Awesome zoo. The manager was very rude about my mother's service animal. The service animal is for seizures and he acted like he didn't care. I gave 4 stars because we didn't let one rude man ruin our great time at the zoo

We did get there early, yes. But at least some stands could have been opened for food and not just snacks and coffee. They really should have just closed only a couple of exhibits instead of closing off most major exihbits. Half the zoo was just signs. I'll see what I think when 2020 rolls around and everything is back in order.

Amazing zoo! Good design allows you to see almost all the animals. There are a lot of ingenuity designed for children in the park. It s wonderful everywhere, there s no cold spot, and the map design is very clear. Very worth a visit!

I like this zoo, it's probably my favorite out of all the zoos I've been to. It's very clean, and they keep the animals very maintained very well. There is certain times when they feed the animals, there is plenty of animals there, like: elephants, apes, monkeys, ortangurangs, lions, tigers, bears, sunbears, vultures, etcetera. They have some pretty good food aswell. This place is very fun for children, I recommend going here if you're a local or just visiting and checking it out on the to-do list.

We attended a zoo concert. It was super crowded, people ended up sitting on concrete steps or putting their blankets and chairs on any available location, often hot blacktop. You are captive to the food carts and beverage carts since you can't take in coolers. Get ready to lay out some cash.

I brought my disabled mother for her birthday. They had discounts for her having food stamps and there are scooters and wheelchairs for rent but $30 plus $20 deposit is pretty steep especially since you can't reserve them in advance. The zoo is clearly aimed at families with young kids but we still had a good time. Almost all the food places within the zoo close 3hrs before the zoo itself which was also frustrating because that isn't made clear.

We had friendly guides and people at the restaurant to help us. It was a quick trip, and we saw a lot in our 3 hours. They do have some new animal habitats under construction but it was easy to navigate.

The Oregon zoo has been one of my favorites how ever I have to say I was very disappointed with this last visit. Many exhibits are under construction or closed the zoo train is not worth the price any more. Entire train ride was 5 min long. I look forward to giving it another try after construction is over how ever untill then it's simply not worth the price of admission

A stunning experience where even when you're not looking at animals, you're still surrounded by nature.

The park is separated into different regions/climates and has a really wonderful variety of animals, and everything is easy to see. On our visit we saw: cheetahs, lions, giraffes, bald eagles, penguins, river and sea otters, sea lions, a wide variety of bugs (in their own building), birds, fish, etc.

The employees were very kind and informative, and it was nice learning about conservation efforts. The plaques around the animals and live feedings were educational.

The entrance fee wasn't bad, and you do pay for parking, but I've heard that the app Parking Kitty makes this a bit easier. Worth the trip, and I can't wait to come back.

Fun place to take the kids. Plenty of different animals to see. They re upgrading a lot right now so if you don t want construction noise I d wait a bit. I m excited for the upgrades they re doing. Will update the review after the upgrades are done.

Almost every exhibit is closed until 2020. So don't bother. All the cafes are closed. Just not worth it. I've been here over 10 times in the past 3 years and it's always the same thing. Definitely do not recommend at 17 dollars a person.

Almost 100% Handicap accessible, some exhibit windows have stairs or narrow passages, but to memory all exhibits have at least one accessible vantage.

Surprisingly large place with great exhibits. Very family and kid friendly with lots of interesting semi-interactive spots and a schedule of interesting narrated observation activities such as lion feeding. There is also a comparatively high density of covered building exhibits, so it's slightly more friendly to poor weather than most zoos (although I would still recommend going during nicer weather). Transit to and from is a bit difficult while the station is under construction, though, the bus only runs once per hour.

Great spot overall. Make a day of it by hitting the Japanese Gardens and Rose Test Garden as well, makes for a very fine time.

Been here twice now. We came once for the zoo experience, and another for the zoo lights production. Both times we had a fun experience. Lots of animals and lights to see with a great educational experience.

GO. You won t regret it. Make sure you don t miss the bats and armadillo in addition to the other major exhibits. Don t think I ve ever seen that many bats active before. Mesmerizing! My mom and I watched the otters for almost half an hour we were so happy.

It is with a heavy heart that we must make a sad announcement: the Oregon Zoo has euthanized Packy the elephant at age 54. Packy was born in captivity and never had a chance to see a natural elephant habitat or interact with his fellow wild elephants. Instead, he was kept in a cell for the entirety of his life, until, in 2013 he was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB).

As a TB carrier, he became a financial and legal risk the zoo that held him captive. An anonymous source told the Huffington Post, Packy has never shown any signs or symptoms of the TB infection. He is showing no signs of pain or discomfort. He is active, playful and engaged with keeper staff every day. Despite this fact, it came to the attention of In Defense of Animals and Free the Oregon Zoo Elephants that the Oregon Zoo had started talks behind closed doors about euthanizing Packy.

Decided to take my family today 6/30 got in and 75% of the zoo was under construction didn't see much except for a few animals wish this was posted on the website or when you enter.. When you drive all the way from Salem to visit and mostly wondering around and seeing closed exhibits. Even the shops being closed and snack shops definitely will wait to visit again

The zoo is great! They are continuing to upgrade it and make the exhibits better for the animals and better for the visitors. There are lots opportunities for animal interaction as well with keeper talks. Parking is the biggest downside. There aren't very many spots to park. On busy days parking is a hassle, if you can find a spot.

Great zoo. I have gone to many and several times to some of the best. Beautiful landscaping, great exhibits including one for the pacific northwest, modest entry fee, and close to many other attractions (kids museum, rose garden, japanese garden).

We drove but there is public transport directly to the zoo. Given the parking situation on a Wednesday morning, I would definitely recommend taking public transport

We did the Discovery After Hours tour. It ended up being a private tour as the other group didn't show, so zookeeper Dave took us around the veterinary medical center and aquatic areas and spoke about how everything works and we got to see a side of the zoo most don't know about. We even got to feed the elephants an evening snack of sweet potato, carrots, and bananas. It was amazing.

The zoo will be a lot nicer when construction on several main features, like the Black Rhino exhibit and the Primate Forest, is completed in 2020. Check times for shows; Pool Time for the elephants is worth watching! Also, if you are driving an oversize vehicle (like a large van or bus) figure out parking ahead of time. It can be a nightmare. Plan ahead and the zoo can be a really good experience.

This is a pretty good zoo. We have family that wants to come here every time they are in town. We ended up buying a zoo pass a few years ago. Honestly, the zoo pass makes it way more enjoyable if you have kids and plan on coming back within a year. A lot of the time we will only see part of the zoo each time because it is too much to take in with one trip and little ones. Some of the highlights are Zoo Lights at Christmas, the Zoo Train, & the Animals. I highly recommend to anyone who loves animals or has kids!

I've been to a lot of zoos across the country, and the Oregon Zoo is my favorite. It is a relaxing stroll, lots of shade, plenty if places to stop and enjoy the exhibits for awhile. Been coming for 20 years with my family, and don't plan on stopping any time soon.

Love the Zoo! Go on a weekday for optimum space to stroll and view. Weekends can get a little hair pully.

Totally bring your own food for the pro experience. Elephants are the showcase with a nice nod to the new insect type place by the train. Fell in love with the baby turtles last time.

If you didn't bring your own snacks, dig the animal fries. Elephant ears are always delicious. Also new Red Panda for the win.

Nice animal enclosures; super friendly, knowledgeable staff; loved the "animal talks" that happened frequently throughout the day; great food cart options; I'd definitely recommend it!
