. Good place for shows. Not too small nor is it too big. Still intimate and it s awesome that you can view the shows upstairs. The vinyl record wall is rad too. I d def go again

Superb, intimate environment with great sight lines to the stage, engaged and courteous staff, solid offerings from the bar AND kitchen (yes, a concert venue with a kitchen!) and in a convenient location downtown near tons of other restaurants, bars and entertainment options. The sound mixing and levels don't try to overplay the place it's in, allowing for generally big, clear and powerful audio that doesn't get all crumbled and ragged out. I live going to see shows at the Record Bar.

The bartenders were unattentive and rude, we were told to leave after paying a five dollar cover an hour before because a DJ was coming in. He also messed up the bill and tried to charge for 2 more drinks than I ordered.

Full bar with chill staff, semi intimate atmosphere for live music. You can get close enough to the artists to see whats happening on stage, but also has seating with tables towards back and upstairs. Like the Corralled smoking patio which means I didn't have to leave drinks unattended to step outside.
