Currently there is a lot of construction going on....
Currently there is a lot of construction going on. Disappointed that there no longer any Elk.

Great place! Bring your own food. Food is highly priced and pretty sure it was microwaved
Perfect place for family time. Very clean. Very educational.
We all had fun but they have to many exhibits down for construction feel like money was wasted on this trip next time hope its better but it was still fun
A few exhibits are closed but it's still well worth the visit!
Awesome zoo! All of the enclosure were very nice and in good shape. I love the glass partitions for the large cats and polar bear!
It's an amazing experience to see all the animals on display. This visit was for Zoo Lights on 12.13.2019 and I took a star off because they are updating and expanding a couple large areas including primates and bears. However the new elephant habitat is huge and amazing!!! Zoo Lights is cool because so many animated lights and the light tunnel are so beautiful. Try the elephant ear and cocoa, they've amazing. This year there were food trucks too and prices seemed typical for that experience, was upset my wife said no to On Tots (we just had elephant and reindeer ear pastries).
Best zoo of the few I have been to in Oregon and Northern California.
I love this zoo! I've grown up going there my whole life and I even worked for them for a couple years. Their dedication is always to their animals and the conservation efforts they pursue. Education opportunities abound, special events and presentations are excellent and the staff are amazing. I always look for an excuse to go to the zoo and the fact that they are constantly improving enclosures to better suit the animals is amazing.
One of the best places to take children in the Portland area. Lots of new construction and exhibits to entertain everyone.
Our overall experience at the Oregon zoo was positive, big variety of animals with adequate enclosures. Lots of food options. They give nice presentations showcasing the animals. The only downfall is that even though we came on a Tuesday morning it was horribly crowded, with pushy rude people.. also, the train ride was not all that neat. At 4 per rider, you don't see much, no animals, and it only lasts about 5 minutes.
Fun wish there was more maps around of entire zoo..but fun. nd should have lids and straws for ppl who buy a coffee thats a small for 5$ even if u dont purchase a souvenir cup.
Not a lot of animals out and about no monkeys no bears had a hard time finding the elephants what a beautiful part 2 walkthrough with my grandchild
Plenty to see and do. Great exhibits with a range of animals. Easy to spend a lot of time here and keep the kids busy.
Knowledgeable staff as well as helpful displays we clean and well kept public bathrooms were also clean
I have been to the Oregon Zoo a couple times now, and I've always been impressed. They have some really fantastic exhibits, but there are many that need improvement. I am pleased to see that they are building a new exhibit for their apes (orangs and chimps), but I was a little sad at their animatronic dinosaur tour. In my mind, a train ride with fake dinosaurs does not belong in a zoo. I really wish they would have spent that money on updating other exhibits or adding new ones. For that reason, I can't give a full score.
Employees reminded people of the mask policy, and were very helpful when I asked for directions. I love the zoo!
Nice zoo. The new elephant lands area is great! I highly recommend getting a zoo membership. It works for zoo lights in December and provides a discount everywhere in the zoo.
Free parking if you are there on days where overflow parking (with free shuttle) is in use!
Also children 2 and under are free. However, some areas I wanted to get to have stairs so I would say it's not as stroller friendly as it could be.
Good day trip idea with the kids. Ride the MAX and save yourself time finding parking.
What's not to love about the zoo? Animals, concerts, food.
Beautiful place, very big but easy to navigate through.
There are too many exhibits under construction. Half the zoo was empty.
During the zoo lights we stopped and got hot chocolate my son said it's the best hot chocolate ever
Good food, lots of things to look at. Very nice place to visit.
Great atmosphere...they have a shortage of exhibits because of a remodel. But awesome zoo
A great place to spend the day, especially with family and friends. Also, a good place to catch some Poke'mon!
A lot of construction at the time so no zebras, polar bears, or rhinos til 2020.
Not bad as far as zoos go otherwise. The second Tuesday of each month excluding may-aug is 5.00 admission. Otherwise it's 19.
I took my grandson we had a great time! The animals look well taken care of and the food descent
Love Portland zoo. Exhibits are really nice. There are lots of indoor places to visit and the landscaping is beautiful. Shops offer really great options. Food is a little pricy but good. If you are in the area this zoo is worth going to!
It's not great... not bad either.... overly crowded for having so little. I've been to the St Louis Zoo and the Henry Doorly and this no where near that level of extravagance. Hopefully one day it will be better, but today is not that day
First time to Oregon zoo and it was great, my family from California was visiting and we all attended zoo lights. The light displays were wonderful and the kids loved the train ride as well as the animals.
Great zoo! Huge variety of animals and activities. Clean, family friendly grounds with huge parking lot and easily accessible public transit. Awesome venue for concerts and the winter time Zoo Lights are a perfect activity for family visits or date nights.
