My daughter and I drove down to this venue from central Iowa on October 16th, to see a group that she had previously seen on the Van's Warped Tour (Yungblud).

This place could give lessons to the places we have like this in the Des Moines area! The Record Bar was clean, the restrooms were impressive (and clean). The food was awesome; I had the chicken fingers and fries. The other folks who attended the show were really cool and friendly. I met several nice people from St. Louis and Cameron, too.

About halfway into the main acts gig, my daughter had passed out because of the crowding in front of the stage. To the band's credit (and their crew), they immediately stopped the show, pulled her up across the stage, and to the back to get her some water and air. At this point the staff of this place also sprang into action to help out as well. They made sure she had plenty of water, got her something to eat, and repeatedly checked on her condition. This means more to me than anything else. Too many places, I'd venture to say, couldn't have cared less when something like this happens. I know, I've seen it too many times. This staff went above and beyond, however.

To the owner; you've got an excellent staff! To the staff; a million thanks - you guys are the best!

Wonderful food and an amazing spot to hear live music. It's a positive force for KC as the recordBar makes an effort to be connected to the community, from showing the LCPA high school jazz band perform to constantly supporting local artists.

Went here for a concert a few weeks back. It was a very nice intimate setting for a show. The staff was friendly. Only concern is the drinks are a little pricey, but it is Kansas City after all.

Showed up at 6 pm for a 7 pm show. We had called ahead to verify that they would be open. We wanted to have dinner and get good seats for the Irish band Lunasa. Rudely informed by the manager that the doors didn't open until 7 and the band would start at 8. Several other people had arrived early with the same intentions, all to be turned away. The manager was screaming at us and accused us all of having seen the wrong information. We left and will never return to The Record Bar.

Great until I got kicked out, you can't offer 2$ "mystery shots", take my $107 dollars, then kick us out for being drunk... isn't that the God damn point. Highly doubt they can pull a name big enough for me to care about going back. The place is nice, not that nice tho.

I ate here during a company Christmas party. The staff were very polite and the bar was clean. I absolutely love the pizza! I really enjoyed watching various bands preform while I ate. The bar has a very friendly and warm atmosphere. I definitely recommend this place!

Traveling through from Texas to Iowa, we stop to rest for the night and we love local places, local faces. Not corporate America; but the real America. We were in the mood for live rock and show up to an awesome performance by Urban Renewl Project. They rocked the house, we took pics, had a blast here. Recommended!
