Visited with my toddler today and had a bad experience. Pre-covid, the zoo offered discounted ticket prices for low income families with proof such as a WIC ID card that I used for me and my toddler. However now that you have to buy tickets online, this benefit is not available anymore. I cannot find it anywhere on the site and when I asked in person at the zoo today, 4 different employees told me either that they can t do that anymore or that they don t know with no explanation. Was frustrating at first but I understand.

The park was very clean and employees enforced social distancing and keeping on masks at all times which was great! However, only going one way was frustrating because you don t realize you re at the end until you see the exit sign. We skipped the Afri cafe to come back after we viewed the predators to wait for the restaurant to open at 11am. But after the predators we ended up near the train and the exit. I tried turning around and was told by an employee that I needed to turn around and go towards the exit. When I explained to her I was just trying to get back to the cafe she said I already passed it and cannot turn back. I exited the park and asked the attendant scanning tickets if I could re-enter to take the correct path back to the afri cafe and they denied me and told me I needed to buy another ticket to re-enter which was extremely frustrating.

I empathize with the fact that it s very difficult to navigate a business through the pandemic, so I understand that the employees were doing their job as trained. With that said my only hope of this review is for it to be seen by some type of zoo management so the business structure can be reassessed to better accommodate guests that visit.