Plan a day trip! There's so much to do and see here! Concessions and pit stops, train, activities to keep kids and adults engaged!
Lots of great exhibits and animals. A new experience every visit
Absolutely incredible been about 15 years since I have been there. Very nice clean incredible very user-friendly highly recommended very affordable
If you enjoy zoos - this is an especially good one. This zoo had been making a lot of effort to create better conditions and habitats for the animals. Are any zoo enclosures going to be large enough? No. But many of the animals here are part of condervation breeding programs (such as the condors) or are unsuitable for release.
Love bringing our toddler here to run around and see all the animals. Don't go too early in the year with out bringing your own water/snacks as the back restaurants and vendors are all closed until the "busy season" starts. Get there early to get in on some of the animal feedings and such as most of these are over by 1pm
The Oregon Zoo is very nice. BUT! right now, summer '18, the rhino exhibit is closed for work and the rhinos are in Kansas City. When you enter the zoo, you'll be stopped by photographers, which is a little annoying but it's quick and they give you a card to look up your pictures at a kiosk or online. Maybe you can figure out how to make these photos look good? We couldn't. Other than that, it's real chill.walk around, see an elephant or three, ride the train, catch a bird show. It's a good time! Oh, and parking is horrendous. Take the max train.
If you like to do a lot of walking, then it's perfect. Half the exhibits were closed.
So much fun, not as crowded as I thought it would be. Went on a Thursday afternoon
Security is a bit rude, especially at the end of the day, but we all are. Very enjoyable, our 3 year old loved it. The staff is very sweet, but the security needs to stop flexing the bit of power they have and enjoy working at the zoo more.
Went here for a field trip. They had many very great displays and interesting information. It wasn't too busy, and the gift shop had great service. None of the animals looked out of place or uncomfortable where they were and they seemed to be having a great time and looked natural. There was a good layout to see all of the animals, as it was sectioned off. I would reccomend the aviary as my favorite place. There was a wide variety of birds in their natural habitat that you got to see up close and personal. Overall the whole aviary was really calming and I didn't want to leave . I would definitely reccomend as a family trip.
So is just a great place to go in the afternoon showed him my Max ticket and got a discount they had removed two or three of the exhibits because of construction but was able to see the bear and the Cougars I enjoy going to the zoo every now and then just a great place to relax thank you
One of my favorite places to be! Home away from home.
Membership preview of Oregon Zoo Christmas lights was AMAZING! Thank you from a Vancouver, WA resident on 11/22/17. My son & I had the best time!
Had a blast. Beautiful exhibits and they are expanding.
There is lots of new construction going on so some areas are closed. However, the new elephant facility is fabulous. The zoo has a great summer concert series and is a fantastic way to spend your day anytime of the year. If you live within an hour of the zoo and plan to go multiple times, a membership would definatly be something to look into.
Fun, but bring all the Animals back that are not there because of the remodel !
Nice, well maintained homes for mostly native species.
What a nice and well maintained zoo! It's not the biggest zoo but maybe one of our nicest zoo experiences.
I would give five stars, except every single time I've been to the zoo the animals are almost never in view. And, I'm very upset they no longer have the lorikeet exhibit. That was my favorite part of the zoo!
Amazing zoo! You can get married here, prom, see the animals ex... What a great place to celebrate your special occasion. Save the animals!
It is a very good place to take the children we loved it
Lots of walking, and zoo is growing! Was a typical winter day aka raining. So some animals weren't out, but still a fun experience.
We love the zoo! I've been going since I was a little kid, and it's great to see all the ways they have improved it over the years. The new elephant lands are wonderful. The animals have lots of space and great natural habitat. Lots of walking, and it's hilly. Fun in all weather, lots to do on quite rainy days and I think the animals are more active.
The zoo lights were fun to look at. They were all so creative. The train was fun for my one year old son.
I also loved going into the insect area to warm up from the cold outside. It was 37 degrees outside.
Lots of attractions were closed because of the off season but still had fun seeing the animals.
It's pretty small compared to other zoos but it is well kept.
Christmas season are just now getting a chance to look at the beautiful colors at Oregon Zoo
Great display of animals womderful trail and easy to navigate....tiger burritos are a great lunch spot
This is one of the best zoos in the country, and their new elephant habitat is excellent. If you are here during the hols, don't miss Zoo Lights, and treat yourself to the train ride. Just be sure to dress warmly.
We love this zoo! They do an excellent job of keeping the whole park clean, easy to navigate, and fill of interesting things to see, do, and eat.
They got rhino's hippo's alligators giraffes and so much more and there elephant ears are so delicious I recommend them
Love the zoo and all the animals. Great place for all!
