Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I have just returned from a anniversary weekend away. On Saturday night and Sunday morning we had no hot water to our shower. Attempted to report the issue in the morning, to be told the manager wasnt in, and would have to wait for a phone call back. All I can say is I have never felt so insulted. The "manager" called me and my partner a liar and couldn't careless as basically we have already paid. I now understand why they take payment upfront. I will avoid at all costs and let others know to do the same.

We booked a meal here and as others have pointed out it was reasonable pub grub rather than delicious bistro dining. We had been warned that the restaurant had a big family party booked in so we chose the pub side.
The Mediterranean fish platter for two had a good selection of breadcrumbed/battered fish (not home made), prawns and tapenade. Main courses of sirloin steak (tasty) and 'spicy' chicken burger (bland) were ok. P.s. chips are fantastic!
Staff were clearly rushed off their feet but very polite and attentive. The couple sat next to us who were staying at the hotel were not pleased that they had not been warned that the restaurant was busy - especially as they had not been told the night before that one of the chefs was sick. The trio who rushed in from the garden after a rain shower told the same story when they then had to eat at the bar.
I wanted to visit the toilet and waited at reception for the man to notice me - he slowly looked up from his phone (held in landscape with thumbs at either end, that's a dead giveaway!) looked at me as if I had tracked in on the bottom of his shoe and deigned to point me in the right direction. I was so surprised at his attitude that I had to ask one of the waitresses who he was, "That's the owner" I was told.
Perhaps if you know you are busy and you are not very good with customers you employ more of the polite waiters/waitresses? I expected the "pub grub" food but it was the arrogant attitude that spoilt it for me. *** Re. Owners comment - I can only hope he's mistaking me for another customer as I was in no way asked to leave; I politely asked for the bill, thanked our waitress and left the STAFF a tip. Although, the Jackanory comment might be right...
Love coming here. Fab place and the food is delicious. The only negative are the toilets...they feel abit unloved and not inkeeping with the rest of the place, need a fresh lick of paint! Lovely staff and dog friendly with a great outdoor seating area for when it's sunny! Carpark onsite.
We enjoyed a very nice family meal out and were patiently looked after by friendly staff while we fiddled about placing our order. Hats off to them for their good humour! The Little Dishes starter is definitely worth a try, really very tasty. A special mention and thank you to Ellie our waitress who was super polite and friendly.
Went to a baby birthday party in a hired room looking out onto a small garden. Great venue for small party - feels homely, like someone's sitting room . Has its own little kitchen too. Would recommend it.
Cosy atmosphere. Great food at a reasonable price. Interesting daily specials. Portions are quite large. The putty was I did not make to the mouthwatering dessert.
An excellent place to eat and stay. Our bedroom was spacious and clean. The food in the restaurant was delicious. The breakfast had a excellent buffet followed by a large cooked breakfast. Staff were very helpful.
Stayed one night in room 4 but didn't get much sleep as there was a mouse/rat scurrying around at 3am. Mentioned it to the Manager and he said he would investigate further. Not even a proper apology or refund.
Saw some dodgy reviews on the Cot's own website which concerned me a bit. My stay was completely fine though. Up to its usual standard. Still recommended
I wouldn't call this a pub and certainly not cosy. They are trying to be a posh restaurant. At lunchtime, they are clearly aiming at the posh business people and well off retirees in jackets and ties. We turned up after a walk in the locality wearing decent jeans and trainers and the lady behind the bar was extremely off-hand and unwelcoming and suggested we eat in 'The Hut' which is separate from the main building. The two young ladies in The Hut couldn't have been more different. Thoroughly recommend them. They would be 5*.
Lovely hotel with the renovation promising even nicer. The food was fabulous and the staff could not have been more helpful. Thoroughly recommend a stay here.
I strongly recommend people with children avoid this restaurant. Went out for a family meal, and when we arrived at the rather empty restuarant we were 'greeted' by a fairly aggressive and dismissive waitress who asked if we'd booked, and acted as though we'd caused her a huge inconvenience when we said no. When at the table we were told they did not have a children's menu or do smaller portions. My partner's 5 year old daughter did not want any of the roasts so we asked if she could just have a portion of bread and cheese. The waitress said she'd ask the chef and came back to tell us they had no cheese. We were surprised by this as there was a cheese board option on the dessert section of the menu, so we questioned it, but she insisted they had absolutely no cheese and were low on other ingredients too. My partner's father asked for the cheese board after the meal, and again we were told there was no cheese. However about an hour later while waiting for the bill (the service was also extremely slow), the waitress walked past us, with a cheese board for another table. My partner's father asked her why we told there was no cheese, to which she replied 'this is only brie and cheddar.. it's the last one' and stomped away. I am still absolutely disgusted they refused a child food and lied so blatantly to us. Needless to say we will not be returning.
A vegetarian's review. The meals for omnivores looked well presented. Actually the "panache of vegetables" accompanying them looked better than the options intended for veggies. I never understand why this is so often the case
Went to the Ragged Cot for drinks and food, the service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Beautiful outside seating area, and the garden is well maintained. The staff were very helpful and I couldn't find a fault with anything about my visit there.
