It was a bit overcrowded, but that was more due to it being a discount day. Lots of interesting exhibits and scenery. Could be laid out a bit more efficiently, but that's just a minor complaint.

We had a great time at zoo lights the only complaint I had was we were on the 530 train ride and they were still loading people from the 445 train ride it was a little unorganized but we still had a great time

Nice zoo. Large, but not a huge selection of animals. Limited parking, and you have to pay. You will do a lot odd walking up and down hills, most notably up as you are leaving, already tired from your time at the zoo.

Most animal enclosures were closed and no wolves. I feel it's too crowded for the tiny walkways between each animal.
But it was super cool to see the few animals who still were open and lit up.
The Christmas lights were a beautiful addition.

As a volunteer at the zoo and someone who has lived close their whole life, I absolutely love the zoo. Theres so many animals, they're always making it better, and I love the little books and crannys you can sit and chill in. Really food for families, friends, or even if you want to go alone!

Very nice zoo, but it's going through a major expansion right now. Not sure if it was better before, but a lot of key animals were missing because of the construction (no tigers, rhinos, zebras, jaguar, hippos, (not sure if we missed them, but didn't see any penguins), etc.). Will probably be a LOT better when this renovation is complete in 2020-ish.

The zoo is really fun. There is currently a lot of construction going on that we weren't told about. A lot of the animals didn't make an appearance, but we still had fun.
The drinking fountains now have water bottle fill ups, which is awesome.

First of all it s very expensive for zoo. Place looks dirty and the smell just can t stand. Animals are hiding where you can t even see them. No trainers for any entertainment. All the focus is on selling food and toys every corner. Not worth a dollar when you can watch animal movies at home. Torturing animal to make money.

I hate that it was crowded and unable to see anything pushing a stroller holding a toddler and adults completely in the way. But my daughter's first time to the zoo and she really enjoyed what she could see and pouted a tiny when we had to pass up some things. With parking didn't expire and cost souch. Also our tickets were supposed to be $4 but we were charged 16$ so be sure to watch out for that.

Probably 1/3 or more of the zoo is clos3d due to remodeling/construction they are break g ground for this summer. Everything that was open was great, but the lack of exhibits was very noticeable. That and the line to get food or drinks is exceptionally long, luckily we eventually found a vending machine that wasn't out of water.

I love seeing the remodel over time. I appreciate the Zoo incorporating learning activities into the construction zones. It's inviting and educational to all levels of development. The exhibits that are open change on such a regular basis you don't notice that you missed what you wanted to see bc you see something you missed last time. Or find new animals. The policy around food n drink is so lax. Most places you aren't allowed to save money bringing your own but the Zoo is so accomidat8ng to all families.
My family loves the sand pits. We spend alot of our time playing and making friends for the day in these tucked away covered play areas that recharge us to get more out of our experience.

No matter how often one may visit the Oregon Zoo, there are always countless activities to amuse us!
We were able to view the Amazing Birds as they soared so very closely over our heads.
And due to the perfect weather conditions, we were treated to a vast number of nature's wonders who were active for all to see!
Truly Priceless!!

I love this zoo! I've been to zoos all over the world but this is one of my favorite places. It's very conveniently located in Forrest Park. You can get there on either the red or blue max. You do need to pay for parking so I recommend to park in a park and a ride and take Trimet. This zoo offers paid animal experiences that are worth every penny. They are held in small groups and for the sloth experience you get to feed her and take selfies without harming her or the other animals like some places do.

I looked forward to going to this zoo for two years, I spent recovering from the loss of a portion of my leg, huge disappointment, lots of stairs and very few animals. The only thing I will take away from this mistake is $165 dollar parking ticket I got for having a totally legitimate parking permit and being from out of town. You have to pay the ticket or go back to Portland to get more of nothing. Disabled folks have a lot of disaposable income right. What a paradox and scam

Visited with my toddler today and had a bad experience. Pre-covid, the zoo offered discounted ticket prices for low income families with proof such as a WIC ID card that I used for me and my toddler. However now that you have to buy tickets online, this benefit is not available anymore. I cannot find it anywhere on the site and when I asked in person at the zoo today, 4 different employees told me either that they can t do that anymore or that they don t know with no explanation. Was frustrating at first but I understand.

The park was very clean and employees enforced social distancing and keeping on masks at all times which was great! However, only going one way was frustrating because you don t realize you re at the end until you see the exit sign. We skipped the Afri cafe to come back after we viewed the predators to wait for the restaurant to open at 11am. But after the predators we ended up near the train and the exit. I tried turning around and was told by an employee that I needed to turn around and go towards the exit. When I explained to her I was just trying to get back to the cafe she said I already passed it and cannot turn back. I exited the park and asked the attendant scanning tickets if I could re-enter to take the correct path back to the afri cafe and they denied me and told me I needed to buy another ticket to re-enter which was extremely frustrating.

I empathize with the fact that it s very difficult to navigate a business through the pandemic, so I understand that the employees were doing their job as trained. With that said my only hope of this review is for it to be seen by some type of zoo management so the business structure can be reassessed to better accommodate guests that visit.

the best zoo out there! I've been to San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, etc. All the new updates at the Oregon Zoo have taken then above and beyond the rest..if you are not fond of hills, though, this is a challenging zoo.
