One of the best news I ve ever been to. The only thing is that it took us about almost an hour to find parking but I also have a larger vehicle. It was a little crowded but it s very spaced out don t even notice lots to see

Great zoo! Love the greenery and scenery of this zoo. It's like a nature stroll with animal attractions. They are doing work to upgrade the polar bear and monkey exhibits. You can get very close to the bald eagles. We got to see the penguin feeding.

The elephant exhibit is amazing and big. You get to watch them play and swim, plus plenty of space to walk around and play in other areas. The gift shop was a bit steeper than expected, but worth it since the money goes back into the zoo. Entry cost was about on par with other places. Definitely worth a visit

We really enjoyed this zoo! They have strollers and scooters for rent for those with mobility issues or if your kids don't want to walk. There's plenty of food and drink options along the way if you need. Park is adding a new exhibit in 2020 so there is construction going on right now. Parking is $8 for the day. Come early it will take a solid 2-3 hours or longer if you have littles, to make your way through the zoo.

IT has so many animals and so many bright lights. I love this zoo to go i would go there everyday if i can go. IT is one of my favorite zoo to go when there is nothing to do. You sould go to the oregon zoo. You can go there when you are free.

I've loved the zoo since I wad a small child. Today a Bald Eagle was perched right at the open viewing window which was amazing for me and my boys. They seem to be in a constant state of renovation which is great and bothersome at the same time. Regardless, I look forward to coming here for years to come.

I love the Oregon Zoo. There is a lot of construction going on right now, so several exhibits are closed. I still haven't seen MeiMei the Red Panda even though I see updates on their page about her frequently.

The train ride was very overpriced as the entire track isn't open right now, and half of the animal exhibits were closed or under construction.. not nearly enough animals to see to make it worth $18

The elephants now have room to roam as well as enrichment stations. It is under construction, but is still worth a visit. Hopefully the big cats, gorillas and the others will get more room to roam too.

We enjoyed it and they have some great improvements and are making more. My only complaint is that I will never drive there again. If you can manage it, take the max in because it is terrible for parking and it cost about the same.

Went for Zoo Lights which was a lot of fun, although a good number of the lights weren't working anymore. We'll go earlier next year. It was worth it all the same. Excited for all the improvements that will be done in 2020!

It's a good zoo. They have "twilight tuesdays", where for $5 ($4 if you take the MAX) you can enjoy an evening at zoo. They often have music and beer on Tuesday evenings. It's great to have a drink and watch peinguins!

We really enjoyed our time at the zoo. The rhino, hippo, monkey and polar bear exhibitions were closed while we were there, but the lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, elephant, bald eagle, condor, etc., we're all open. They have a diverse array of animals to see.

We came in the morning and got to see some of the activities and animal feeding times. So cool! Some of the exhibits are under construction. New Rhino enclosure and Giraffe Encounter coming in 2019. We will be back for that for sure:)

A lot of exhibits were not complete. Also, some exhibits didn't seem to have enough room for the animals (specifically eagles). However some of the exhibits were great, like the monkey exhibits. Very dissapointed that parking was an additional cost.

Not all that impressed.., the animals are cool too see but pretty lame, lack of any interactions, no feedings going on..., they need to interact at times with the animals...A lot of money to watch animals lay around.

We went on a Friday morning and it was still a challenge to find a parking spot. And the pay meter was less than cooperative. Also, make sure you know your parking spot number before you head to pay, you need to input it in the meter.

Today happened to be field trip day for many schools, so the zoo was very crowded.
There are a few things I think should be changed/updated around the zoo. There are no water fountain/refill stations between the entrance and the big lawn that's used for eating/birds show/concerts. After there I only saw one more somewhere in Africa I believe.

The paper maps are helpful, but I'd like to see someone design an app that shows real time where you are on the map. Marking all exhibits, food carts, water fill stations, and especially the bathrooms which can be difficult to find in a hurry through a crowd. The app can even have construction updates. Feeding schedules, education/talk schedules, etc. I didn't actually pull my phone out at all while at the zoo, but if there was a useful app I would definitely use it.

