I should have kept walking. Expected more of a "pub" menu, mainly sandwiches and burgers. The service was amateur, and the food could have been better, given the price. Honestly, would rather have ended up elsewhere. Timing on the appetizer More

Food was very good, but this review is about the staff.

On Memorial Day my family and I ate lunch there after the parade. While eating inside a drunk driver hit and totaled our parked car right outside of the restaurant. My husband, 1 year-old daughter and I were stranded being that we traveled from Florida and had our hotel in DC.

The staff took SUCH GOOD CARE OF US. I didn't get the managers name but she was young and blonde and so very kind! They helped us out with food, water, and applesauce for me because I am pregnant and extremely nauseous! They went out of their way to make sure we knew their facilities were available to us, constantly coming out to check on us, it was so great of them. THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU! YOU ALL MADE THAT DAY SO MUCH EASIER FOR US!

Really cool old building, you wouldn't know from looking at it that it nearly all burned down. The spinach artichoke bread bowl is the die for. I was feeling good and ordered the best steak... it was so good I felt the need to share pieces with the rest of my table. Stop to eat everytime we're out there.

The food was decent but we found a hair in our pasta. That makes it hard to review the rest of the food. I would not return. Had to wait and order something different which they still added to our check which is ridiculous since the first dish we order had a long hair in it. I do not recommend this restaurant.

It was highly recommended and rated.. i have no idea why. Ordered a burger and rack of ribs. Burger was okay but ribs were simply not good. Slightly overcooked, the meat itself was pretty flavorless and dry. The bbq sauce was heavily used but the sauce itself was not good. It's also not really cheap either. Wish i had went elsewhere.

A really nice, old school pub with some very unique menu items. For instance the spaghetti and grilled cheese sandwich - unbelievably good and messy. Or how about the Black and Blue burger made with chocolate, the black, and blue cheese for the blue. Fantastic!

I ordered a chicken dinner that advertised spinach, sun dried tomatoes, stuffed in the chicken. No where was there an indication it was spicy. I would not have ordered it had I known because I have reflux issues. After two bites, I knew I could not eat it. I did take two bites of the potatoes and a bite of the asparagus but when I asked management to remove this from our bill because I could not eat it, I was told they would reduce my plate by 50% sine I ate half of it. Not true and I believe poor business practice. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Extremely disappointed. Have been there in the past and loved it, despite the very loud noise level. Last night was disastrous. Friend ordered cobia entree and was told after a bit of a wait that it is not available. Menu needs to be updated and also with more healthy choices! I wanted a small side dinner salad with my entree, and was told there was no such thing. I had to order a larger $6 salad, just to have a veggie with my pasta. Also, a distinctive wait until the server returned to get my friend's replacement order. Friend asked if her entree would arrive at the same time as the 3 others she accompanied, and was told yes. That was not the case, though, and then the order was served with the wrong salad dressing. A different server actually delivered our food, and there was also confusion and a major mix up, which resulted in having a portion returned. At that point, the regular server no longer seemed happy with us. The manager appeared shortly thereafter, asking about the issue. Other customers were watching. We were not trying to be difficult and had not asked to see the manager. It was embarrassing. Later, our server did not ask to refill waters or iced teas, and had to be asked for extra napkins. Food was mediocre, at best. Mostly flavorless, all around. When the bills arrived, there was an error on one bill, which we never even addressed. Will not be returning. Too bad, because the slices of cake look amazing.

Cuban sliders and cream of crab. Ok, slider is a relative term because these were bigger than some sandwiches. And the flavor was sooo good. "Cup" of soup, try large mug of soup. Meaty well seasoned but not over seasoned at all. First of many trips to the Pub.

Great service, great food. One warning, if you order the cheese quesadilla with jalapenos there are a lot of jalapenos and little else. We were a party of 9 people and the rest of the food was great. Tim our server was a pro.

It seems like no one makes a great burger or homemade potato chips in Gettysburg, but this was the best so far. The bruschetta was a pizza for some reason - avoid probably. Weak gin and tonic. Waitress and atmosphere are A plus.

OFFICIALLY THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I HAVE ...