Mary and I are experienced world travelers. We always try to find a local inn or bed and breakfast which we believe to be a locally owned and operated facility. When we travel we enjoy mixing in with the local residents to learn and experience their daily life. The Ragged Cot is just that. From the moment we walked in the front door we felt welcome and at ease. Greeted by Sam, the General Manager and the owner, Stuart, we knew right off we d made the right decision. When we book a local lodge or B&B we expect the rooms to be clean, comfortable, en suite bath and some creature comforts: TV; coffee and/or tea service; bathroom essentials; moderate closet space. And indeed The Ragged Cot complies. Next on our expectation list is the food and beverage. It was not necessary to find anyplace else to eat. Beginning with a restaurant having two sides floor to ceiling windows looking out on to the nicely manicured yard to the cozy, dimly lit pub and bar nothing else was necessary. Regarding menu selections again, complete and varied. From a varied list of starters, to dinner selections representing the local area favorites and a desert menu leaving nothing out, each of our meals was delightful and delicious. Pairing was a non issue as there were plenty from which to choose. The chef plates the dinner selections in a manner that visually said delicious. And it was. Meal portions were more than plenty and prices were very much in line with expectations. Each staff member we met: Stuart; Sam; Cosmina; and Steph could not have been more welcoming and sincerely grateful for our choosing their Inn. So, if you re the kind of travelers like us, and want to experience what I have just described then absolutely book your stay at The Ragged Cot. It s location is perfectly situated If your intent is to spend a few days simply enjoying the lovely Cotswolds in western England. If you re looking for a room and dining experience you might find in a corporate hotel in the center of London, Paris or New York, then don t come here. But if you re looking for a true western England country experience the Ragged Cot should be your #1 choice. We will return we hope more than once. David and Mary Hornack Beaumont, Texas USA.
3 Star rating is a bit generous. Bathroom sink not attached to wall properly. Tried to wipe condensation from bathroom mirror and the entire mirror slid across the wall. Shower failed to drain properly and a couple of minutes longer bathroom flooor would have been awash. Breakfast buffet was a miserable affair minimal amount of food available under heat lamps. And what was available had bee there for some time.
Stayed in one of their premium rooms and really enjoyed it. We liked their 'can do' approach; eg. how and where we wanted to have drinks before & after our meal, even if it didn't quite fit their normal routine, was no prob, or, "Can you do a G&T with Hendricks & cucumber?" Yes.
The restaurant was excellent. All in all, very recommendable!
Stayed at burnt ash farm caravan site. This pub close by.
Double what we pay in Lincolnshire. But we thought were on holiday so let's have a pint. Grumpy barmaid. I feel for the lady served first who had a very expensive suite on as the large glass of red was poured all over the place. Sat in the back garden which is lovely and wellkept. But come on when paying that much for two drinks and 4customers in total don't you think you should clear the tables that have empties? Bar lady had time for a smoke and a rant on her mobile though just saying!
I would like to give them 0 starts. I had a booking with them and few days before the sent me a message saying that the room was under refurbishment (something that you should know in advance, not couple of days before) and they told me to book in another place, when they should do it cause it's something out of my reach. So after contact booking.com they agreed to pay the difference when I book in other hotel. After staying in the other place, I sent them a mail with the invoice asking for the refund of the difference. Two weeks later I didn't get any answer or anything, so I contacted again Booking and they refused to pay the refund. Later, I sent them an email asking the same thing again. Finally I got the money via Booking.com wallet (so I'm still not sure if they truly pay me), buy still not a single word from them, service is so terrible that they don't even care to answer you.
REALLY AWFUL SERVICE, DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE, PLEASE AVOID BOOK IN THIS HOTEL.
The bed was very comfortable and warm, there was ample wardrobe space even though I didn't need to use it as I was only staying for one night. The bathroom was good but the tap in the shower did come off, this didn't really affect our usage though because it went back on fairly easily. The tea and coffee making facilities were somewhat lacking and there wasn't a choice of breakfast other than a 'grab bag'. However, this was due to the Covid-19 situation but all in all, a good stay.
Food is ok, nothing special though. Watch out if you have happy babies/children. The staff have no problem asking you to get your 11 month old happy baby to be quiet. Not family friendly, and they have issues with the happy sounds of babies.
Top quality service all round. I absolutely love this place. The staff are very friendly and the food is absolutely gorgeous. It's definitely worth a visit.
Nice place though a bit remote. Room nice quality and comfortable. Restaurant food did not live up to expectations. The cod batter was inedible overcooked on outside but vastly undercooked on inside. Cod itself was full of bones . Would we stop again proberly no.
Considerable reduction in quality, compared to previous visits. Staff didn't process feedback well and suggested we should have mentioned issues when they checked back... About 30secs into the meal. Edit: A year later and not much has changed, I've been 'worse' places, had better food for less money and felt more valued as a customer.
Great Gastro Pub and separate Coffee Lounge. Could not fault it.... they have bedrooms too and a large well kept garden to the front and rear of the dining room. Decent sized car park with CCTV, not that it's needed around here, it's the Cotswolds don't you know!
We popped in mid week for lunch. Good service. Disappointing fish & chips that had bones in, sent back to kitchen and came back without bones being removed. Quite nice mushroom strogonoff but so much salt, was difficult to eat. Restaurant sadly empty but for us. Don't think we'd go back.
Will definitely come back, however our starter came out the same time as the mains?? The chicken chorizo pasta was really salty and I am not a fussy eater but was a bit much for me. In fairness this was taken off our bill as I managed about a third. Really nice in there though fish and chips looked nice. I had bad food envy. Menu is vast with many options.