I personally feel the admission to the zoo is too expensive for what you get, (nearly $20 per adult!) If your going to go more than once or twice a year a pass may be a better option for you depending on the age of your kids. The zoo does however offer a military discount ($2 off the regular admission price) and it also participates in the Zoo for All program that provides reduced admission to those that receive certain government assistance plans making admission $5 per person! And last they offer a discount $1.50 off per admission if you ride Max and show proof.

One of the best Zoo's I've been to around the world. The closest one in comparison would be the crocodile hunter's zoo in Australia if that tells you anything. They have a really interesting set up where different climate zones and animals all live with each other, and the animals don't look like they hate their lives either. Unfortunately, the train was down for repairs when we went, but I've heard great things about it. If you're in the Pacific Northwest, this is a MUST SEE.

Always a fun day at the zoo. Don't miss the noon time bird show and animals talks. Food is always amazing and excellent quality. Animal exhibits are wheel chair accessable and always interesting. Bathrooms and clean and plentiful. Water bottle fill stations throughout. Ride the train and the carousel.

Just have a look at how many animals have died at this facility in the last few years. Obviously neglect of the animals is prevalent.
If you support this type of animal treatment then this zoo is for you.
I will not be taking my children here anymore and I completely do not support this zoo.

I wouldn t recommend

Well organized and very clean. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly(which was different from the rest of our Portland experience to date). Elephant, waterfowl and condor exhibits had nice educational boards. Interesting in the waterfowl exhibits how few drake they had out and not boards showed photos of the hens in the ponds. Though for those who don't waterfowl to get it I bet.

All things considered it's a great zoo and would love to take my 3yr old back.

I LOVE the Oregon Zoo! I've been to a ton of Zoos, and The Oregon Zoo is simply one of my favorites. It is a large zoo with tons of unique animals. I love all the Pacific Northwest animals, like the bears! Unique animals like the naked moles rats! And how often do you get to see Cheetahs??? This zoo has it all!

One of the best things about this zoo is the multiple viewing areas. I rarely feel like I'm squashed in with a ton of people trying to look into one small window... There are windows all over! It's clean. The workers are friendly.

An all-around fun place!!!

If you have a membership to another Zoo, make sure you check to see if you get discounts here. We got half off because we're LA Zoo members!

I love this Zoo. I have a membership so it pays for itself in 2 visits with a family of four. I hate that they had a mishap in front of my child with the Lion. They need to have better protocols in place. Other than that it's pretty big and clean. Beautiful landscapes.

Worst experience ever...the workers at the front gate failed to inform us that we would not be able to see the entire zoo do to a concert they were having. We traveled all the way from Idaho to be totally disappointed. My family and I will NEVER come back to this place. It was a waste of time and money!!!!!
I only gave this place a 1 star cause I had to choose one to write this review. In reality I give it a big fat 0

The zoo itself is great, especially with the work they're doing to expand enclosures, friendly staff, very stroller accessible. However, the food is insanely average. Africafe is like an 80s fast food joint and the food carts are geared towards the same type. They really need an upgraded food and drink selection and venue, then I'd give it 5 stars for sure!

We were there for 4 hours but you could easily spend more time there. It will be even more wonderful when the new exhibits open next year. The girls remembered the elephant ears from their visit last October, so we had to get those again. There is an elephant ears food cart by the elephant exhibit.

The people running the Oregon Zoo clearly love and care for their animals, and they've also found creative ways to ensure visitor safety while we navigate the pandemic. Their educational programs and live interactive Q&A videos were a bright spot during the time they (and most other venues) were closed, so it is great to have an opportunity to visit in person now. As of August 2020, the public can reserve tickets for specific entry times on the zoo website up to 10 days in advance. I believe advance ticketing is a requirement at this point. Masks are also required, and there is one way foot traffic on the zoo grounds. I felt very safe spending the afternoon there. I look forward to returning soon, as well as later once the enclosed exhibits re-open post-covid. I feel good supporting the zoo, knowing they stand for both conservation and education.