OFFICIALLY THE WORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!
Let me start by saying I do not normally take the time to write reviews, but I felt compelled to do so in this case. It was a beautiful, late, October Saturday in Gettysburg. We decided to eat Dinner at The Pub & Restaurant because the better restaurants were booked up. The hostess informed us there would be a 30 minute wait. To our surprise that wait went on for an hour and a half. After voicing my frustration to the hostess we were seated right away. I explained to the waitress how long our wait was and that we had a tour to go on later that same night. She offered no apology and explained that they were very busy and it basically could not be helped (in so many words). She did not serve us any water. I asked the waitress if she could do anything to speed the order up and received about the same response. After a long wait we started to notice that other customers that arrived more then 45 minutes after we had arrived were enjoying their meals. The waitress finally returned to our table and explained that she was sorry because she never placed our order. I was so disgusted by this point I got up to speak to the manager on duty Christi. I explained our situation & she reluctantly apologized and said she would look into it. I returned to my table & finally ate my Dinner. The waitress gave us our bill & to my shock it was for the full amount. When I approached the manager and said, "is this what you mean by making things right". Christi (the manager) said she would consider taking off the drinks & appetizers. I was so upset I told her to charge me for the full amount of the bill and that she had a lot to learn about customer service. Christi asked if I could move to somewhere less obvious to talk so the other customers would not hear our conversation and then called me belligerent when I refused. We then left the restaurant and rushed to our tour which we were late for. The whole experience took well over 3 hours of our time.
I sincerely recommend you do not choose this restaurant while in Gettysburg!

Update: I spoke with the General Manager Jeff. He not only did not offer any apologizes he also seemed to side with the managers point of view. What a surprise...

Wasn't able to go because I worked the day everyone went, but was brought a Quesadilla and fries with old bay seasoning. The chicken quesadilla was awesome. Had a good flavor and some burnt pieces which actually adds to the flavor. So good! The fries were very good as well. Im only giving 4 stars because I couldnt see the decor. Hopefully, soon though

I never got a reply from these folks. I was in for lunch on Sept 8, 2011. Had cobb salad and bleu cheese dressing. When I finished I felt flushed and light headed. I had taken extra meds for my blood pressure due to spending the day before at 5000 feet. My 2 kids took me to Gettysburg Hosp. I passed out in the admission area and after being put on a gurney, I vomited violently, so much that I must have totally emptied my stomach. Even though I thought maybe it was too much blood pressure meds, the vomiting led the docs to say "food poisoning," because my blood pressure was in the low normal range throughout my stay in the hosp. I was kept and observed from 2PM - 8PM and left. Next day I was fine. I wrote the Pub and never received a reply. Informed proper authorities, Penna Dept of Agriculture, referred to them by county health dept and never got a reply from them either. Some very carelessness well may have been involved. I won't go back to this place, EVER!

I think The Pub is one of the best restaurants in Gettysburg! I've never had a bad meal or service there. The bruchetta is AMAZING! Portions are pretty large but that just means leftovers for the next day :-)

I want to give this 5 stars but honestly all I had was the french onion soup and a pretzel. I will say that it was probably one of the best crocks of french onion that I have ever had. The menu had lots of variety. Only wish I'd gone in with more of an appetite. I'll have to give it another try soo .

Your average civil war-town tourist trap. Long wait, high prices, a big but not very informing menu, nice staff, and decent food. I m sure there are tastier places in Gettysburg, but the combination of location and historical feel is unmatched. For how old it looks and feels, it s still clean, and the seating is awesome. Definitely would recommend lunch over dinner here. Kind of neat how you can enjoy a meal while still looking on to the exact spot where Lincoln gave his famous address. As for what to order, go simple. A few members of my party had seafood, another had pasta. All dishes were described as awkward and unoriginal. However, I had sliders, somebody else had a Reuben, and both were great for a gastropub. Overall, expect a long wait, order simple, and focus on the historic feel and the great location rather than the innovative quality of the meal.

I was shocked to come on to review this restaurant...

I was shocked to come on to review this restaurant and found it had an average of 3 out of 5 stars! I had to double check to make sure I had the right place. I was very happy with my experience here.

Reading a few reviews I saw people were complaining because of a long wait time (if you don't want to wait, don't wait and go somewhere else. At least they're honest and tell you it'll be 20 minutes and not just say a few minutes or something), or complaining because there were ads on the menu. Really? Maybe I'm just more laid back than most people, what do I care if there are ads on some pages on the menu. I just didn't read the ads, no biggie. People also complained because they had to leave their drivers license when they take the pager to wait for a table. Well, honestly, what's to stop someone from getting mad from waiting and just throwing away or breaking the pager. You get your license right back after your pager goes off. They're just trying to keep from having to buy new pagers when they go "missing".

