The Oregon Zoo is always an amazing place to visit, and that didn't change just because of COVID! You can still see the vast majority of the animals and certain animals - like the chimps! - have really missed people and are as eager to see you as you are to see them! The zoo is taking wonderful precautions, too, and outdoor activities like visiting the zoo are some of the safest possible during quarantine.

Good to see/hear various animals, birds, yet many of the exhibits were not open. Hated to see how Oregon's Governor and her progressive politics have ruined a once wonderful place in Portland to visit.

Taking the Max is the best way to go. I took the family early around 10 and most of the animals were out and about, the best parts were the seals and the elephants. The Elephant pool time at 12:30 is the best part. Make sure to get a good spot for it. We spent like 5 hrs there and it's by far the most I've spent at a zoo and they didn't even have the Black Rhino or the Polar exhibit yet. Opens in 2020. Only down side and complaint is that the food is expensive and cold. Ordered chicken strips and fries that were probably sitting under a heat lamp. All in all it was a good day.

Best Zoo! You wouldn't think to visit a Zoo on your trip to often. Don't skip the Oregon Zoo! Crowd management at is most excellent. The parking lot is full but rarely do you feel that there are too many other people that your experience is hindered.

It seems like 9/10 times I go there s a whole exhibit closed. At the time of writing this, their polar bear exhibit is getting a full renovation, so that s acceptable, but the monkey/ape area has been closed as well.

The Oregon Zoo is a wonderful place to spend the day. My favorite attraction is the Elephant Habitat. It is a must see and be sure and take in one of their shows too, when the elephants get in their pool. I really enjoy the bat exhibit as well. A part of the zoo is under construction, but there is still plenty to see and do. I've been to many zoos around the country and the Oregon Zoo is in the top five for me.

Is over all a great place. Suggestion going on a weekday if possible. I took PTO. Weekends get really crowded when we go.. Last time my son was disappointed the elephants were gated from the water, the hippo exhibit was down, and the crocodile exhibit was down.

The enclosures were huge, varied, and engaging for the animals. I especially loved the Pacific Northwest section, it really felt like I was just out in the wilderness encountering the animals. You can buy a small plastic "key" for kids to "unlock" audio content about different exhibits, but it wasn't really explained it obvious when/where to use them... That didn't detract from the visit, though and it was only $2 so I didn't feel that I wasted money on it, especially since it's reusable on other visits.

A friendly zoo with some cute animals, famous for the winter "Zoo Lights" where they cover the whole place in Christmas lights and stay open late. The paths are a little confusing, but there are bathrooms and food/drink amenities all over so they're not hard to find. They have an amazing elephant area, a beautiful greenhouse, and they do a show with some spectacular birds a few times away. I recommend going to see the big cats if it's sunny (you might catch them napping together) and the bats at any time.

A large part of the zoo is being renovated (a rhino area and a polar area) and will reopen in 2020.

This rating is based solely on the parking situation since we gave up and left. For an entertainment venue that is this popular parking is an embarrassment. 3 tiny lots. Or try to park above in Washington park and take your life into your hands walking down the roads. Would have loved to have gone in. Haven't been since I was a kid 50+ years ago.

I've been there for the zoo lights event. The event itself was good and very impressive. It's definitely worth to see, but I've felt a little bit sad for the animals that have to endure the lights fur such a long time.

Wow, what a well organized operation. With Covid 19 they really have everything very well organized from direction of travel, limiting the number of people in at any point of time, and having monitors and signs at mask required areas. It makes you feel like you have the zoo all to yourself.

My family has been going here for years. It is a wonderful zoo. My kids love the elephant house, the bat house, and the giraffes. We have a family membership and it is well worth the money.

Took my son to zoo lights for the first time, he absolutely loved all the pretty lights and decorations. We both got the ride the zoo train for the first time together and im not sure who loved ot more.
The zoo team did a spectacular job and we had an amazing time. If you have not been to this event you need to add it to your bucket list, children or not it is fun for everyone.
Thank you zoo team for the great memories I made with my wife and son during this event, I will cherish them forever.

This place is cool for taking your children. You have to walk a lot inside of it but its worth it. There are all kind of animals but only one or two animals of each specie. They sell food, its a little expensive and take a little bit of waiting.

Christmas lights are always a great one time trip during the Christmas season. They also have a week where tickets are cheaper or free for low income families which is thoughtful of them. I'm not much of a regular zoo person though. Hurray! An animal! Okay I don't need to see that for a while. I think they do a good job at keeping the exhibits interesting and engaging with advancing technology. Elephants are cool. A LOT of Pokemon GO stops and gyms. Solid 7/10

I will never outgrow going to the Zoo. Last time I went with family everyone had a wonderful time. The new Elephant enclosure is amazing. Other zoos come to portland because their elephant program is so successful.

Now a proud member of the zoo ,we take a ride in the Max and spend a great half of the day with my 3 years old. The zoo is getting better with all the improvements and all the friendly people that works there.

A nice zoo. Plenty of attractions to engage little ones. The animal enclosure facililities, for the most part, appear to be pretty animal friendly. A comfortable oudoor theatre in the middle of the zoo was a nice feature. Plenty of refreshment stands & washrooms. Easy, but expensive ($8) parking. Take advantage of the other attractions in Washington Park.

Awesome