So, our evening there did start off with us waiting about a half hour for a table. It was very busy. But they told us it'd be about that long and asked if we wanted to wait. Wasn't a problem, we had plenty of time to kill before our ghost tour late that evening. Our waiter was wonderful, so pleasant and friendly. We got drink refills quickly, weren't waiting long to place our order or for food.

In the menu is the story of the owner and a fire they had, they also had a thank you and tribute to the firemen in the menu, so they got more respect from me right there!

The one problem we did have was the low lighting in the place. For some of us, it was difficult to read the menu or the stories because the lighting seemed dim. I understand it was probably good for ambiance and dinner, but maybe having a dimmer switch on the little light next to the table that could be turned up at the table would be handy. But, that's minor.

Now to discuss the food.......on a recommendation from someone else we met that day, my husband ordered the bread bowl of the crab soup. It was amazing! I don't like soup, but when I tasted his, I was sorry I didn't order any. Real crab meat, not that fake stuff. Totally delish! My burger was oh SO good! Medium well was actually medium well! We were with a group of friends (5 of us) and not one of us had a single complaint or mistake on our order (and 1 of the 5 of us is so picky and always finds something wrong...lol, but not that night!)

The bathrooms were upstairs and just darling with a beautiful bowl sink (is that what they're called?) There was also a gorgeous banquet room upstairs we peeked in to look at. That would be a wonderful location for bridal showers, rehearsal dinners or something that needs an elegant look.

Wonderful food, great service, lovely building....definitely 5 out of 5!

Great service! Our waitress, Paige, was a sweetheart!! We had the Buffalo fries for an app ~ super delish! Coated with hot buffalo sauce & blue cheese with a side of blue cheese dip, yummy! I also had the Maryland crab soup...disappointing ~ the veggies were obviously canned & overpowered it while the crab was shredded which made it almost non-existent. My hubby had the Buffalo Burger...he enjoyed it, but he basically said "It's a burger". I had the Rueben with a side of mashed potatoes (I had enough fries), both were good, although the bread on my rueben was a little overly buttered which made it greasy. It was good, but I've had better. For dessert, we shared the peanut butter cheesecake ~ OMG, soooooooo good!!! We had to take half of it home, it was massive...very worth the $12.50 for a slice!! We didn't LOVE our food, but we didn't hate it either. The fries, cheesecake & service is what gave this place a 4/5.

Food was mediocre at best. For the price it should have been much much better. Chicken was dry and over cooked and had no flavor whatsoever despite being labeled as teriyaki . My wife s avocado BLT was similar-dry bread, very little avocado and lacked flavor. Waitress, decor and everything else was great despite this.

The website is appalling. The business is located in Gettysburg not Disneyland. Who is so conceded that they need to have their face on a splash screen before you can even access the restaurant website. I m not even going to bother making the trip.

My sister and I were in the area and decided to try this place for lunch. We waited a good bit before anyone came to our table. Then a fellow I believe his name was Tim or Troy waited on us. The food took longer than usual to get to our table but the worst part was the inappropriate remarks he was saying to us. It was obvious he was hitting on us. I felt very uncomfortable as well did my sister. I didn't say anything at that time because I didn't need anyone messing with my food and really something like that should not happen. I nor my sister will ever be back. The place looks so nice from the outside. I gave one star because the food was adequate.

The food here was excellent. The location is right in the middle of downtown. There is patio seating. The entrance could be a bit bigger and less cluttered. It was crowded when we went. The wait staff was not overly attentive, and their timing was perfect in attending to our party which included two children under the age of 2. I would definitely go back for the ham and pineapple sandwich.

Well its odd that in this day and time, particular...

Well its odd that in this day and time, particularly with an offer of a prepaid deposit, that a "professionally ran restaurant" doesn't accept reservations - for a group of 15 mind you.
Although things became much clearly after I was rudely informed that "exceptions never happen". I asked to speak to the General Manager (who sounded 18). He stated his name was Nick and after I explained my situation and asked for a reservation, was promptly dismissed because he's "been the GM for 14 years and it [reservations] never happen."
Without a lecture on good customer service (forget expecting great customer service), this restaurant has lost my business, 14 other folks business, and hopefully a few more after reading this review. In addition to this review, I'm adding one on Yelp and Google and telling anyone who will listen...
Remember, Nick, Mr 14-year-GM, that customers pay your paycheck. I wonder if Lisa, the owner would tolerate such unprofessional and rude behavior if she were aware? I guess she will if enough people suffer your kind of restaurant management.
